aman there Hodges674, but you forgot about carson will be back to pro bowl form, and not to mention with rey in the lineup with former usc teammate keith rivers along side the rest of our d and new defensive toys (tank, roy williams) the defense should be ranked in the top 10 if not top 5. and personally i think we have a good chance of making it to the super bowl"
=====
Do Bengals fans really think they are going to the super bowl because of a "good" draft and the additions of Tank Johnson and Roy Williams???? And now Somehow Chris Henry is going to awaken into some powerhouse WR who never gets in trouble??? And Cedric Benson is going to shed the BUST label and run for 2000 yards??? Bengals fans are drinking way to much Ocho Cinco brand vodka..

They're drinking the I need to find a new cliche and a few of them are sipping on the Hatorade. xD

I'm not sure why they are so confidant that Carson will return to Pro-Bowl form (how many years ago was that?) or why a couple of rookies are going to improve them astronomically, but hope springs eternal. They might as well have their fun; the season starts soon and all of their hopes and dreams will come crashing down.

Hopefully the players will be overconfident as well, then Ray, Joe, Ed, and the guys can go in, do business, and come away with a sweep!

I say they are drinking the juice that is known as Media Hype. It seems this year they are the team getting the hype as a suprise team in the AFC. I don't think the Bengals can make the playoffs without the Steelers or us getting a losing record. I think they have a chance but I think the Texans would squeak them out and make it as the 6th seed. We'll see what happens...... I have read a couple of James Walker blogs showing what the fans were saying the previus year. That was the best part.... Looking at what the Browns fans were saying after a 10-6 season.... man did the Browns go back to reality or what. Who knows the Bengals may pull off a wildcard and possibly get 3 AFC North in the playoffs.....

Their D looks pretty solid, landing in the Top 10 isn't that much of a reach. But I doubt that they can get much done on the offensive side of the ball.

But they seem to think having a top ten D puts them in the super bowl..

Fans from other teams probably read our forums and think we're the delusional ones.

Fact is, nobody knows how the season is going to play out, so everyone should enjoy feeling happy and delusional and optimistic before the season starts and reality sets in.

I can't fault anyone for trying to believe in their team, especially if they are trying to be optimistic about a team that hasn't done well lately. I actually applaud these fans for sticking with their teams and being hopeful.

Of course, that doesn't translate to wanting their dreams to come true...

IMO a lot of the knowledgeable posters on this site are also the Raven's biggest critics. Optimism and reality have to come together SOMEWHERE but that's what happens when the Bengals start playing games lmao.

It doesn't matter WHAT they're drinking. Only important to know that they've been on the sauce since 2005. We should just leave them be, and let them sleep it off. :D

Its only delusional if it is against or rivaling the ravens in any way.... you know, if this were during the Salem witch trials.... well lets just say no more "optimistic" bengals fans.... good thing they didn't invent NFL rivalries back then huh

If you drank as much as a Bengal's fan, you would have a bunch of crazy stuff to say also. Have you ever tried to talk to someone who was way over his/her drinking limit? That is the samething as talking to a Bengal's fan, all you are going to get is a bunch of slurred speech. :o

Bengals fans are like the small guy at the bar who had a few too many and suddenly starts walking around with his chest puffed out and intentionally bumps into people twice his size, and on occasion he may catch some wimp off guard (browns) and then the two big mean bouncers (ravens and steelers) come over and pummel him

lol if it counts, I've been drunk to the point where I discovered that I had thumbs..... and useless piece of information, Juicy Juice is a hell of a fun to say while wasted

also reminds me of when I was in ROTC, and my teacher was a bengals fan.. and me being a ravens fan, We'd pretty much taunt each other... well one time he told me if I said anything about the bungals, that he'd make me do like 100 push-ups.... so we were going over some sort of a review or something, and he asks if anyone has any questions, I told one of my friends to say "How bout them Bengals sir"(of course he said it) ... he than looked around the room... next thing I know I am doing 100 push ups....

I frequent that blog too, also that zach or zack kid saying the steelers will got 13-3, the bengals (his team) 12-4, us 9-7, and the browns 6-10, they are deffinatly smoking or drinking something odd

Check out the Bengals.com website, answering the same question:

http://boards.bengals.com/showthread.php?t=47450

90% picked a winning season, 70% picked 10+.

I'm all for optimism - but delusional is another thing. Many pick them to the playoffs, with serious justification attempts included...

Just when I thought Bengal fans couldnt get anymore delusional, I saw this:

http://boards.bengals.com/showthread.php?t=49191
With a lot of ppl getting panicky about our current O-line and TE situation I decided to bring up the arguement that the Ravens are in more trouble than us...

First the TE's:

Ravens have:

Todd Heap: Coming off a disappointing year and has never proved to be very dependable as far as health goes

LJ Smith: Always been injury prone and has yet to go a full practice with hamstring problems and sports hernia complications

Davon Drew: Rookie 5th rnd pick who failed his Team Physical

Edgar Jones: He is a converted linebacker

Isacc Smolko: has been on 3 different team's practice squad

So its a close call but I'd have to take our platoon on this one being that Coats has been in the system and has only a sprained ankle, Utecht's injury shouldn't effect his pass catching and I think everyone would take Coffman over Drew.

The O-line:

I was smiling when I came across this nice tidbit:
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/r...,1610952.story

seems with Gaither(back\shoulder) and Grubbs(ankle) out, they are getting pushed around...

RT - Adam Terry is gone for the year and two of their other tackles have injuries leaving rookie M. Oher as their only healthy quality tackle practicing.... the rest are camp fodder with a combined 1 games played

G\T - Marshal Yanda is coming off a season-ending knee injury and a PUP candidate

Guards: David Hale (2nd yr player spent most of last year as the scout team center) and Robby Felix (undrafted FA)

Again it was close but i will have to go with my Bengals. Are line is healthy (knock on wood) and our line will have a slight expierence advantage. People say Cook hasn't played in a NFL game but he has 3 yrs in the system, so three of our starters will have 3 yrs in the system (I'm assuming Collins is the starter) and everyone will have 1 yr working in the system. The Ravens on the other hand will have 2 starters that are just learning the system and with the current injuries will have very very little time even playing together. That gives us an advantage since we play them early.

So Bengals Nation, what platoon would you rather have? and hopefully it makes you feel a little better
Now correct me if I am wrong but didnt we have 5 guys learning a new system last year and the same injury problems along our oline last year in training camp, they didnt even play together until week 1.

4 of our 5 guys have proven that they can play in the NFL, even pushed the Bengals around a little bit last year.

And in what world is some unknown TE better then Heap or L.J. Smith? How has Heap sooooo injury prone, he's ended the season injured the same amount of times as Carson Palmer, except Heap's been around longer.

^ I could have sworn Matt Birk was on our O-line... but I'm sure the Bengals fans know what they're talking about.

You know, it's not entirely their fault that their delusional. It seems all of football fandom thinks they're going to have a breakout year; they're just going with the flow.

I don't understand what you expect them to do. Sit around and say "Yeah our team isn't going to perform well. Go Steelers!"?

We'd have some pretty lackluster groups and I'm sure these forums were full of high expectations.

True football fans will root for their team through thick and thin, and always believe that they can succeed. I applaud their "delusional" behavior.

It's interesting how if you're critical of your team and decide to root for another instead, you're a no-good band-wagon fan; but if you believe in your team no matter what, you're a delusional nutjob.

edit: Oh but we are so going to kill them this year. Go Ravens.
