Ravens -49ers Past History

13 posts in this topic

I know that the Ravens and 49ers have only played a 2 times against each other, but does anyone else have any stand out memories in the past games?

One game really stands out in my mind, i had to look up the year--it was 2003 on 11/30 at home, the Ravens killed the 49ers 44-6, Jim Mora Jr was the Defensive coordinator, I remember him running on to the field screaming at Brian Billick for running up the score after the game. If I remember correctly the last 2 scores were made by the defense and he thought they should take a knee

Yes, I remember that game and have it recorded from the 2003 season; Mora seems to have forgotten the previous meeting between the Ravens-49ers in '96 at SF, Elvis Grbac scored on a QB sneak late in the game with score already 31-20 49ers, he should have taken a knee, but didn't, SF won 38-20, and that was the first meeting between the two cities since 1972. The 44-6 score was the largest margin of victory ever for the Ravens behind only the 48-3 blowout win over Green Bay two years ago. And I'm an old Baltimore Colts fan, and it meant alot to me for the Ravens to beat SF & GB like they did.

Jamal Lewis had a big day vs SF here in that 44-6 game; the Niners even had both Jeff Garcia & Terrell Owens.

Here are some photos from the game...if you notice I took a picture of the score with 1:57 left in the game and it was 37-6, then its 44-6 with 1:10 left...seems we were rubbing it in a little...payback is hell.

I also remember this game cuz TO was a free agent, the niners werent doing well, and duing warmups TO was right in front of us, we were yelling at hime he'd llok good in purple, and he just smiled.....then of course we know the rest of story...

McGahee and Gore will both tear up

BAL 31 SFO 28

Gore was the only positive part of san fransisco's offense last week they will use him more

too bad gore wont be the only great rusher the Ravens D has stopped in the past 4 weeks. i really don't think gore will hit 100 in this one. he may get close, but wont get there.

Dont Gore and McGahee go way back to their college days when they were both teammates?......should add to the spark in this one...you know..give it a little spice!

our run d hasn't lost a step at all from last year so Gore may do better than say, Jamal Lewis but overall I don't think he'll break 100

i think our Run Defense is overall, Number 1 so i dont think we lost a step there, i think the reason why some people say that the Ravens Defense has "lost a Step" is because, we've had some injuries/illnesses at some crucial Positions (Rolle, Pryce) that are vital to our defense, and opposing teams see that, know that there is back up players who dont really "know" the position very well and therefore, they take full advantage of it and ultimately resulting in the ball going that way and us giving up more and we are used to in what is regarded as "Big Plays".....i think that once we get EVERYONE back and up to par and everything, we can be the defense we're used to seeing and used to seeing dominate....nothing really changed this off-season with our defense other than A.D. leaving, so we got the potential, we've just been hit with a few injuries, put back up's in there to try and fill the viod, and thats resulted in some big plays for the opposing teams....
