  1. We will likely find 2 starters in the first 2 rounds. So what is everyone's favorite possible 1-2 round punch to help get this team back to winning? I personally want Spence and darian thompson. Spence is my top edge rusher and I think that's the 2nd biggest hole on the team, and after some more studying I have a top 20 grade on Thompson but he is still projected in the 2nd and fills a huge void and I think He goes a long way in fixing the secondary. I've also grown on myles Jack and like the idea of him and Thompson, gives us a lot of big play ability in coverage and immediately turns our defense from sluggish to one of the faster ones in the league. We also could become one of the smartest defenses in the league as they both have some brilliant instincts and play recognition. Ps. If this seems like a waste of space kind of thread I apologize, I get bored working overnight lol
  2. I told people Darian Thompson lacked athleticism. His 3C drill was not very good. Joey Bosa, a DL/OLB with significantly more weight, posted a way better 3 cone drill than Thompson, a safety. Darian Thompson is a true gambler, and I do like him, but he does not have the range to play FS in single-high. He was responsible for quite a few deep completions this year due to making a bad gamble.
  3. Thompson finds himself out of position as well. He freelances also but the difference there is that Thompson is a bit smarter with it but lacks the ridiculous athleticism that Ramsey has, which makes every guess that much riskier. I personally don't think we can go wrong with either one. Bare minimum for both I think is a pro bowl SS. I think Thompson is very underrated as a ballhawk even if he lacks top shelf athleticism
  4. Fuller and Apple have also faced better competition as well and while aggressive has good technique, while I've seen Thompson not consistently display the best technique, and just doesn't play with good man technique while I've seen Fuller and Apple do it. Apple's also played really well against Amari Cooper in the first playoffs. The difference between these prospects isn't much, but if I'm deciding between Fuller, Apple, and Thompson, I'm going with the CBs before the safety in this instance. Nobody is saying Thompson sucks, but he may well be a better SS in the league, if that even matters. I also think he'll go a bit later than expected, but safeties are the toughest position to predict because their value is often strange. Sometimes they go on an early run and other times they fall.
  5. I mean no disrespect but Thompson has made plenty of mistakes back in coverage. While he has shown ball skills, he's also shown lack of awareness in man coverage and he's blown assignments and let guys get downfield and get open. I like him a lot but he's hardly a perfect safety like some appear to believe. So I don't think he's better than Fuller just because Thompson has generated some hype atm. I still like both, but I need to see how Thompson tests at the combine with his 3 cone because his gambles haven't always panned out and I frankly want to see if he's got the athleticism to compensate for these gambles. I'm not sure he does, although the combine may change my mind.
  6. Allow me to participate. I think Apple will be gone before us, whether it's Dallas, SD, Jax, Tenesse, Cleveland, almost every team before us would want him. Also, if I had to choose between Thompson and Fuller, I'd take Thompson all day everyday, mostly because I don't like Fuller. And while I understand the fact that you like other safeties, we've wasted many picks on safeties that didn't pan out, so I'd take the most NFL ready, the one with the fewest chances to fail, and the one that looks like a future Pro-Bowler, namely Thompson. I view him as a "no-risk" pick, really.
  7. The reach part is very true, I just felt that Treadwell and Thompson are just what we need in both offense and defense, and I don't see us getting them one round later. Thompson has been mocked as a first rounder in some mocks, and as I said, I think Tread is the one who brings us the most in the 1st round. Plus, Thompson raised his stock in the Senior Bowl. Both, to me, are safe picks with immediate impact. Btw I assume Ramsey will be gone by then, but if he is there, to me it's a no-brainer. In that case, Boyd or Scooby Wright III in the second are my guys, maybe Spence but imo he won't last until the second. Also now that I think about it, Schobert in the beginning of the 3rd is definitely a reach. Let's put him in the early 4th and take an OT in the 3rd instead
  8. I definitely tried to make a realistic(who knows for sure) mock. Would I prefer Spence in the 2nd? Definitely but I see Darian Thompson as Landon Collins with better ball skills. I really think Darian Thompson has the look of a pro bowl player. Then again, I had similar feelings watching Arthur Brown in college. As for Beavers, if he is viewed as a legit LT, he may not make it to the third. That pick is largely a ghost based on one game, some things I have read and perhaps wishful thinking. Schobert is the kind of pick that has people proclaiming the genius of Belichik. I get that you like him inside but even if that were the case, he would be a straight steal in the fourth. I find I have a hard time comparing him to anyone. i think we will do "better". Trying to avoid a Myles Jack, Kevin Dodd.....etc., sort of mock. oh, have you watched Grant?
