Our 1St And 2Nd Round Picks Still Are Not Signed!

24 posts in this topic

Its getting down to the wire now. Rookies are supposed to report Tuesday, right? We are in better shape then at this point last year because only two remain unsigned, we had like 4 unsigned at this time. Anyways, any word on how close we are to getting Oher and Kruger signed?

Oher will be signed in time, not sure bout kruger. Or even if they dont sign I doubt they will hold out of camp

Come to think of it, a large number of 1st and 2nd round picks remain unsigned as of yet.

Though there are usually a significant number of unsigned picks headed into training camp annually, I think this year's crop may be the largest, likely due to the possibility of an uncapped season coming soon. It used to be that the 1st overall selection would set the bar for contracts, but even though Matthew Stafford has long been signed, agents are likely fighting to negotiate contracts that deliver big guaranteed payouts upfront in the event of an uncapped season.

That last holdout we had was back in 2006 (Ngata) and that was only for one day; I think it will all work out.

The last I heard was this:

With a general lack of 1st round picks signed, we really dont know the value for our "slot." We dont want to overpay, so id imagine we'll wait until more 1st round picks are signed.

With everything I've seen and heard about Oher I cant see him not being in camp. I think getting Suggs done will make the rest easier. No worries

Aaron Wilson is losing crediabilty. This is the second time this summer that he's been dead wrong. He's the same guy that reported that Suggs turned down Jarred Allen money from the Ravens.

Aaron has to go with what the agents tell him. One thing, though, once an agent lies to Aaron he doesn't trust that agent any more.

If they don't sign they would have to hold out. You can't practice or even been at team Facilities without being under contract. Unless you came out as a fan, but he still couldn't practice.

I think Oher will sign because he has made it known how bad he wanted to be in camp. I think it will come down to the last 2 days before camp but he will definately be there imo. He has the starting RT spot locked down if he's their day one. So missing anytime will only hurt him.

Good news. Alex Mac C for the browns has signed. He was selected two spots ahead of oher and he's also a o lineman (yes i know centers make less than tackles) so we do have a bench mark to work with. I doubt this will take long.

I dont know how guys who have not played a snap in the NFL feel like they can hold out. There needs to be a rookie contract with a minimum and a maximum contract price. These guys have not stepped on a pro field yet but think they should be paid big or they wont show up. Well Oher dont show up, Cousins step up. Let his arse walk. It is not like we did not survive before him. See what he gets offered anywhere else. It is ridiculous.

Relax... only FOUR out of 32 1st Round picks have signed. Oher's agent is waiting for the picks before and after him to sign so he can slot Michael in between. Oher has to get the best deal possible, and that means he has to wait a little while longer. It happens.

Yeah, who the hell does he think he is, not showing up to a job that isnt paying him yet? I am sure you would be there, risking injury without compensation, no matter what. <_<

So you'd show up to camp and risk injury without a contract?

Do you understand that if he does get hurt without being under contract that the Ravens don't owe him a cent?

It has nothing to do with experience but everything to do with security. It is well known that Oher wants to be at camp on the first day but it would be incredibly stupid for him to do so without being under contract.

He even took a huge risk participating in mini camp while not under a contract. But the official training camp is the "real deal". This is where guys can get seriously injured. You don't risk it without a contract.

Chill out!
