One thing I can say about Bennet over the other WR's we have with the exception of Clayton, Bennet is alow more proven than any of the other WR's we have!

I haven't heard his name for years...

I am so sick of this "he's no number 1" crap. What the hell is a #1 reciever? Depending on your definition the Ravens have NEVER had one, not even Mason. If the guy catchs the football, moves the chains, and we win, I frankly could care less whether he is a "#1 reciever" or not.
great post. All Bennett was signed for was insurance, just in case a guy like Dwill can't stay healthy in camp or Marcus Smith doesn't perform well in camp.

Like you said, if Bennett can move the chains, provide a good enough redzone target and most importantly catch the football then he is a plus. This WR will surprise some people this year and after they do, just like with the Oline, everyone will say i told you so.

I was a huge Titan's fan and Bennett was my favorite receiver. So im not mad i just hope he can stay healthy and produce.

:o Titans? What's your next team going to be: the Steelers?

I love the doubters! You ain't paying his contract, what's it to you if he's signed with a potential to upgrade our WR core? It doesn't make sense to me!! You wasn't at the tryout and even if you was, I have more belief in our coaching staff than a regular Joe fan.

No offence!

i like this signing
a 1 year deal for the veteran minimum
A recieving corps of Mason - Clayton - Williams - Bennett - Smith and Harper/Wheelwright/Figurs/Washington is a vastly improved group over last years wideouts.

When healthy Bennett will make plays for us. Great redzone guy that we need.
Solid signing IMO. Its not like we forked over 4 million dollars, we are only paying him 750,000 (only ;) )

What is a #1 WR any way? There were 4 top ten WR's in the playoof's L. Fitzgerald. S. Smith , Roddy White and R. Wayne. The stooler's did it with a top 15 H. Ward and #38 ranked S. Holmes. Is H. Ward what you call a true #1? (whatever the phrase a true #1 means) or is he a good WR that plays hard and makes catches when his team needs him to? The Raven's do not need to go out and spend a 1st and a 3rd round draft pick along with a 35-40 Million dollar contract. What we do need is competition during training camp in the WR position to see which WR wants to step his game up and be a playmaker!

Guys in bold that have done something. The rest of those guys haven't did anything regardless of what their situation was. People talk about Williams, Smith, Figurs, etc... but the truth of the matter is I feel more confident having Bennet in the line up than the WR's not in bold!

I couldn't agree more. I think too many times people get caught up in all the fantasy football and highlight shows. Since 2000 the only team that won the SuperBowl with a number #1 Wr was the Colts. Even the year Troy Brown was in the top 10 in the league for NE he wasn't considered a #1 WR.

I think that is overrated unless you are talking about somebody like Andre Johnson, but how has he impacted his team since being drafted? 8-8 has been the Texans best season. As it was said before, as long as the guys that line up for the Ravens can catch the ball, move the chains, and score when the opportunity presents itself then we'll be fine.

He really did not do a thing in St Louis! I am just not sold on this guy. He was just plain awful in the red-zone. Plus did show any real aggressiveness for the ball. Unless he has a big change. I don't see him adding anything to this team

I like this pick-up. We needed to add more height to our receiving corp and now he's the tallest WR besides Ernie Wheelwright. He's known to have a great locker room presence and even mentioned that he's excited to work with such a young offense. He excepts his role as a veteran and I think he will take a WR or two under his wing and help their development by teaching them how to improve their attributes and refine their craft.

I think I know why Ozzie leaned towards Bennett besides his good workout. In addition to his height and his physical nature, this receiver has had a history of shining where we struggle.

He averages 18.8 yards per catch against the Colts and 17.2 yards per catch against the Steelers. In 2004, he had two tremendous back to back games hauling in 3 TDs in each one, racking up 124 yards against the Colts and a whopping 233 yards against KC.

He's a seasoned veteran who's played against a lot of tough defenses in his carreer and shined. Remember our nasty Defense in 2006? That's when we got the name "Organized Chaos". Drew Bennett had 6 catches dor 115 yards against that very same defense. His downfall is that he hasn't had a good record of health, but if he can remain healthy, he should be able to step and help this team where we need it the most!

How much can you do with Torry Holt and Issac Bruce on the field?

What happens if Mason, Bennett and Clayton all play? I.e. whats the depth chart gonna look like?
First off I think we got the right guy if Mason leaves. He is a big target and a true redzone threat along with Heap and LJ Smith. He probably wont get over 700 yards but I think he will be our number 3 behind Williams and will show up in the Redzone. Flacco is gonna get these guys the ball don't worry.

Our offseason goal for next year is get Flacco a Bonafide young receiver but for now were good.

and to answer your question

1.Mason
2.Clayton
3.D-Will
4.Bennett
5.M. Smith

It would be sick if mason came back cause we could actually run some 5-wide

They pick him up for his size. He was going to the go to guy in the Redzone. Holt was getting on in years and small. Bruce was gone.He just never worked out. So the Rams offense was just plain bad and he added to it!

Lol, no way! Bennett at 4? Would be nice if Williams and Bennett can stay healthy.

I like this move (especially for the $)

Before he played for the busted Rams, he had 184 catches for about 2700 yards and 18 TD's in his last 3 years with the Titans.

Mason will come back, Clayton will pick up where he left off at the end of last year and Bennett will be the number 3 guy.....sorry D Will :)

Very strong!!!!

Mines always half full!

Any addition to the depth at receiver is good, hopefully this puts more pressure on Clayton and Williams to stay healthy/perform/continue to work hard etc.

IF he puts up a 1000 plus yards then sign him for couple more years shoot..
Yeah he's only 30, which leaves a good 4-5 years these days.
