  1. im going to be looking out to see how jimmy smith does in the first couple of drives and how zach orr is getting on then further into the game im looking out to see if willie henry and matt judon flash again and see if chris moore can get into the game
  2. Two words: Matt Elam or at least I think it all related to him
  3. To be fair, he's not given an option to play through because he keeps getting pulled - you think camp, knowing that injuries are a hindrance to him getting on the roster would let a niggle keep him out?
  4. I don't think tavon Austin was a bust - he's still a multi-threat player - he's just utilised incorrectly and is a little underappreciated
  5. But he did look good as a starter - remember he didn't take over from Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington until later in the season and being a workhorse in modern nfl is about staying on the field which means being effective out of the backfield and in pass protection so that you don't have to come off the field which he very much did for the cards
  6. With regards to Elam and brown, I always look at the overall quality of that draft as a whole which was terrible and I'm thankful that Ozzie whiffed on a year where the herbal quality was poor rather than a good crop
  7. I think it's obvious though that he has the skill set to do it
  8. Wait who's the 4th? Wallace, Moore, perriman... Am I being an idiot lol? Who am I missing?
  9. On that subject there are very few one back true workhorses in the league at the moment anyway: Adrian Peterson, David Johnson, Todd gurley, leveon bell, demarco Murray (if he's healthy) and maybe Thomas rawls(likewise) and Doug Martin
  10. The thing is though, that the preseason 1 game film he's just put on is against 2nd and 3rd stringers who won't ever sniff real football, so in all reality the last meaningful game tape he has is from the playoff run where he and rashaad melvin got roasted continuously and he lost his regular season starting job because of tackling issues if Elam earns his way onto the roster then fine but there's no way we get rid of Lewis just so that we make space for him to grow into
  11. i think a lot of people have vastly overrated elam's rookie season just because of how bad huff was... he was still negatively graded for the whole season and we are pointing to that season as a sign of hope... id love it if he could take the step but he hasnt shown any reason he would
  12. i dont know about returning but he's certainly the best at punt catching
  13. i dont want to jinx it but it finally looks like we wont have the all-injured team of the nfl
  14. to be specific they said you wouldnt know he was injured 'if he wasn't wearing a boot' which is the difference here
  15. what from anything you've heard anywhere makes you think that he isnt 100% committed to football he himself has said that as soon as training camp roles around he hangs up his math until "hopefully february" and do you remember what he wrote in the wake of chris borland's early retirement? he said he knew he shouldnt play football but he loved it too much - that doesnt sound like a guy who's more focussed on studies than football
  16. not that i dont want this to be the case but how can you say that after about 8 snaps in one preseason game against 3rd stringers?
  17. it may have to begin with, but look at the other players on the field when levine nearly made the int - it looked like he played dime throughout last night from the starters to the 3s so i think it's not that useful to just take into account the one report that he was practicing with arthur brown earlier in camp when that doesnt look like the case anymore
  18. i remember seeing some nice flashes from lt where he finished off plays his rookie year - not so much last year though it feels like every year we bring in a new rb and the media goes crazy that they are gonna be the next superstar workhorse and then they kind of drift into the ether lt, then buck and now kd each pushing the one before into obscurity
  19. except we didnt know breshad would be out for the whole season at that point
  20. Doesn't it always seem that way until the season starts?
  21. I think people are over egging his need to be versatile - the coaches love him for special teams and that's how he'll make it. Any play he can contribute on defence is a bonus in their eyes.
  22. what i dont get though is why you think the texans would want to trade for lewis - if we were going to get rid of him, then we'll cut him in which case they don't have to give up anything, and i think you are over egging the romeo crenell thing... he's not the general manager and i don't think their strong safety situation is that bad - certainly not bad enough to trade away a sixth or seventh rounder lewis is more likely to be cut than traded if he doesnt make it on this team which i think is highly unlikely given his experience and that he'd be playing a backup role which is all the more crucial given how fragile webb has proven to be in the past this assumes that harbs or anyone actually wants to get rid of lewis in the first place
  23. I don't think anyone thinks that is actually a competition - pitta isn't going anywhere, if camp is fighting anyone it is butler or Matthews
  24. i guess i kind of am forgetting the whole agent aspect of this deal - this is a 9mill 1 year deal that an agent gets to parade around as a 6 year 92 mill deal but i dont think thats enough of a reason surely...
