Adam Terry Out For Year

Good thing we drafted Oher now.

Now we need a backup. Will Wille Anderson come back? He's on the retired reserve meaning he can come back if he wants to. Or do we just stick with what he have?

Well, someone needs to take his place and man the now-vacant position on our unbalanced line. Terry performed pretty well in the capacity, hopefully one of our younger guys (Cousins, Hale, Reitz) can step up and pave running lanes. We didn't draft them for nothing!

I'm fine with Oher starting but who will be his back-up?
Oniel Cousins. He is more then capable to line up next to Gaither or Oher on that unbalance line and bang some heads.

Imo he has made improvement since last year's camp. He is a big physical guy who loves to get nasty with defenders, remember all the fights last year?

Also Yanda could serve as that unbalance OT. That would allow him to work himself back slowly, but still be an big part of the oline.

I don't think this news hurts this team at all. Oher has been the starting RT since being drafted. The oline is still a strenght in my opinion.

Lets just hope we are lucky like Pittsburg was last season and have no major injuries. Well, at least to the offensive line and WR. We have sold depth everywhere else.

nice to have some depth. But looks like Oher is primed to be broken in quickly.

Please, for God's sake, don't use the words "Oher" and "broken" in the same sentence.

:P

When Willie retired I knew Oher would be the starting RT from day 1. This is just means more reps with the first string team for Oher, which gives him more experience and he'll be ready by the time we play the Chiefs.

Ok, does anyone know if Adam Terry's contract is up after this season?

To the doubters, this makes the Oher pick look very smart in hindsight. Regardless, as a few have said before, Oher probably would've won the job outright anyway. But still, having Adam Terry for depth would've been nice. This just means the team will sign another player now for insurance later in the season. Depth at OL, DL, WR, and DB can't be stressed enough in November and December on the way to January football.

I'd rather persuade Jonathan Ogden to come back instead of Willie Anderson.

If JO feels up to it... he can start. If he can't take on that much, just back up and spell the starters.

we still need to sign another guy even tho i think cousins is more than capable. I dont think Yanda is really an option cause he is gonna be the RG isnt he? OLine Left - Gaither - Grubbs - Birk - Yanda - Oher - Right

With Cousins as unbalanced line guy.

Linemen get injured all the time and we're running out of solid backups. This isn't a very good situation for us to be in. I'd hate to see us have to use our talented tight ends more as blockers again this year.

Terry is never healthy, but he was a backup at best so I'm not too concerned.

The line of Gaither/Grubbs/Birk/Yanda/Oher is just awesome.

We've had a rough time with second round draft picks, though.

Not sure I would consider Terry quality backup, but he was a backup.

This guy doesn't really impact what we can or can not do in the passing game. I was just telling a friend yesterday how I though cousins would replace Terry and Terry would be cut. So this in my opinion won't affect the Ravens negatively at all.

I look for them to bring in a RT for insurance, but oniel cousins will step up in my opinion

Hate to say it but I agree...Terry is an average T. He is kind of awkward looking due to being so tall and having relatively short arms. Not really the best build to push those athletic DEs.

Cousins is a good size with long arms, and is very strong and nasty. Great potential there especially backing up the RT slot.

I agree, Baltimore is well known for replacing open spots pretty well at least defensively. I do agree that we have plenty of offensive linemen. They are getting paid to play and this is the chance to show up and prove that coaching staff they deserve a big role in that O-line.

I'm really not surprized by this. I hate to say this but i cant see Terry ever playing with us again or with anyone. The injuries hes facing can ruin a career at his position. We need to stop forget wide receivers and look at the offensive line backups to give joe time to even make a play to a wide receiver and for running backs to find holes to run the offense. I always felt its not the ravens quaterbacks its always been the line. Every good passing team has good pass protection. Only reason last year we had some succes is because Harbaugh felt it was nessacaery to keep an extra person blocking (Todd Heap). Now we need to hone in on the line and everything trickles back from there

Just imagine how many of those posts/threads we would've had if the team drafted a WR instead of Michael Oher in the 1st round. ;)

Honestly, probably not as many since the majority of "fans" dont particularly care or think about the O-line, or D-line for that matter. These are the unsung heroes of the NFL - players who often go unnoticed because its the RB who gains the yards, or the WR who made the catch. Very rarely do I hear people say "oh man, did you see block that tackle laid on that guy?" People often neglect to pay the "line" the respect they deserve. After all, that RB wouldnt have gone anywhere if it weren't for all those holes the O-line created, or the WR wouldn't have made the catch if the QB wasn't given so much time from the protection created by the O-line.

I'm not saying that there aren't ANY people who actually care or pay attention to these things because I know I do. I think its just something that people tend to take for granted. And since lineman don't necessarily get a lot of glory or press coverage they are often back of mind concerns for the majority of football fans.

Was it bad that I was (keyphrase: WAS) more of a fan of Jason Brown than Jim Leonhard last season? Or the fact that I wanted Brown more than Leonhard to be retained during free agency? ;)

I feel ya.... Wasn't too happy when I heard he was leaving town.... Birk should fill in nicely though.