  9. I don't understand how you guys can say Thompson has a good value in the 2nd round. We're talking the top 5 pick in the 2nd round. If some team reaches a bit for needs instead of BPA, that means the Ravens get a 1st round talent in the 2nd round. Thompson isn't a 1st round talent. He's not even a 2nd round talent in my eyes. He's not football fast enough imo (maybe he was a bit hesitant and looks like he's a film study junky so that might help him a lot guessing plays instead of reacting - which he isnt so good)
  10. My favorite combo is still Jack and Thompson I know Thompson had a rough combine but I still think he is going to be a good starter in this league.
  11. I think him and Thompson could be comparable as a FS, but Thompson is larger with better ball skills by quite a bit and he is proven there so I'd favor him. I dont dislike fuller per se, I'm just not a big fan and I think he's a bit overrated.
  12. I like both Schobert and Thompson but I don't like the value. I understand you like Thompson and he's gotten hype but taking him over Kendall Fuller, Eli Apple, or Tyler Boyd seems very questionable to me in this scenario. Some of your first round picks are a bit too "really" as well, and while your rationale makes sense on some, I can't but all of it. For instance, I can't see the Rams taking Billings even if he's a beast.
  13. I think Buckner at three(even given the fact that he's your guy) might be a bit of wishful thinking in hopes that someone falls to us. It's plausible in that he fits them I suppose. Darian Thompson falling to us in round two is unlikely. I personally like him more than Ramsey and would love him to see the Ravens work a trade to get him. Taking Jack at six is a steal as strange as that sounds. The combination of your first two picks would be great though I wonder if Ozzie would take Spence instead.(over Jack). Last year they were reportedly salivating over Dupree and Shane Ray and Spence is a much, much better prospect. I need to watch your round three pick...seems to be popping up a lot. I haven't watched Marz but keep hearing/reading about how terrible he looked at senior bowl practices in one on ones. Cyrus jones stock will rise and I don't see him making it out of the fourth. id be ecstatic if the steelers took a guard over Conklin or Thompson but doubt it. Keep them coming. Really enjoyed this mock.
  14. Then we agree on both points. As for Thompson, I don't think athleticism is that big of a problem when you're a safety and you have his vision and intelligence. Weddle doesn't have superb athleticism if you ask me, and yet is a top5, maybe top3 at his position. Thompson is the center fielder type, always ready to jump routes and excellent when it comes to predicting the play. I'm just starting to see him mocked as a first rounder, and believing he'll be gone before we can even consider taking him. As for Jackson and Fuller, every tape I watched of Fuller he got burnt. I'm higher on Jackson as well.
  15. Call me crazy but id rather try to grab Kevin Byard in the 4th or 5th than Darian Thompson in the 2nd, Byard looks the part of a deep roaming safety and ball hawk, similar to Thompson, he's not a great athlete but makes up for it with his instincts and recognition. He could be a real sleeper and with him not being invited to the combine that might actually help us if we want him in the later rounds.
  16. I like that combo however if we draft Thompson I think Webb would move back to CB because if Thompson is at FS there is no need for Webb at FS
  17. Agreed, Ozzie will go BPA in the two first rounds, so if there's a faller for us in the 2nd he won't hesitate. However I think Thompson is fully worth an early 2nd round pick. Thompson is not known for being blazing fast, so I don't see it happening, fortunately.
  18. I'd be ecstatic if we got Spence in the 1st and Thompson in the 2nd! I think thompsons stock will rise some as we get closer to the draft. If by some chance Thompson ran a 4.47 range 40 he might slip into the late 1st round. Especially if the 1st safety Ramsey is gone in the in the top 3 of the 1st round.
  19. I like Thompson but i I kinda see him as a mid 2nd round guy, it's kinda funny this is the first time in years we get a high draft pick and everyone is enamored with mid round guys like Alexander in the first and Thompson in the second. I think it's more likely we'll be grabbing a higher rated guy who falls out of the first round.
