So will this shake big Jen up like his scooter misshap in the '06 season?
[/quote]
I was reading something about this elsewhere and I think it depends on how long it drags out. If it does drag, I think it might be worse than the bike accident.

Athletes deal with physical pain throughout their careers and most of them learn to work through it. This could be emotionally draining [whether he is guilty or innocent] and could affect his playing if it drags on long enough. If it's over quickly and in his favor and the public mostly forgets about it [to the point where he's not hearing or reading about it], then the effects could be minimal.

Won't help him. If his mind isn't on football then it will only hurt him. And it will hurt the team as a distraction.

But Kobe wasn't affected during his situation. He still put up Kobe numbers. I bet Ben still does a very good job. But he won't put up any better numbers than last year. He won't improve. And just my opinion, if he keeps getting beat up like he has been, then he is going to have a short career.

Like I said on the other thread, the Woman is just trying to take some cash from him

Ben is not the type of person that would rape someone

Simply, No.

Denial isn't going to make all better. It will affect him. And one way or another it will show. It won't destroy him. It won't prevent him from being good. But it will affect (or is it effect, I don't care it's all the same, stupid english grammar) him

Fisrt of all, I ALWAYS screw up which one to use (effect or affect). I think it's "affect" in this case.

Second, this issue distracting him cannot be assumed. Look at the 2007 Patriots. He has the support of his teammates, his city, fans across the globe and many major sports media (no not just ESPN).

My assumption is that he's innocent. With this in mind, he has nothing to fear.

Have you met him? That is a bold statement. Im not saying he is guilty or innocent but you act like you hang out with him on the weekends.

McNair didn't seem like the type of person to have a mistress and we were all blown away when we found out...

I am always against the steelers but this is terrible. It seems like a pure ploy just to grab some quick cash otherwise she would have filed a case with the police. Even Ben does not deserve this. People just need to stop trying to get money the easy way and try earning it for a change. Stay tough Ben.

But there will be people that do hate him for it. And no matter what he does his reputation will never be the same. Kobe was innocent (or at least in the court of law he was) and people still said he was a rapist. Doesn't matter if he is innocent or guilty his reputation will be ruined, granted the levels of his reputation being ruined differs if he is guilty over innocent. People will still make statements to get under his skin and when your character is questioned, it will still get to him. Then the media will distract him.

I think he made a poor decision on who to hang around but if he is innocent, which until guilty he is, that women is a sick and pathetic human being. These situations are terrible but there is no doubt it will hurt him. It will hurt him mentally more than physically. And how hard football is you need all the mental toughness you can get. Which is kind of why I hope Mason stays retired.

Last year was his lowest statistical year, so I hope that you are right.

If Ben is innocent, I honestly feel sorry for him. But you have to wonder... maybe he should just try not to win any more Super Bowls, something bad always happens to him. XD

I obviously don't know what happened, but I'm more on the side that he's innocent, too. HOWEVER, being innocent doesn't mean that he won't be affected. This is a distraction, innocent or guilty. Whether or not he is distracted enough to make a difference depends on how long it lasts, how bad it gets, and his own personal ability to compartmentalize his emotional/personal life from his career.

So, while I can't definitively say he won't be distracted, you also cannot definitively say he won't.

It definitely CAN be a distraction. I'm just confident that it won't be.

You might be right. If however, this does stress him out, I think he should take a ride on his bike to relax himself.

I think the woman is trying to get money.
BUT,,,,
I do think Ben likes himself too much .
To have a woman say no must have been disapointing to him and gave her some crap.
but not enough to say rape or force himself on her.
i think Bens feelings are hurt more now than when she said no.
As far as him being stressed.
I sure hope so.
I really think he is gonna be banged up pretty good this year.
My guess..
He aint gonna finish the season....
i dont like the steelers at all!!!

Everyone in Pittsburgh probably thought Ben was not the type of person who would ride around on a crotch rocket without a helmet and crash into a car and nearly kill himself...

I dont like the steelers. OR THE FANS OF STEELERS.
So because Ben has been with better women.
Then he must have been shocked more by a less good looking woman.
How dare her not want to be with a steeler....
give me a break....
Im surprised hines ward didnt go blindside block her yet....

Gotta keep Big Ben away from the cheesesteak...does he have a glandular disorder...he looks horrid. How many acorns do you have stuffed in those cheeks Simon?

Sometimes alcohol, stardom and hormones can create disasterous situations....look at Roger Clemmons....who would have thought he would have a fling with an 18 year old...was she 18....maybe 17?

By the way, Miami of Ohio students for the most part have that UVA "entitled syndrome". They are kind of thee upper crust of the MAC.....much like UVA or UNC Chapel Hill. Spoiled, rich Midwestern kids whose dad's work at high flying corporate jobs in Cincy, Columbus, Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland. Nice cars...preppy clothes...free money...and lots of networking amongst Americas future Midwestern corporate leaders.

My brother in law went to school with him.....saw him at a few parties and said he drank heavy, had women draped on him, and was loud/obnoxious....plus possibly had a little bit of an identity crisis.....Think the movie the JERK

dont you remember the news?!?! before last season the stealers head physician was fired for administering HGH

i think this could potentially shake Ben up like when Jamal had to go to court for the scarface action he had goin on in college.... he sucked that year!

funny stuff a coupple posts above. I can see #86 spearing the prosicuter(sp?) in the chest during the cross examination

This issue hasn't been looked upon too unfavourably really, it seems dubious at best. Besides, its not a good look if one of the most famous players and QB of a storied franchise is involed in this.
