Laron vs. Dawan

14 posts in this topic

These guys are both great safties but who do you guys think will be better in the future?

Dawan has got C-Mac and Ed Reed

Laron has got Sean Taylor and Shawn Springs

I've gotta say Dawan (just because he is a raven) and he is around a much better defense but Laron will also be a great player and i like em both (but dawan is better)

Too early to tell. I think I'll wait until I see them both in NFL action in the same season this year before I make a comparison.

Dawan will have the better stats...but Laron will have a fatter wallet...courtesy of Dan Snyder. :P:lol:

Dawan can take alot more risks, he can go up for the pick because he knows that he has Ed and Chris behind him if he slips up....most of the time. In the case of Laron, he can't take any risks cause Shaun Taylor is just interested in jacking someone up and then staring them up. Hitting a punter hard makes his day.

They both seem fairly similar to me

Both play SS

Dawan will get more help from the best FS in the league.

Laron will struggle becuase both he and Taylor like to play close to the line

It will be much like Adam Archuleta + Taylor last season

I heard from my dad's friend (Who is a Redskins fan, we got him down here last draft weekend and went to Hooters :P ) that LaRon is more of a ball-hawking saftey, and the skins already have one of those in Sean Taylor. Dawan is the kind that stays back, so he and Reed need to communicate on when Reed should go up and Dawan stays back.

My pick goes Dawan, unbiased.

I agree with the wait and see approach, but if I had to answer I'd say Laron will be better, he will be in the same league as Reed, Dawkins, and Polamalu real soon. He can do it all, cover, defend the run, blitz, he's going to be a great player (which is unfortunate because he plays for the Skins). Dawan is a good player but he'll never be "the guy" in a secondary, just a complimentary player. Which is fine for us because he won't have to be.

I hope Laron has a great career only because I love what his brother is doing for us. Now if for some reason Dawan isn't able to follow up on last season and improve I'll sacrifice some fried chicken and curse them both!!!

Landry had a good season last year! what? 6 picks, a couple back for TDs...that's just off my head, i don't know the exact stats but it's around those...not too shabby.

Well, its too early to tell because LaRon hasn't played a NFL game yet.

As a prospect coming out of college LaRon was defentily bigger but

in the end I really do think that Dawan will have a better carrer because he has

a better supporting cast

I'll tentatively agree.

Though I still stand by my earlier statement that I'll reserve judgment until seeing them both complete a full NFL season together.

I agree with all those who want to wait and see, I think it is premature to start saying whos the best when LaRon hasn't even played yet. After all its not like you can say that just because he was good in college that it will translate into NFL success, you don't have to look very far in the Draft History books to see that.

After this season though, I think we'll be better prepared to make the comparison, especailly after we get to see the two brothers play against each other, then I think this thread will have some real room for discussion.

They both have talent and it's hard to say without seeing Laron on the field yet but he can't go wrong with his brother up the road giving him a few pointers from his experience with the #1 Defense in the league.
