Bennett Signs 1 Year Deal

you did because your topic was under mine, which means you posted earlier. Either way if only Mason would come back I would finally be satisfied with our receiving core.

We will see if he even makes the team. We can't keep signing bench warmers, we have 10 wide receivers. People are going to be cut and Drew isn't the answer.

It is a great move. A steady receiver just like stokely was but we managed to drop him as well. It seems we stock pile every defender available but guys like stokely, Moore and many more we seem to let them slip through our fingers to be productive against us.

Bennet started 58 games for the titans and gained 4427 yards in passing and rushing. Also returns punts pretty well to. Great pick up.

I'm sorry 11 Wide Outs now. We didn't answer our question at number 1. Drew is a number 4 at best.

Okay, not sure how many threads we're going to have about this, but as I stated in the other, He's no #1 but if D. Mason comes back, you guys will be in great shape.

Bennett won't compete for much. This is getting ridiculous, either we get a real Receiver or just go in with what we got. We don't need to add more junk to the line-up.

Oh my, we just wasted a roster spot. Does Ozzie honestly think this will help our receivers?

I am so sick of this "he's no number 1" crap. What the hell is a #1 reciever? Depending on your definition the Ravens have NEVER had one, not even Mason. If the guy catchs the football, moves the chains, and we win, I frankly could care less whether he is a "#1 reciever" or not.

I wish people would stop second guessing Ozzie Newsome. If you like fantasy football so much then go root for the team down the road!

Maybe you should start caring about the moves the Ravens make, a true fan would.

I'm fine with Drew Bennett. Despite his recent injury history, he's only 30 years old and he's only had three real seasons as a full-time starter (2004-2006 with the Titans).

Otherwise, there shouldn't be an issue with Bennett's durability, and his yards-per-catch average (14.8) over those three seasons is pretty damn good. Bennett might not be a flashy pick for a #1 WR, but if he beats out Clayton for the job and Mason doesn't come back, I have no issues with that. Who knows? If Mason does come back, there might be a reunion of former Titans receivers from 2004, here in Baltimore.

Do you think the Ravens signing Bennett is a ploy trying to get Mason to come back?

You of all people...respect your optimism. This move wasn't even news worthy. Of course we will make a big deal over it.

Y'know what? I really wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the reason. I mean, the team won't just sign a player just to get another one to come back, of course; that'd be a waste of money. But, this move works twofold: it gives Mason a bit of incentive to come back and try to recreate the magic of 2004 with one of his teammates, and it gives the Ravens a veteran body that could potentially still be productive. If Mason does come back, then even better.

You have to admit, a receiving corps of Mason, Clayton, Bennett, D. Williams, and M. Smith is much better than 2008 or 2007's receiving corps.

And as long as Flacco continues to do the little things to improve, there's no reason why this passing attack should be any worse than last season's (which wasn't even atrocious, to begin with).

Dude, do us a favor and shut up. If Bennett can't out play the other WR's on our team he will be cut. If he does outplay them then consider it an upgrade.

I'm not going to do you that favor. You are quick to disrespect.

We have 10 Receivers on the team, I would have rather neglect the position than sign a past prime player to compete against our young guys.

Man o man.... talk about thinking positive... Not only do I hope he makes the team, but I hope he starts EVERY SINGLE GAME and makes people eat their words - obviously that is the best possible scenario for all of us loyal Ravens fans. We got a decent player for what is probably a very good price so why is everyone hating? Ya we got 10-11 receivers but for those of us who know anything we know not all of them will make the team... so why not crack a beer enjoy the rest of your Friday and be happy that we atleast made a step towards reinforcing our WR corps.

Dude its TRAINING CAMP.

The Browns have 9 wr's on their roster right now.

The Bengals have 11.

Pittsburgh has 10.

Tennesse has 9.

Redskins have 9.

I'd keep naming teams but I think the point should be clear.

Realistic > Positive
Though Ignorance is bliss.

I hope Bennett gets #1, has 80 receptions, and 1200 receiving yards. I know it is always normal to have more positions on the team than can be signed. It is disappointing that we had more competitive options and went this route. The move has been made, just hope hindsight doesn't bite us but most likely it will unless we find better competition.

One thing I can say about Bennet over the other WR's we have with the exception of Clayton, Bennet is alow more proven than any of the other WR's we have!
