The Ravens are taking the field for the first of two practices today. It's 89 degrees and there's not a cloud in the sky. It's going to be a sweltering morning in Westminster, Md.

Thanks for all the updates. I hope you continue through-out training camp. BTW how are you so fortunate to be at every practice, lol?

I really hope Smith and Davon Drew can push Heap for the TE spot. I have nothing against Heap but competition brings out the best in players.

WR Derrick Mason just missed catching a touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone. He was running full speed and his momentum carried him into the fans lining the field. He knocked down a little boy, but the kid wasn't hurt.

9:48:15 am
WR Kelley Washington just made a fantastic touchdown catch. He celebrated by perfoming Ray Lewis' dance, much to the fans' delight.

9:49:34 am
FB Le'Ron McClain just cleared the way for RB Ray Rice to score on a 5-yard run.

This is why QB Troy Smith may be relegated to third team: He had WR Justin Harper over the middle, but threw it right to DB Frank Walker for an easy interception.

Right now, one of the best position battles at camp is between QBs Troy Smith and John Beck to be the No.2 QB. They are both flawed and neither has outplayed the other.

How about Flacco? Havn't heard much about him other than Preston's report which I'm sure is exaggerated.

The Ravens are running a "last play of the game" drill from the 3, 5 and 10-yard lines. The team scored from the 3, but QB Joe Flacco failed to complete a pass in the end zone during the final two plays. Now, it is QB Troy Smith's turn.

Ross Tucker was there at camp and he's raving about Flacco. I posted the link in the TC 2009 section if you scroll down a little. He's looked great. Throwing interceptions is part of training camp. Every QB does it. The past couple of days he actually looked terrific, so whatever. Just ignore Preston. Just like Fox News he's entertaining, but what he reports has very little to do with reality. He has his own theories and loves to make things up in order to get people to read his articles.

The pre-season games should separate them.

Wish I could be there to watch. I've never made it out even though I'm always near by.

I know what you mean...I finally got out of work at a descent time today and went over to watch the final 45 minutes or so, but they decided to end practice early today, how convenient. I guess I'll try again tomorrow
