Ravens Eying Marshall Again?

Berad you completely missed my point but I understand where your coming from. Kia there's no CBA in place after this season. So to say we won't have the cap space needed is irrelevant. For all we know there will be no cap. But...once they do strike a new deal you can all but guarantee the PA won't settle for scraps. Meaning at minimum the salary cap will be no worse then the deal they previously had in place. And if you assume that's the case then by current standards we will already have enough room. I think people are forgetting that the main reason our cap is so tight this year is bcuz we still have McNair's and Ogden's cap hits on the books. Heap and McGahee will be cap casualities next year bcuz its uncapped and we can clear our books of their monster salaries. Mcgahes $40 Mill contract would look a lot better on Haloti now wouldn't it? Heaps $6-8 mill a year would better suit a much younger franchise O-lineman now wouldn't it? Not to mention we still have the whole Franchise tag thing if push comes to shove with Ngata.

To the guy who compared Clayton to Marshall...*sigh* Dude I don't even know wjat to say to you.

Just bcuz Mason is back does not mean we still don't need a play making WR the likes of Marshall and Boldin. Why else would we have attempted to land Anquan b4 the draft? Correct me if I'm wrong but Mason hadn't retired/unretire of yet now did he? Marshall is worth every dollar and every pick. The only concerns you should have is with his off field mishaps but that issue is for another day.

I'm practically dancing on the ceiling now. With Mason back, maybe this thread can get what it truly deserves and DIE.

True, the Ravens did try to reel in Boldin before/during the draft, but they retracted when the price was too steep. They obviously know the receiver position isn't one of the strong points on the team but they aren't willing to jeopardize the organizations' future by giving away valuable draft picks. Anything can happen in the NFL and the Ravens are smart enough not to leave themselves vulnerable without any contingency plan(s). An extreme example of Mike Ditka trading an entire year's worth of picks for Ricky Williams comes to mind. Yes, I know, that's nowhere near what the you're suggesting but it follows along the same basis.

That said, hell yeah, Brandon Marshall is a great talent. There is no doubt he would help this team if he were on it. But there are things to consider besides his vast legal troubles. He is coming off a hip-surgery in March, has been somewhat injury prone (sometimes for idiotic reasons), has been labeled and acted like a diva, and wants a big, new contract for his next team.

All in all, trading for Brandon Marshall is not the slam-dunk, home-run, no-brainer you think it is. If it was, he would be here and we would have nothing to talk about..

The Raven just don't have the pressure or confidence to make the move of Marshall anymore. Our big ticket Receiver will have to be pursued next year.

First of all, sick sig

Second, Marshall is a free agent next year. Why give up draft picks now when you can give up nothing in the offseason. Just be patient Ravens fans. And if we can't get him, Roddy White(although the Falcons will probably resign him) and Braylon(sp?) Edwards are also available.

Ohhhh, if Roddy White was available as a FA. My mouth is watering. A young, extremely talented, CLEAN, player.. yum! :P

If next year is uncapped, I'm not 100% sure but wouldn't none of them be free agents?
