We have to go Wideout unless we get Marshall or Boldin somehow this year before the draft... if we do then we go with TE I think its time we start stocking the deck with Offensive players...

Here is my list/big board of the great players that are suited for us

1. Ndamakong Suh - He is a great player who penetrates into the backfield often and does a great job of controlling the offensive linemen to move as he wants to

2. Arrelious Benn - Great physical receiver with great hands. He is like Anquan Boldin. The only thing that alarms me is his TD numbers.

3. Terrence Cody - He is kind of like Ngata but without the lateral movement and the athleticism. But all he does his take up blockers and create penetration in the backfield. His conditioning needs work

4. Carlos Dunlap - I am not sure if he could fit into our scheme, but he is SOOOO talented. A Mario Williams type of talent.

5. Gerald McCoy - He could be a 5 technique and would be a good one as well.

6. Sergio Kindle - 3-4 OLB who is 6'4 250 and runs a 4.5 fourty with 10 sacks as a junior. Him and Suggs could be deadly

7. Greg Hardy - He could be a 3-4 OLB and is an excellent pass rusher but has some durability issues

8. Jermaine Greshem - 6'6 and 260ish with great speed. Excellent athlete. can block some, but his main asset is a pass catcher.

9. Dez Bryant - a Jumpball kind of guy, and comes from a spread type offense. People compare him to Larry, but Dez does not have the same kind of route running ability as did Larry did coming out of college. It will take him a while to learn the pro game, but he might become special.

Brandon Spikes would be amazing!
agreed.

I would like for us to trade up in draft and pick Taylor Mays. Mays is the best saftey in the draft, is 6'3 and 230 lbs, and runs close to a 4.3 40 yard dash, that is ridiculus athletic ability. If you put Mays at SS next to Ed Reed at FS, that would be incredible.
i absolutely love Taylor Mays, but we are loaded at Safety, so I dont know how smart of a move that would be, unless we let landry go after this year

I think its fair to say that we don't put a huge emphasis on measurables anymore. Football intelligence with hustle will get you on this team, not overhyped superathletes.

hence the paul kruger pick.. good post

What are the thoughts about Jerry Hughes out of TCU as a possible compliment to Suggs on the other side? Late 2nd/3rd pick. Hes too small to be a DE, so im positive he'll goto a 3-4 team. I havent really started to look at college defensive prospects in depth yet but hes one guy that stood out to me last year on TCU's nasty D.

Sergio Kindle or Greg Hardy would be great. But I don't think we can afford to pass on a WR or TE in round 1. The TE from Oklahoma is amazing and gonna be a star in the NFL.

Realistically we aren't getting anywhere near Ndamakong Suh, Cody or Dez Bryant. Also theres no way we take a 6'6" speed demon at OLB/DE or a DT that doesn't move well. Get real people, these arent Raven type players.

whats wrong with the 6'6" guy with speed, granted I haven't watched him much, but speed is usually a great factor.

4.5 track speed is good, but reaction speed and game quickness is better. When it comes to drafting for our D we draft football players over project athletes.

Don't forget guys, at this point it looks like you should include Andre Smith and Michael Crabtree to the list.

We don't need another OT, nor do we need a diva WR who wouldn't have played football for over 1 year.

Really? <Mod Note: Keep the insults out of it.>

Let me bring you up to speed.

1. Almost all good teams have a a policy of drafting an offensive or defensive lineman in the first three rounds every year regardless of the positional situation. If a talent like Smith was to be available in the late first round (where I think we will be after our Super Bowl run :)), you cannot pass him up unless even better talent has fallen as far.

2. We need Michael Crabtree. Any Ravens fan will tell you that.

Really? Clearly you're football drafting knowledge isn't that expansive.

Ok, so we draft another OT we don't need. Who is out of shape, with a terrible work ethic. <Mod Note: Keep the insults out of it.>

i'd say we could need a WR like Dez Bryant and a new FS (Eric Berry = Ballhawk or T.Mays = Hard hitter)

so they can step up when Reed and Mason retire,... (and this is unfortunately getting more and more possible)

besides: it all comes down to the trenches so quality linemen are always a wise choice. linebacking corps looks good but i still think we should get a MLB like Spikes for example (he can tackle and he can cover)

My 2010 Draft Wishlist begins with Dez Bryant and ends with Arelious Benn, period. It's time for this franchise to add a legit offensive weapon to make us a perrenial Super Bowl contender like the Patriots and Randy Moss.

Not only that but to have 3 OT that are worth multi millions is idiotic, the cap space can be better served on something else, not having a guy who counts for 4-5 mil sitting on the bench. I agree OL, and DL must be taken every draft, but we dont need an OL in the first 3 rounds for a long time now.

