  1. Why is Jalen Tabor not being looked at with our draft pick? Here's what Profootballfocus has to say about him. "The depth at cornerback bodes well for the Jets as they may dip into the pool multiple times, but they start with Tabor who has the size and playmaking ability that head coach Todd Bowles needs for his system. He’s had either an interception or a pass breakup on 26.5 percent of his targets, well above the national average, and he’s capable of playing tight man coverage or breaking on the ball quickly in “off” coverage. Tabor’s aggressive style can get him into trouble at times, but he may be the best playmaker in the loaded cornerback class." I don't really know much about him, but I still don't understand the dislike of him.

I got that report of PFF's mock draft, here's the link if anyones interested. https://www.profootballfocus.com/draft-college-football-trubisky-bears-pff-2017-mock-draft/

My thought with that set up was that Jones and Wilson were gone along with the other pass rushers ahead of him... If we were to draft Foster what would you do with him seeing as Mosley and Orr hardly ever come off the field?

I could see Foster rotating behind both Orr and Mosley early in the game to keep both of them fresh for the 4th quarter. Also does anyone have any updates on Mosley's injury that he suffered against the Bengals?

To be fair, the Jets d-line was getting in the backfield before West had a chance to do anything.

Yeah that game was an offensive failure all around. Even worse, was blaming Timmy Jernigan for fumbling the ball he recovered and tried to make a play with.

Probably not as much as people think, given we don't have Frederick, Martin or Smith.

Terrence West/Dixon did alright behind this offensive line, I think Zeke would have helped us win a few games where our run game was nonexistent. Like the Jets game.

Alabama's ArDarius Stewart has declared for 2017 draft. RS sophomore only but since he is a father of two and apparently got a 2nd round grade, he wanted to do it while he is 100% healthy and not risk injury.

Pretty useful guy. He can get open and makes lot of YAC. Good hands and is tough guy, will fight for the ball. Can return kicks and blocks well, too. If he played in a different system, I think there would be lot more talk about him.

Stewart reminds me of a young Steve Smith with not only his aggressiveness while blocking but also his decent speed and ability to catch everything thrown his way.

  6. Two names that I haven't seen mentioned but would help the Ravens immensely are Malachi Dupre from LSU and Isaiah Ford from Virginia Tech. Dupre is a big bodied receiver 6'3 190 who could help with Joe out when Joe throws a jump ball, while Ford is 6'2 187 and a little bit faster who could be our new slot receiver.

Don't believe the hype, believe your eyes instead. Sidney Jones is far superior. Especially to tabor who is a massive bust. He has a serious holding problem, he is undisciplined, and honestly looks stiff. Damn the size, the coverage skills are seriously subpar. I saw one game tape from him where he had 4 blatant holds go uncalled, 1 more get called, and was burned despite his holding twice, and he got beat deep multiple times. Tabor is a bust man.

Tabor sounds like the next Richard Sherman to me

This quote after the game is classic

“We got to address some issues,” outside linebacker Terrell Suggsicon-article-link.gif said. “We got to be honest with ourselves and we got to address those issues if we want a chance at success, if we don’t want to be on the outside looking in.”

Start by announcing your own retirement, No place for old, slow, one arm pass rushers in this league.

If we are able to draft a good OLB this year then we he can become a good 3rd-down pass rusher for us.

The issue with Burficht was not only the personal fouls (lots of unnecessary roughness), but also a ton of on field antics where it seemed like he felt he was bigger than the team or the game. He also gained a lot of weight in his junior year and seemed to get lazy, had friction with his coaches, and bombed the combine (testing and interviews). He was pretty much the perfect storm of issues.

I remember him and his coaches at ASU not getting along, but I still think we should have gotten him instead of Tommy Streeter in the 6th round of that year. But hindsight is always easier than foresight. I just hope we don't make the same mistake again and let a player pass us because of character concerns.

Before being drafted I don't recall Suggs having any big red flags, I think he was just really immature - as that scouting profile indicates. He's still pretty darn immature but I believe his combine is what dropped him to our lap. I believe if the same thing happened today we'd still take a player like him. I don't think there was anything too damning about him.

Oh I didn't know that. My mistake. The point I was trying to make is we let great players go by us because we are worried about their character. An excellent example would be of Burfict. He had absolutely no off-field incidents while his biggest red flags were too many personal fouls and a terrible interview at the combine. If we could have gotten him in the 6-7th round that year we would have an elite MLB for our team and I doubt he would act up because we have a strong locker room.

unless connor cook is better in the pros than he was in college, then it looks like were sitting at 16th.

i like tim williams, but im really hoping he LIGHTS IT UP at the combine, makes teams ignore his character concerns, and hopefully pushes derek barnett to 16th. if williams falls to 16th id be happy with that as well.

the question is though... would we take him?

If our recent drafts are any indications, probably not. Apparently having "character concerns" is now a red flag for baltimore. Good thing Suggs was before John's time or else we would have never drafted him.

Oh for sure.  I think he can set the edge - just that problems will be present on occasion.  He's a pass rusher through and through and I wouldn't even consider trying to change that.