  20. based solely on game film I'd say Thompson is a better prospect than Ramsey. I realize I'm way in the minority on that and that Ramsey perhaps offers more versatility, I just don't think his game tape measures up on the whole and Thompson would be a steal to me in the second round.
  21. So you finally caught up on the Thompson bandwagon . My mind is changing twice a week, but as of now I had Hargreaves and Spriggs. Not flashy but this would solidify us on important areas. The Jack-Thompson combo is probably my pick is you ask me to give you "game changers"
  22. This isn't a rumor but I can imagine us being very high on Darian Thompson. He just seems like a classic Ozzie curve-ball. Last year after saying we were not picking a WR, we go out in pick one in the 1st round. In 2014, a season after trading up in the 2013 Draft of the 2nd round for ILB, Arthur Brown, we draft another ILB named C.J Mosley in the 1st round of the 2014. A lot of people assume that because Webb is making the switch to FS, that we won't simply draft one, I wouldn't be surprised if Thompson is our guy in the 2nd round at all, he can be amazing in the next level.
  23. First post on this forum, so I guessed I should make a mock so you guys could learn to know me and what I think. Btw I'm french, supposedly good in english but don't hesitate if you feel the need to correct me! So here goes: 1) Laquon Treadwell, WR To be honest, there isn't any prospect in the first round that I absolutly want more than any other. My favourite is Buckner, but I trust our coaching staff to developp Davis, Guy and Urban. And the idea of providing Flacco its first real WR1 excites me. Plus it's a matchup made in heaven for a Trestman offense. He's a safe pick, a reliable target and would make our recieving corps scary. Just remembering that 5 months ago we were supposed to have the weakest WR corpse in the league, and it's kinda funny... 2) Darian Thompson, FS For all the talk about how bad the secondary was, it was just one good FS away from being really good, especially at the end of the season. I think Lewis and Webb will be cut, and Brooks being injury prone, bringing Thompson makes sense. He's the very definition of ballhawk, has an insane football IQ, is NFL ready and imo a future star at the position. He just has it all, and is widely considered the best FS in this draft (to me he's on par with Ramsey as a pure FS). 3) Joe Schobert, OLB Physically, he's basically Doom 2.0, but his ability to drop into coverage is really interesting for us, and he's one of my favorites at the position. Fast, smart, and hustling on every single second of every single play. Just watch the Iowa match, it's incredible how much hustle this guy displays. The fact that he will learn with Doom is also perfect for him, and for us. 4) Joe Dahl, OT Needed help in the OL, I'm a horrible judge for that kind of position so I'll trust the common thought on him, if he can be a fit with Castillo I'm all in. 4) Tyler Matakevich, ILB It is time we find a replacement for Daryl. As they said for Borland: "He's too small. He's too slow. I don't care, he can play football.". This describes Matakevich quite well. He doesn't have the physical tools, but an insane work ethic, a study rat, and a contagious agressivity. He can be a great compliment for CJ. 4) Cyrus Jones, CB A Bama guy, that can play CB and PR, has a chip on his shoulder... Have fun taking him Ozzie. I'll stop here, not much sense going futher... Tell me what you think!
  24. That's true at the moment..but obviously a lot of these guys may rise up the board if they perform well at the combine..the flip side is they could drop farther too..but expect some fluctuation. very good mock..a lot of the ones I've seen just seem kind of unrealistic but I don't get that feeling with this one...seems well within possibilities. I don't think Webb will be cut..but if Thompson does well enough we can keep Webb where he belongs..however I think moving Webb to safety may be a wise move..and we still have Elam waiting in the wings who looked to have made huge strides last offseason before he went down..therefore I would probably rather take a corner such as fuller or Apple. Esp in round two. However I do really like Thompson. Welcome to the board though, nice to have you.
  25. I'll take Eli Apple over fuller, but yeah i'd be ecstatic with some combo of that. Ramsey and Spence and then thompson would be nice too, let Ramsey play cb as a rookie and let thompson get snaps at FS (i think he's a future starter) and then move Ramsey to SS in the future, and hopefully one of will David or shareece Wright or tray walker allow us to comforttably move Ramsey from cb in that scenario. I think we have a chance to bring our defense from trash to future top 10 in one draft here If Fuller can show he has no issue during combine with the scouts @ evaluation session, his stock could go far and away higher than Eli. Talent wise I don't think Eli is even close to Kendal Fuller.