We need a guy who's holding out for a bigger contract than a guy drafted ahead of him that plays the same position? We need a guy who's willing to jeopardize his career by missing out on a whole season (thereby staying severely behind the learning curve)? We need a guy whose recent injury history is shaky? We need a guy who's more concerned about money than getting on the field? We need a receiver who excelled in a pass-heavy offense in college?

There's a difference between a need and a want -- Crabtree sounds more like a want than a need. A very questionable want, at that.

Okay after watching both the Alabama/Virginia Tech game and the Oklahoma/BYU game aswell as highlights and other plays from all the other games here is my latest breakdown

Whos dropped out of top prospects i want-
Terrance Cody
Im sorry but this guy isnt a first day pick IMO, let a lone a first rounder. I watched him extensivley tonight and he was garbage. I actually saw a a play on more than one occasion where he just gave up during the play. he may be huge and a can plug holes but Kelly Talavou can do that. Cody was garbage tonight and he is very over rated just because of his size. Also he is never on the field it seems. I watched the entire game and he was always off the field. Sometimes he was off on forst and second down. Just doesnt have the motor, work ethic or ability to be a first day pick IMO. I dont want to touch this guy come April.

Guys on the rise -
Colin Peek TE - Beasted today, an amazing blocker and was pancaking defensive backs with ease and only once did he not hold up a block to seal the edge. He shows great technique and power when blocking. He is also a huge target and was great in the hashmarks. Very good in the redzone and extended to make some great catches. I had him as a 5th rounder before tonight but now i think i would take him in the mid to late third.

Dave Pitta TE - Jermain Gresham may get all the attention (and deservedly so) but Pitta is a monster. And IMO the second best TE this year after Gresham. Good hands, ran good routes and showed me that he can block. Good player and could be a day one pick next year.

Rolando McClain ILB - Yes, he got a but fired up and cost his team points but i love his passion and emotion on the field. After watching tonights game i have no doubts about his insticts. He read plays very well and on his two sacks he wasnt even the designated blitzer, it just showed how smart he is and he reads and reacts very quickly. He is also an amazing tackler. On more than one instance it looked like he took a bad angle to tackle a player but his pure strength was amazing and he just shoveled them to the ground. He also wraps up well and delivers shots.

Injuries that helped the Ravens -
Jermain Gresham TE - because he didnt play this hurts his stock, the ravens would love him and if he fell there in no doubt he would be a raven

Arelious Benn WR - With a rookie salary cap most likely coming soon i see no doubt as to why he wouldnt declare early and after his injury today he might fall a we bit. he'll be our for about 3 weeks from what im hearing so that will hurt his stock a bit. I really hope he falls because he is Marshall/ Boldin combined without the attitude.

I know the 2010 draft is 8 months away...but does anyone have anybody they feel we could use. I know I have a few especially in the 1st rd. Just hope one of them is going to be available.

Jermaine Gresham, Oklahoma TE
Height: 6-6. Weight: 260.

Athletic TE that can do it all. Catch, Run Routes, and block(well). His play reminds me of both Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez.

Brandon Spikes, Florida ILB
Height: 6-3. Weight: 244.

Possible Ray Lewis replacement a year or 2 down the road. Great intangibles. Great defensive leader for the Gators. I believe he'd be the same here. Could play in either the 3-4, or 4-3.

Sergio Kindle, Texas DE/OLB
Height: 6-4. Weight: 254.

Incredibly fast, and surprisingly strong DE for his size. Imagine drafting this guy and putting him on the same defense as Terrell Suggs. Almost the same kind of player as T-Sizzle. But with two major pass rushers this defense would be even scarier. Hopefully he could gain a little more weight to get even stronger.

Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State WR
Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.

The perfect receiver for Joe. Big, physical, great body control, and amazing jump ball skills. Only down side is his speed. Which is good but not elite. Put up amazing number as sophomore. Nearly 1500 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Any others to add to the wish-list?
I like this list, especially Spikes. We know that Ray isnt gonna be there forever and we need another Star Athlete Linebacker behind him. Trust me, I wish Ray could play forever cause i would take him over any linebacker in history...

The only name that Iam a lil surpirsed that I havent heard come up at all in these post and is a really good football player is # 16 Parrish Cox, the corner from Oklahoma State. He is athletic, instintive, good hitter, and has a good motor. That sounds like a Raven to me.

I want us to draft either a linebacker or corner in the next draft. Defense first, and we will make do everywhere else. I know that Joe is our quaterback, but we are a defensive team first and I love that, and would never change it!

Am i the only one that thinks we may have to get a safety?
I mean i hope it never happens bc he's my favourite player but #20 hinted at retiring sometime soon (bc of his neck) so i think we should already start looking.

ps: and i don't mean taylor mays (he's a good hitter but more of a linebacker than a ballhawk) as i said first one that comes to mind is eric berry.
