What Does Everybody Think Of Billick?

41 posts in this topic

I like Billick, and I can't think of anyone else I'd want coaching this team.

The Ravens have been contenders ever since he has been here...and even when they didn't have the personel, they were still far better than expected.

Plus, I'd rather stick with the devil I know than go with the devil I don't.

It just wouldn't seem right without Billick on the sidelines.

But in 2000 we had arguably the best defense in football history and a bad offense. Now we have a halfass job of offense and defense.

our defense isn't halfassed

our offense isn't halfassed

our defense is still respected and its not as bad as these first few weeks have shown. injuries have played a key role in their lackluster performances but still we are dominating the run and forcing the other team to air it out to try for the win. unfortunately without Rolle, who gets more crap than he deserves, we cannot stop the opposing teams through the air so well.

our offense is producing very nice numbers through the course of each game, but the key ingredient that's been missing is the ability to capitalize good field position and scoring in redzone situations. our offense is actually in the top 10 throughout the league, but like I said the red zone failures are killin us as much as the injuries. once we find our scoring rhythm and can get the ball into the endzone we'll be a very tough team to compete against. until that clicks and until our defense is healthy it'll be a struglle game after game, but don't think for a second that either side of our team will be slackin off.

right now, id say (when our roster is fully healthy) that our defense is one of the top ones in the league AND our offense as well. when these 2, along with our special teams unit, play at full strength then we ARE a FORCE to be RECKONED WITH

Its not just Billick. Lets not forget in Minnesota he had Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Robert Smith, Chuck Evans, and an all pro offensive line with three number one draft picks, and Warren Moon and Randall Cunningham could throw the ball 70 yards. McNair rarely throws it long anymore and with his added groin injury he's further hampered from throwing long.

Billick also has this year plus two more years at $5 mill per year. He's not going anywhere and Bisciotti is not eating $15 million just to placate some wannabee offensive coordinators.

And who would we hire? Romeo Cromel when he gets canned by Cleveland? Bill Belichicks don't grow on trees.

And if I'm not mistaken I don't recall Billick being the one that fumbled the ball lst week (Figurs) or threw the interception (McNair) or let the receiver run right by him for an easy 6 (McAlister). That was the game right there. I think Rex Ryan needs to be looked at a little closer. We have had absolutely no pass rush since Pryce got hurt and with Rolle out our secondary has been terrible. Also why did our special teams allow Joshua Cribbs to run the opening kick off back to the 50? Frank Gantz Jr needs a little closer look.

ehhh, i dunno about all that. Our special teams unit is pretty good actually, and Cribbs is just fast and has great vision. Rex Ryan doesnt really have a choice in the situation. When you have that many injuries at key positions, he has to play conservative. With Rolle out, you cant rush everyone and their mother, cause our secondary cant shut recievers down. and you cant play only coverage cause you sacrifice the rush. I would be playing conservative also if i had Pryce and Rolle out. They will get back on track tho, i think we'll see some good things in SF, and something to grow on.

He Wins Games!

I hope we are saying that in a few weeks. :( Right now he does not look good as an OC. Maybe he should just start to focus on his head coaching job.

My friend, you're so hanging onto the past! In 2000,our defense was dominating, intimidating, feared, and convincing. They believed in one another, fed off each other, and KNEW nobody could stop 'em.Now,fast forward... The defense we have on the field now,is older, much more injury prone, and average at best. The intensity, desire, and chemistry, has all but disappeared.Teams no longer fear our defense.Teams know they can exploit this defense, and they take advantage of it each week. All I can say is,good thing we have good ol' reliable Matt Stover!

I TOTALLY disagree with that statement. Those characteristics are still very evident. You just have to watch how they interact with each other before and during the gam. This is a defense that feeds off themselves and the fans. You should have seen how fired up they were in San Fran when they ran out of the tunnel and saw a large crowd of Ravens fans there. They put on a "old time" Ravens defense display, too.

i agree, Our Defense still has teh fire and the desire to dominate opponents, all you really have to do is listen to Ray lewis when he's wired or in "Wired Raw" in a game....that tells you right there, that this defense still has the same Fire, and intensity and drive and willingness to succeed than ever before, if you Recall (if you watched the san fran game wired) Ray lewis was Pumped!......he tells you that this is his first time in San Fran and he had a shot when he was a rookie but an injury had sidelined him from starting.....so that game was like "WOW!" to Ray personally....yes thats teh defense we are used to seeing.....domination
