Gregg Coming Back Strong For Ravens

20 posts in this topic

"With no evidence of swelling or any serious twinges of pain, Gregg is forging an impressive comeback as he tries to reclaim his status as one of the most dominant run-stopping defensive linemen in the league.

The surgery, which involves an element of risk as surgeons literally drill holes into the bone to create scar tissue to replace an absence of cartilage in the joint, is regarded as a total success.
"It feels go od, no swelling. At this time last year, I would lay in my bed at training camp and I couldn't even straighten out my leg. I still have my sea legs, but they're coming back. It's going good so far, but we ain't really hit nobody."

Other than a black sleeve supporting his left knee, there aren't any visible signs of the nearly career-ending knee problem that Gregg experienced last season.

Gregg seems to be on the verge of overcoming an injury that had him contemplating retirement at one point last year.

With Gregg back in the middle of the defense, an unmistakable old-school, folksy personality has returned to the Ravens as well. Gregg is one of the most intense, active nose guards in the league.

Gregg is one of the most productive defensive linemen in recent NFL history.

During a decade in the NFL, the former University of Oklahoma standout has recorded 618 career tackles, 16 1/2 sacks, six fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

It's been a long time coming for him, and Gregg is planning on making some noise this fall by crashing into people with his stocky frame.

"Yeah, a lot of people thought I was dead," Gregg said. "I'm out there to compete. I look at how much I really miss the game. This is fun for me."

As if the D-line wasn't already STELLAR last year, Buddy Lee is back in town and with 2 good wheels! This is GREAT news, good luck to opposing running games.... Man, I wish Gregg would have been here last year to shutdown that horrific Giants run game! Ngata is great but man you can't deny Kelly's worth!

Man, I can't wait till Gregg starts putting dents in people's chests. He's the unsung hero on our Dline.

Ngata is a better player than he was as a rookie. If Gregg can be the player he was in 06, the defense could do some special things this year.

Imagine how good this defense could be with a healthy Gregg in the middle along with Ngata. And Pryce. Hopefully he doesn't have any setbacks, he could really make a difference this season.

I realy like Gregg. I hope that he can get through training camp strong and get back to being the strong run stoper that he was for us. :D

Wow, I don't think you guys realize how serious his injury was. To get back from that near 100% and improving is nearly unheard of.

Good to hear. In the latest update from training camp, Duffy said he made a tackle on Ray Rice springing from his knees.

If the line stays healthy its going to be pretty ridiculous how little anyone runs on us.

You will see the Ravens get at Big Ben this year, our Dline will dominate.

and this is not the norm, remember 2 games out of the 3 were under 28 total but I will say Gregg and Ngata in a 4-3 with pryce and kruger would be a nightmare for ben, they would tear through that line like me at an all you can eat sushi bar
