This Game Was Over...

as soon as Steve McNair stepped onto the field. If Brian Billick can't see that he's hurt, then he needs to find another team to coach, because he is hurting this one..

I wanted Boller in for the start of the second half, I sure hope he comes in for the 4th

I thought I would never say this, but I honestly think Boller should be the starter. It seems to me that Boller has confidence in himself and more importantly his fellow teamates do as well. That was something that was severly lacking in the seasons past.

As far as McNair, hes hurt and his clock management is horrid. How many delay of game penalties has he had this season, not to mention turnovers?

Uggghhhhh!!!!!!!

we need some SERIOUS Work on offense AND Defense.....that kind of game should NOT HAVE HAPPENED!!!!!!! the opponent won yet again, not on their offense but off of our freaking turnovers!!!! and in ability to score in hte Red zone!....one all but one of our drives we were in the browns side of the field!!!! yet we failed to convert........i say No time off this week....and serious grinding of the Offense and converting along with the Defense....letting up that many points....im disgusted...totally disgusted.....

BrownsFan i tip my hat to you for the winning prediction.... Our offense and defense totally sucked today...and we were un able to convert drives into Points we needed..im disgusted

our offense needs to SERIOUSLY work on converting the ball and getting the ball downfield....and SCORING, that performance today was absolutely embarassing by all means...Our Defense Also needs ALOT fo work. i say for them to hit the practice field ASAP! and work on sacking the QB, stopping the RB (which we did) more, and Intercepting PASSES!!!!!!

I was gonna start a thread on this but since this is open I'll put it here. My personal game observations:

1.) Our offensive line gets amazing kudos. ZERO sacks for Derek Anderson today and 2 total in 15 quarters of play for him. Joe Thomas is proving why we drafted him #3 overall and the play by our team so far offensively shows that Quinn DOES NOT need to be in right now as I have said from day one. Give him time and he will get his chance.

2.) Willis McGahee was impressive but as I said also with that too, he has GOT to be more involved in your offense. Billick needs to realize this because he is just too good to only carry the ball 14 times. If I were a Ravens fan, that to me would just simply be unacceptable. McNair (or Boller) can NOT do this on their own.

3.) Your defense with the exception of a couple big runs played very well and as well as they could of. The only real MAJOR mistake was the long TD pass to Braylon that I saw.

4.) It wasn't meant to be but keep in mind, you're still 2-2. And this just proves further IMO that the AFC North = BEST DIVISION in the NFL.

With all that said I have to get my small gloat in, CONGRATS TO CLEVELAND!! :D

ok first, i'd like to say that was a horrible loss, in a MUCH needed game in our division. and i hope it slaps the ravens in the face and makes them realize we cant play that way against a tough a** browns team. and another other team in the nfl for that matter. second i'd like to say, brownsfan, your a class guy, i like you. and coming to our forumns and showing respect like that is definantly commendable.

What i'd like to say is this. Ok at first , after seeing the first quarter of this game, i was like everyone else, and wanted Mcnine to sit his a** down. But to be completely honest, Mcnair played pretty damn decent when you look at was he was "forced" to do when he got behind, his 3rd down conversion % which was really ******* good. I think he was 10/13 on 3rd down? ... correct me if im wrong. He avoided pressure for most of the contest, and show some elussiveness when he was hurried. He kept composure, he did everything in his power to keep himself in the game.

1. Willis play beautifully, running and in the pass game. He turned like 3 plays ... "that should have been for no gain or a loss... into a big a** gain. He made MANY key blocks that kept Mcnair off his back. Ended the day with 104 yards on 14 carries.... you do the math on that one.

2. Mcnair, once again, played good i thought. Except for acouple plays where his timing was thrown off (specifically in the end of the second quarter when we were on the Clevend 11 and couldnt put the ball in the end zone). He made 3 ball passes on that drive alone. And 1 or 2 more later in the game.

3. Our DEFENSE , shut the browns down despite the long ball where CMac guesses ... and guessed wrong (the one where he got BURNT). 1 long run by Lewis, which.. was just an awesome block by the RG of clevend that sprang him free. Our tackling was "better" .. not the best , but better. You take that 1 long 78 yard pass away and it puts Anderson at like... 130 yds.? ... thats good. Oh and yet another game without allowing a 100 yd back.

4. Special teams was amature at best. Cribs.. good return man. Definantly a weapon for CLE. Yamon, was just nervous and couldnt get it together. Oh well, we'll see him again ( his back atleast).

