How Big Ben Case Proves Espn Is Pro-Steelers

14 posts in this topic

I know we already have a thread on BigBen case, but this one is a little different. Its been reported that ESPN has never mentioned this case against Ben ONCE. There excuse is because no criminal case has been filed, only a civil lawsuite. Well, as the article states, ESPN covered packman jones, Roberto Alimar, an other people who only been charged with civil suite. It's crazy how ESPN will do anything to make the Steelers look like saints. God, I remember hearing about Packman nonstop.

Well they do wear the same colors...

It doesn't really matter. Everyone is going to hear about this through other avenues, and if Espn wants to be the only ones lagging behind, then so be it.

You're right. If ESPN wants to risk even more credibility by being late on reporting the story, that's not responsible journalism in this case, that's just being stupid regardless of whether any charges are actually filed. It's as if ESPN is denying that the story ever happened by not reporting on it.

ESPN disgusts me. They were the first ones to throw Ray under the bus. They insulted the memory of Steve McNair by reporting that his BAC was twice the legal limit. Um, I didn't know there was a legal limit when you are sitting on the couch in your condo watching television.

They are so pro steelers. They barely touched Santonio HOlmes with both the marijuana case and the domestic disputes.

They should change their name to Enjoy Steeler Praising Network....yeah its cheesey :P

Breaking News: ESPN finally breaks the news.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4349253

They chose such a good title. It really explains the situation. >.>
"Authorities won't look at Roethlisberger"

Law enforcement officials in Nevada have no intention of opening a criminal investigation into allegations Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger raped a woman at a Lake Tahoe hotel-casino a year ago, the sheriff's department said Wednesday.
Their finishing statement is almost as good as the title.
Roethlisberger has twice led the Steelers to Super Bowl victories in his five-year career and is one of the biggest names in sports.
I think they meant 'longest'.

I hate ESPN. They would rather show a replay of the 2006 rock paper scissors championship than a major league baseball game or something at least legit. That being said, I hope for the woman's sake that this isn't true, from what I've head this woman is pretty crazy though so who knows. On the other hand, if this turns out to be true the SURELY Goodell would be forced to hand down some form of punishment?

If ESPN wants to risk even more credibility

I think they already have done that. I been listening to the Fan this week and they got to talking about how ESPN wasn't covering this story at all. They brought up some good points. Yes they have covered cases before, I mean they would gladly talk about Mike Vick and Pacman Jones. Yet they don't mention this story once. Here is the thing that really hurts ESPN, they are willing to send cameras and reporters out to Hattiesburg, MS to tell us that Brett Favre is eating dinner with his family, and film him throwing to high school kids. Yet no story on Ben.

I think they finally did report on it because they probably got alot of complaints about how they were showing favoritism toward the Steelers and someone decided, even though we don't want to, let's report on the story but let's make sure the Steelers are seen in a positive light. I think ESPN is going to lose alot of creditbility over this and I feel sorry for Adam Schefter who just went to ESPN because I'm sure Schefter might have had some good info sent to his blackberry about this and wanted to share the info and couldn't when NFL Network would have gladly let him share any in sight on this case.

While I can agree with you that they are pro Steelers, I dont think they are pro-Ben. They proved that when Ben didn't win MVP in that super bowl. He drove down the field and made a difficult throw to win the game. If that was Brady or Manning they would have won MVP.

rofl.... now that you mention it, they had Hines Ward on PTI before our AFC Champ. game, and he said that if they lost, that he would start a fight.... if it was someone on our team.... it would have been made into this huge ordeal... or hell, when the whole "bounty" talk happened, we heard about that for months

... almost makes you wonder if they are run by Fox lol
oh yeah, and I love how it was their defense that led them... and I swore the QB played on offense

god, if I had to sit through another month of brett favre talk, I seriously would have banged my head into a wall for a few hours.

I wish we could find a sports news feed that doesn't have a favorite team... in fact speaking of ESPN the only show on there that I like is First Take

I never knew ESPN had any credibility to lose

About Adam Schefter, makes me wonder if they just got him, so they could control what we hear in the news

I think there would have been an outrage if they gave LJW (Little Jen Worthlessbugger) MVP, he sucked up until the end of that game...
and honestly I thought Troy should have gotten it... but somehow their W.R. are "SB MVP's"

Ben didn't suck in that game. Polamalu was never the same after something happened to his eye. He wiffed on at least one tackle and then tackled his own guy near the goal line. Santo was a good choice for MVP. If anyone else should have gotten it, it should have been Harrison.

meh, I can agree with Harrison I guess

but I really think they should change the requirements of the superbowl MVP to use the player that most impacted their team for the superbowl run, AND how well they do in the big game...