Yeah hopefully if we get him we don't have a Paul Kruger type of mistake of trying to get him heavier than he should have been. Whatever happened to Za'darious (?) Smith? I remember him getting a few sacks last year and looking like a future impact player.

I believe that was definitely last year's number.   ESPN has him at 252 now which would be that 15 (actually, 16) pound gain before the season.  I have no problems at all with the skinny frame.  It's just going to be something that works against him on occasion.  I'll take the positive he provides over the occasional negative every single day though.

I'm not too worried about him setting the edge in the run game, we still have Orr and Moseley who would help. I'd definitely prefer him be an elite pass rusher like Dumervil in his prime more so than say a Ryan Kerrigan who is an ok pass rusher but a great run defender.

He's bigger than that now.  I think they said he put on 15 pounds before the 2016 season.  Regardless, he's still got a skinny frame and will get swallowed up on occasion.  That frame is part of what makes him such a good and explosive rusher though, so you take the good with the bad in that regard.  He's definitely much bigger than he was last year.

I was just going of what Google said. There have been many OLBs that have been drafted with skinny frames and have turned out solid. Chandler Jones and Barkievious(?) Mingo have turned out to be ok. But I'd try to have him gain 10-15 pounds and keep his explosiveness.

I think he's shown that he can set the edge, which is good.  It's inconsistent, but better to have some than none.  There have to be legitimate concerns about his size on the edge at the NFL level, but you're mainly drafting him for his pass rush anyways.

Tim Williams is 6'3 236, if he can add about 15-20 pounds of muscle then he would be the right size and weight for us.

I'll be completely honest in saying that I'm not one to really watch too many games outside of the ACC (I'm a Hokie alum), so I wouldn't have even known to watch his name in the Belk Bowl. BUT, I think Wagner is back and at that point, you have Lewis as a potential swing tackle and Yanda can also kick outside when needed. I don't think adding a T will be a priority in this draft.

Yeah with the way Stanley and Wagner played, its not a real priority but I say if he's there in the 6-7th rounds take a flyer on him and hope he can become a quality depth player. Besides, he can't be any worse than Jah Reid was for us.

Not that it means a ton, but I've seen a few scouts and different mock sites that have him as their top guy.

The only two tackles I've heard anything about is Ramczyk (or however it's spelled) and Robinson. Both are viewed as first rounders. After that? Haven't heard a peep.

What would you think about drafting Dan Skipper from Arkansas? He's 6'9 and has a mean streak to him.

we didnt lose spence because we thought he would slip, we didnt want him. everyone and their mother knew spence had zero chance of falling past tampa.

I didn't know we didn't want him. I know just about every "expert" said we should get him because he can play both 4-3 and 3-4 defenses, and having Suggs and Dumervil train him would help him immensely.

i said before the season started that this looked like the  best alabama defense yet and a lot of players look like future pros. iim starting to think that we could really be in range to grab tim williams, and im watching film here trying to find a reason to not want him there(talking myself out of realistic prospects, lol) but im just finding more and more things to like.

really williams just looks like a natural, he reacts so quickly and so often makes the smart decisions, i see him doing stuff like breaking inside hard into the pocket because the qb begins to roll out to the opposite side, but its impressive because he makes that decision at the same time as the qb so he never loses a step, and he does it so lightning fast that he always executes it as well.

funny because ive seen this as well, but in the post above im stating that i see the exact opposite. maybe he just needs to be taught to play disciplined at all times rather than try too hard to make a play? because the past 2 tapes ive watched on him he is consistently making smart decisions and using the inside lanes and staying home against the run, but in previous film he was over extending.

If we could get either Williams or Foster and try to snag Eddie Jackson, then I'd say we had a great draft.

I'd love to walk out with a combo of Sydney Jones-Lawson-Nelson

If we can get just one of those players that'd be great.

That would be insane...even better if Tim Williams slips due to the character concerns and we get those guys whoa

I think we should get Williams with our 1st rounder, and not try and let him slip. We lost out on both Noah Spence and Kevin Dodd because we kept thinking they would slip to us and instead we draft KC

I don't know that you'll snag them with the original third, but someone like Pocic or Nelson might slip a bit and be a trade up target.

I'm figuring they will go around late 2nd early 3rd, so if either of those two are within reasonable trade-up distance, then by all means we need to get them.

something i noticed about tim williams on his auburn film is that he actually plays pretty disciplined. he is by no means an edge setter but he still knows when to anchor down and stay home. multiple times he anticipated the outside run to his side and he leveraged the tackle wide to turn the run back in, also he anticipated runs to the opposite side, pre-snap, and avoided traffic and dropped back and began crossing the field, he didnt even consider trying to chase it down from behind.

for someone who is considered raw and wont bring much against the run, id say that shows some competence.

I live in SEC country so unfortunately I have to watch a lot of Alabama games, and this year there are a ton of players on that defense that could really help us out.

I just meant the tackle class is pretty good. I think those two will push the interior guys down the board a bit.

Oh ok, I misunderstood what you meant, my mistake. Yeah hopefully we can snag them in the 3rd-4th round because we all know how Ozzie hates trading up to get quality players.
