I dont like the steelers. OR THE FANS OF STEELERS.
So because Ben has been with better women.
Then he must have been shocked more by a less good looking woman.
How dare her not want to be with a steeler....
give me a break....
Im surprised hines ward didnt go blindside block her yet....

Any chance you can rewrite this so it makes sense? Thanks.

But there will be people that do hate him for it. And no matter what he does his reputation will never be the same. Kobe was innocent (or at least in the court of law he was) and people still said he was a rapist. Doesn't matter if he is innocent or guilty his reputation will be ruined, granted the levels of his reputation being ruined differs if he is guilty over innocent. People will still make statements to get under his skin and when your character is questioned, it will still get to him. Then the media will distract him.

I think he made a poor decision on who to hang around but if he is innocent, which until guilty he is, that women is a sick and pathetic human being. These situations are terrible but there is no doubt it will hurt him. It will hurt him mentally more than physically. And how hard football is you need all the mental toughness you can get. Which is kind of why I hope Mason stays retired.
I think another example most if not all ravens fans are familiar with is the Ray Lewis one, where he was found not guilty (aka innocent) of the murders... yet to this day, people still call him a murderer :/ (and they are idiots)

thats not true his worst statistical year was 2006
That is true. I was willing to overlook that year since he was injured and all, but why does he deserve a break?

Here's hoping he has another post- Super Bowl, after unpleasant offseason, dissapointing year. :)

As I heard it, this is not the first time she has pulled this stunt. As much as Dildoberger annoys me, he is more than likely innocent.

But you are fooling yourself if you say this won't affect him. Regardless of what the outcome of the case will be, it will be in his head until then. Ben has proved that adversity can be overcome, but some things will eat at you and affect performance. This is no different. Now the degree to which he will be affected....that can be argued. I say not much because, as many on this topic have stated, she is a gold-digging hooch. Plus he knows his innocence. Still, the civil case brings a whole different set of issues. He knows jail is not in the equation, but what if he feels that he must settle? How much money will he have to pay this tramp in said settlement? How much time out of the season will have to be dedicated to fight this? If the suit goes to trial, does she have some sort of evidence that's damning? Remember, in these types of cases the plaintiffs need not prove anything necessarily, just insinuate. The hit to the reputation alone is enough to make most people, companies or whatever balk.

I dunno Tighty. There are a lot of "ifs" in there.

As far as it affecting Ben, I understand what all of you are saying, but I believe Ben is operating under his faith in both his innocence (sp?) and the legal system. Many people don't believe her story and I think SHE will have more pressure on her than he will on him. We'll just have to agree to disagree. We'll find out soon enough.

Always with the negative...

This reminds me of an article entitled something to the effect of "List of reasons Why woman are crazy" that I read a while back:

Secondly, my point of view is positive for a Ravens fan. If a star player on a divisional rival team does badly for whatever reason, that is a good thing for one's team.

For the record though, Ben DID win the Super Bowl and I would definitely stand up for him even "if" he didn't. One has nothing to do with the other.

A couple of things to remember:

1) personal "squabbling" is not allowed.

2) fans of all teams are welcome to post in these forums as long as they abide by our Code of Conduct.

If these (deleted) attacks continue, this thread is going to disappear.

Just ignore all the immature morons that float around here.

They're the same guys petitioning to have Smith be the starter as well as trade for Moss, TO, Boldin, Fitz and C Johnson.

Then we'd be stacked and would never be beat.

Picture it now.....Smith scrambles, tosses a hitch to Moss on his tip toes on the sideline who then laterals to TO who runs to the star and laterals to Marshall who then tosses it to the corner for a Fitz jump ball.

Man, that's going to be awesome. And all this under cap. Ozzie, get it done!

Liking a player even when they lose... that would be the definition of "fan" wouldn't it?
You think you'll still stand up for him if something incriminating were to turn up?

"IF" he is guilty of raping a woman, I will think him nothing but trash and would hope that they lock him up and throw away the key. That would have to be decided in criminal court first of all, and I doubt it'll ever get there. My reasons? Because I think this broad is just trying to get money from him. I believe him to be innocent based on the information available right now.

we dont need any hand-outs! i wouldnt wanna play the Steelers this season if they're gonna be Benless. That way there will be no excuses for beating them or why they lost. It will make beating them more sweet! I think that if we sit around hoping and focussing on Ben Losing his mind or not playing to his potential, thats trying to take the easy way out. Thats the guy who swept us the entire 2008 season and stopped our superbowl dreams, thats who we should want playing his best football. If my fellow Raven fans wont agree,i know the Steeler fans will. Theres more important things to be concerned or nervous about. For example;Receivers!

Lol, of course Steeler fans want him playing his best next season.

We could say that the Ravens only lost because of the early bye, or because we had a reciever who had use of one arm, or because our starting linebacker had to tackle with one arm, or because the refs were unfair, the planets were not aligned, the wind was too strong, or any number of reasons but we don't. If Ben is affected by this, I for one won't accept that as an excuse.

but, but, but, I was one of the people who said we should go for Calvin Johnson... or are you talking about ocho cinco, but that was back before the draft, and that was for a few draft picks.. thought it was viable at the time w/ the lions being 0-16 had thought rebuilding year for them, rebuilding year = need of quantity and quality draft picks.... and well megatron would be nice on our team :P

Fisrt of all, I ALWAYS screw up which one to use (effect or affect). I think it's "affect" in this case.

Second, this issue distracting him cannot be assumed. Look at the 2007 Patriots. He has the support of his teammates, his city, fans across the globe and many major sports media (no not just ESPN).

My assumption is that he's innocent. With this in mind, he has nothing to fear.

Whilst I agree with everything you say, I think its more a case of 'I can' with some of these guys (where true) than 'I want' or 'I need.' These sports stars know they are powerful and that the law is applied differently to them. They get lighter sentences and can buy their ways out of situations.

I'm not at all saying Ben did this by the way - this is just regarding the issue of celebrity males and accusations of a sexual nature.

The thing with the judicial system is, ultimately, unless there is evidence beyond reasonable doubt, convictions cannot be made. That, combined with large financial means and great representation means that these cases will likely be not guilty, unless unequivocal evidence can be provided - and that is very rare.

While I think Ben is probably innocent, being rich and famous doesn't mean someone won't rape, no matter how many women are fighting to be with them. Rape isn't about 'getting laid', it's about power.
