with the recent press release by Ray and th news of where suggs did his on training and buddy lee seeming to be in better then new condition , are offenses in out path in for a dark prognosis on their race for the endzone? Pryce has even said stuff about bulking up and maintaining speed, our D is now deep in line and corners , this speaks well for maintenance should one player go down.

anyone agree?

I think the (d) is going to be better than last year.
I think THEY think they have somthing to prove since Rex left.
Seemes they worked hard off season to be in good shape.
I picked more picks.
better backfield and more pressue on Qbacks = more picks.

If everyone stays healthy this looks to be a great year whether or not the o takes it to the next level or not.

I think the defense this year will without a doubt be better. Injuries killed us last year, but somehow we managed to stay in the hunt for the superbowl... We had injuries to key players (both corners... even washington for a few games, reed played hurt more than half the season, landry was out most of the year, our d-line got banged up and we lost buddy lee). To me... there is a few things we need to look at.

~our defensive line is healthy, worked their tails off during the offseason (greg, pryce)... and we have some newly added depth, and a draft pick that could potentially produce from day one.

~ray has made it a point to take gooden under his wing... once again, and focus even moreso on him, and conditioning him mentally and physically to take over the role bart played. and tavaras... is faster then bart... and hungry.

~our corners.... for the first time in years.. im actually not scared of being burnt every play. im HAPPY Rolle came back... he is a good corner i dont care what anyone says. our depth at corner is the best its been in YEARS

~ safeties: ... ED has had an entire offseason to rest his neck and shoulder.. and he will always be the man.. i actually expect more production from him this season, considering the added pressure on the qb we will get from having our line back... with the corners who will actually be able to stick some recievers. And... we have landry back ... who has also worked his TAIL off, and is a beast.

mattison im sure will give just as much flexibility to the D that rex did. Im sure Ray will still be able to make all the changes that he did on the fly in previous years.

Im excited to watch this season.. slowly things are falling back into place for the ravens, and we have a bunch of good young talent, with the right mix of veteran leaders... LETS GO BMORE!!!!!!

Our defense is going to awsome this year as usual. Along with an improved offense I think we can look forward to a very good season. :D

All of the guys out there looked jacked yesterday. Even Buddy Lee looked like he put on more Muscle. I think we might see a team comparable to the 2000 Baltimore Raven Defense if not better.

I think we will have a '07 like defensive performance, which was stellar.

Sarcasm I hope...

If there are no major injuries (knock on any wood that may be in your immediate area) then I think they could very well be just as good. If the Offense can sustain long drives and minimize turnovers then they can stay fresh. Fresh legs on the Ravens defense = a long day for opponents when they get the ball.

kinda goes to show you what the defense can really do with pressure on both sides. the secondary was just chillin waiting for balls to be thrown up.

I started this incase you guys didnt know regular LBs vs hybrids- LB= 145ppsi on full impact blitz tackle unabstructed , but Hybrids are almost 200ppsi on impact , and now on top of worring about that Ed Reed in the secondary looking at you daring you to throw that pass, just daring you to take a chance lol so either ray or t-sizzle or reed take your picks lets not mention the bears on the frontline that see that magic honey pot containg 6 lovely lovely points and they want it. now who wants to step in for palmer or ben any takers ?????

it would have been retarted the domination the defense would have layed down in that game.

if we played in that game, the bears would have been demoted to cub scouts

The Ravens Defense will be sick this year. It will all start up front.

We have great depth going 2 deep on the line. Ngata/Bannan Gregg/McKinney, Pryce/Edwards. Then you have Kurger and Divens who could have an impact on the line. It will be hard for anybody to handle that Dline. That's a lot of big bodies that will free up or LBs.

Ray and T.Good will be very quick in the middle this year. Its scary to think about a quicker, better Ray Lewis but it seems that what we have, with Ray droppin 15 pounds. T.Good will just be a younger faster Scott. T.Good plays behind his pads and goes hard 100% of the time. Think back to 06' the hit that Scott laid on Ben, that what you can expect from T.Good this year.

Suggs and JJ will be solid as usual on the outside. I think Suggs will play out of his mind this year and live up to that contract. I look for double digit sacks from Suggs(that will satisfy stat people). If Barnes can stay healthy, I can see he and Kurger adding even more pressure from the outside.

That front 7 will be awesome stopping the run, and adding 06' type pressure. That will only make the secondary more effective.

We have one of the fastest secondaries in the league. Fox and Wash are good at playing press or off man. They will be good at sticking to their man all over the field, so hopefully thay will help with Pit. Ed is Ed. He is the best defensive playmeker in the NFL. Ed is just a nightmare for quaterbacks. The X factor to me is Landry. People tend to have a... what have you done for me lately view, so Leonhart is or was a fan favorite. However, before his injury Landry was in the process of being one of the best young safeties in the league. Harbs was very impressed with Landry's work ethic last year and it seems to be the same this year. Landry will bring that physical nastiness to this defense that Leonheart couldn't.

Overall I think this defense have stars at every level. Like I said before, it starts up front and there won't be many DLines in the NFL then the Ravens.

The early signs from camp is that Coach Matty will have a defense just as unpredictable as Rex, but with even more pressure.

I love the way Ray responded to the question about Rex and Bart leaving. Let them do what they wanna do with the Jets, but we are the Ravens. We have guys that want to be here and believe in the persona this defense has built.

Not only won't this defense take a step back, but we will be even better this year. This defense didn't allow a team to score more then 13 points at M&T Bank, but be surprise to see that continue this year.

Sam Koch(yes he is a defensive payer) will be even better this year. If the offense can put up 24-28 points a game it will be hard for anyone to beat us.

I can't wait to see how coach calls the defense. After watching Rex Ryan and his ridiculous schemes that dominated it'll be interested to see how Greg does it. I hope we see the same amount of creativity and blitzing that Rex did.

I'm hoping Ed Reed is healthy and 100% ready to go, if he goes down we are finished. He is our defense, he won us so many games last season by himself I don't want to imagine how our lineup will look without him.

A pick is all on the DB, he has to read the coute, jump it and catch the ball. It's all on the defensive back.

That's only true in some cases. A good pass-rush can make a QB uncomfortable and force him to throw an errant ball, also if the throwing motion is altered at all, the ball will come out differently. And that's completely leaving out things like tipped balls and such. So, no, it is not "all on the DB".

I'm expecting a huge year from the D. How is anyone gonna run on the Ravens? With Gregg back, and an extremely fast set of LB's. They're gonna make most teams one dimensional, which is always a good thing for a defense!

I know! We might not be the best at stopping the pass but if they can't run on us like usual then the interceptions start happening and all the sudden we are up by 20 (eagles game last year). I think it is easier to pick one then get a fumble.
