i read about that, yea he should get it, after that 75 yard return for a TD (his first NFL touchdow of his career) that one HUGE block on the defender was a key block for Figurs to break it loose, great job to Figurs earning the honor :) :)

Go Ravens!

i think Devard Darling threw that block that sprung Figurs, not 100% but im pretty sure it was him. It would make sense because Darling was the one who jumped up with Figurs into the crowd to congratulate him, leading to the excessive celebration penalty.

anywho, Figurs most definately deserves it. why is it year in and year out we always have a standout on special teams?it started with Jermaine Lewis, then we had Brightful and Sams and such, and now we have Figurs. freaking awesome man, I think Figurs could develop to be as dangerous as Devon Hester is....just think about that :D

Yamon "Yaboy" Figurs looks like a future star in the NFL.

I think he leads the league in KR and is second in PR

Not even close. Josh Cribbs leads the NFL in KR yardage and by a large margin. He has also had the 2nd most return attempts to his credit but Cribbs is a player that gets absolutely no recognition for his special teams and KR abilities. 13 KRs and an average of 35 yards a return.. simply amazing. Last year he averaged approx. 25 yards per return with about 70 KRs. The guy gets it done and while I don't pimp a lot of players on our team because overall we are a currently lacking team, Cribbs is a guy that I absolutely pimp as one of the best KRs in the NFL.

Figurs is however 3rd in PR yardage which is impressive and from what little bit I've seen of him he definitely has the explosiveness you need in the KR/PR area. Should be an interesting matchup Sunday with special teams.

You're right

Cribbs leads in yardage, but Figurs is 1st in average per return

(also, he 3rd in PR avg not 2nd like I said earlier)

I do respect Cribbs, he's on my Fantasy team that awards points for Ret. yardage. He's got me major points.

Oh yeah he's a beast in PRs. Not surprisingly, Cribbs hasn't had many opportunities to return punts. Imagine that? :P He did just convert to PRs this year with us releasing Dennis AKA Dropcutt, so we'll see what happens.

And I wasn't singling you out personally I just meant a lot of people don't even know the name Josh Cribbs unless they follow the AFC. It'd be nice for Cribbs to keep up his good work and have it acknowledged.

whatever the stats are lol All i know is that Figurs is shaping up to be one great special teams player for us and someone who can potentially be a game changer for us when the time comes for it....he's shaping up to be a REAL play maker for us, i feel like he will be a HUGE contributor to our schemes and scoring points on special teams...the Guy has REALLY showed us his potential and his speed and athletic ability and how dangerous he can be when the ball is in his hands, we can only expect nothing but GREAT things to come for the up and coming Raven Rookie aka the Speedster

Cirbbs is nice, I'll not deny that, but considering Figurs is a rookie and has the stats he does so far (even his performance in preseason was pretty freaking nice) I just see so much more comin from that kid and I'm really excited for this next game lol

Figurs is the kind of kid that just seeps with the amount of potential he can bring to the Ravens not only on Special teams (he's already proven his value at that hehe :) :) ) but also as a Wide Reciever option....he was a deep threat in College and i can only guess to what we'll have him do in the years to come :) the future looks bright and Promising for this Young and uprising NFL star!

Interesting debate but I'll stick with Cribbs. 1,094 return yards (14 games started) in '05, 1,494 return yards (16 games started) in '06 and so far, 455 this year in 3 games. Same age as Figurs with 2 years experience under his belt and lightning quick speed. I would like to see Cleveland get him more into the offense but maybe that will come with time.

I can imagine our Sunday matchup may be filled with some sick special teams plays.

it will be interesting because usually our special teams (not just on the returning side) unit is pretty freaking nice. I can't say I can vouch for the return coverage unit of the Browns but if they're anything like Arizona (which, admittedly, is a pretty crappy coverage unit) then Figurs might just have another huge day.

I'm pretty sure Yamon is the best rookie returner this year. 4 attempts 153 yards, 38.3 average. On punts he has 5 for 95 and a

td. Keep in mind hes a rookie, whos still trying to make the game slow down.

Oh and why does everybody say hes the next devon hester? Hes the next Yamon figurs, because he is who he is. And hes faster than devon btw.

i dont mean hes the next Hester, only that he could be just as explosive if he continues to develop quickly as he has

i think we were reffering to his ability to break away and make a game changing play...Like hester, not saying he IS hester because he's not, he's Yamon Figurs....with his lightening speed and athletic ability....people are just saying that he's like hester Because of his ability and quickness and elusiveness....there can only be One Hester and he's on the Bears BUT there also cant be 2 Yamon Figurs either, and with time i see Figurs becoming even better than hester because of his Style, Speed, Athletic Ability, elusivness and so and so forth