5. Fact is , as a TEAM, we couldnt keep it together. We crumbled to a very competetive divisional opponent. We had 3 key penalties that killed us. Either ended a drive, or put us in 4th and 22 at the end of the game. And a ******* OFFSIDE call on a CLE field goal attempt that was MISSED. Ended up in a first down. We sucked as a TEAM today, "accross the board" at certain moments. I wouldnt focus on 1 person or 1 thing that handed us this loss.

It was the lack of execution on our part, and CLE executing exactly what they had to , to "finish"

Im not to disheartened, i saw alot of good things from this team today. We drove the ball pretty easily... were in their territory 7/8 drives.. just couldnt "execute" and get the ball in the endzone.

on a side note, Yanda was getting owned at the end. work on the stamina big boy... you got PIT left to take on in our division this year .

Appreciate the compliment dsizzle thank you and I think your observation is pretty much right on. Your offense IMO didn't play extremely well BUT they got the ball down the field, they just simply couldn't convert. But my only personal criticism of your offense is McGahee, 104 yards but *only* 14 carries? That's just really insane IMO.

yea i agree brownsfan, but unfortunantly billick when put in a position down by 21 points, he becomes a Vikings offensive coordinator again lol . he was forced to pass

Can't wait for Pryce and Rolle to get back in.

Hopefully Heap's injury isn't serious.

Willis looked GREAT, would definitely like to see him get more carries as he's been getting better and better.

Very tough loss today, but it's only September.

It's a shame to see a great defense being wasted, once again. Billick needs to get his act together and start opening up the offense. Every defense that plays us might as well just be prepared for passes no more than twenty yards. I have the DirecTV NFL Sunday Package and I get to watch all the games every Sunday, and it's so hard to watch every other team take a deep shot every once in a while. I think it would be so effective too because no coordinator would be expecting it. The Raven's wide receivers never seem to get any yards after the catch because every route has them coming back for the ball, resulting in them being tackled immediately. Using more 3 or 4-wide receiver sets would even be beneficial so the field would be spread out and not have the defense packed between the hashes. It's pathetic to witness this potential not being used to its full potential. How can these "professional" coaches and staff members not see the same things that the fans do?

THERE IS NO WAY MCNAIR SHOULD BE QUARTERBACK HE CANT MOVE OR THROW DOWNFIELD

Man where do we start? Did someone slip a 2005 game in? I agree with this statement. I found myself wishing for Boller mid 2nd quarter. It was clear to me that SM wasnt going to have "it" this game. Our opponents have to know we dont have the long strike with Mcnair. We have great receivers! Mcnair prefers the 7-20 yd pass constantly, even if wont get a first down. When Boller is in, there is at least hope he will hook up with MC, DW or DM. The opponent has to respect this possibility. He has the cannon our "O" is missing. If we dont start going vertical, well never be in contention for playoffs. Our opponents can play cover two knowing we are desperate and close us out.

Our D looked like they took NYQUIL on the bus to the stadium. WTHeck? CMAC gets beat...Not one sack...

I have to question the play calling again! Why do we run so often with time running out and late in the game? Is it because BB knows Mcnair cant throw the bomb?

Kudos to WM! I enjoy watching him run. Over 100yds rushing and we get torched still.

I predicted a 13-3 year season.I dont know now. With Boller at the helm maybe. We have all the pieces...A great runner, great receivers, great D and a good O line. If we keep playing this way we will be lucky to go .500.

That being said, I think its time to start Boller. He has really progressed under SM. Let him play.

Congrats to the Browns. They had their s#%t together today and showed.

dsizzle, brownsfan, and ravensteve, y'all are pretty much on point with your posts, good stuff. I have a post with my views on the game in another topic so I won't say all of that again here but as for being forced to pass, I think Billick should've ran the game more smoothly. It was apparent to me that McNair began to lose his composure after the first quarter, though he made it all the way down to the Brown's side of the field it just looked like a repeat of indy every drive. All that work just to let it slip by. I think Billick reverted to airing it out too quickly, and should have used McGahee a lot more in the first half to control the flow of the game, instead of having Cleveland break out the way they did (CMAC WHAT WERE YA THINKIN BUD!?!?).

so much room for improvement, but I still believe we have super bowl possibilities if our team shapes up mid season when our defense has all its starters back and Boller gets a chance to run our offense and MCGAHEE GETS MORE CARRIES.

My Oh My I think we got a winner! I wanna check to see if that one run found its way onto the nfl network or youtube or something becuase he made a hell of an effort on the limited number of carries he got. GET HIM THE BALL BILLICK!!!
