Ravnet

Week 5 Wrap Up

16 posts in this topic

Not a very convincing win, at all for the birds today. McNair did not even attempt a pass over six yards for the entire first half of the game, and it showed as the Ravens scored a mere six points off of two Stover field goals. The defense looked very good, but should have done better than three sacks considering the fact that the niners are last in almost every offensive category and their backup quarterback is now in. Regardless, the offense was the real problem, it may not appear like he had another off game in the stats as he went 29/43 with 214 yards, but McNair did nothing for the team today.

He seems reluctant to look upfield ever because he has aired every other long ball this year down the field. The offensive line needs to be given credit this year, they have taken a huge, huge beating with 3/5 starters out and they continue to give McNair MORE than enough time to complete a pass while run blocking for McGahee also. So far we have play no one at all, in no game has this team showed their potential to be a great team. When he have to play the Steelers and Patriots and Colts it will be a wake up call. We sit at 3-2 and could easily be 0-5. Injuries are like roll call this year, Ogden, Heap, Flynn, Terry, Rolle, and Trevor all sat out this game and that will more than definitely come back to bite us in the future. Not looking too good but a win is a win, the pessimism comes from the fact that our record was pretty last year, and we even looked like a good team, but still lost our first playoff game.

Ive had a revelation! The red zone only applies to all the OTHER teams. We have the RED WALL. It prevents the ball from getting passed or run into the opponents end zone. Luckily we have Stover who can kick it over the wall. Learn how to count in multiples of three. It will make the scoring easier to figure!

how can you not be proud of them....? -_-

you complain about mcneirs passing as well but you dont understand...when you have a bad O-line and get rushed every down you have to get rid of the ball quickly;deep passes take time dude...you must be blind if you think mcneir has plently of time to pass have you ever watched a game? so like seriously if i was you id shut up and stop talkin down the ravens like that cuz you dont no what your talkin about.

I'm sorry bandanna but I don't know how you can disagree with these guys. Billick's play calling is absolutely pathetic. If it's 3rd down and over 6 yards we might as well bring out the punter, just forget about trying to get the first down. Every time the broadcasters turn it over to the studio to give an update, I find myself saying "why can't we do that?" The Ravens make it so hard on themselves to do ANYTHING. Honestly, it's not even fun to watch the Ravens anymore. Even though we put one in the win column, I still feel like we lost.

A win is a win! We shouldn't complain. With all the injuries we have, we did I pretty darned good job. Our defense looked good and that is huge, so stop this pessimism, and let's hope for the best. I still think we have a quality team with quality players - we just started a little slow - and we are 3-2- not bad. Look, the addition of Magahee was a plus, and now Boller can help us too- so that is a plus - so we will see - We have to give them a break!!!!!! This is our team - I'm glad I got to see them in the 4th quarter. I live in Naples - and I hardly ever get to see them - One thing- so far this team keeps us at the edge of our seats - never boring! Although I would love a blowout once in awhile!!!

GO RAVENS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I say the games aren't fun to watch I meant they are extremely frustrating. I'm as big as a Raven's fan as you'll see, I live in Cape Coral Ravensfanforever, and I'm constantly defending my boys. Back up players needs to step up and fill in the roll of the injured players, not saying that anyone is going to be able to take the place of Ogden. When someone goes down, everyone else needs to step it up just another level.

Hahaha? Steve has all the time in the world, he has 4-5 seconds on a lot of plays but still opts to throw the 3 yard button hook that Mason has run, and Derrick doesn't do anything but slide to avoid the fumble so it results in a very minimal gain. If you watched Steve in his prime with the Titans, which I did, he would hit those short routes when the pocket collapsed and he only had 2-3 seconds. In Tennessee when he had 4-5 seconds, he would always find a receiver down the field for a big gain because good quarterbacks take advantage of that much time in the pocket. In drills quarterbacks are taught to get rid of the ball within a 3 second span, and QB's with a quick release have an even bigger advantage, hence why Marino was so great. The O-line surrendered no sacks this game and they're extremely beat up. If you're gonna trash me at least do it right.

The reason I am being such a pessimist is because I know that this kind of play will barely get us to the playoffs, let alone win the super bowl. If we want to be serious contenders there has to be a lot of things that have to change, mainly McNair. You cannot pin our failures on the injuries because these teams shouldn't even compete with us.

I can not agree more. He looks so old now! This offense with all our weapons looks pathetic. There is no reason we sould not have an explosive offense - oh wait there are 2 reasons - McNair & Billick! :( I have a fear this is how the entire season will be unless there is a change at QB & our offensive coordinator actually starts calling the offensive plays instead pf Billick!

it'll hopefully all get straightened out with things.....the absolute man Focal point in practice this week and for MANY weeks to come, would have to be "Red Zone Offense and moving the ball, and scoring".....we have to Drill that into their heads and keep doing it until they finally convert downs and score on a regular basis

Same old boring crap for yet another week, it won't end until we end up 8 and 8 for the season!
