  1. Well said.. this article by Barnwell I think hits the nail on the head when it comes to successfull drafting and the whole quantity vs quality debate. Good read... http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2016/story/_/id/15159462/successful-drafting-all-volume-nfl
  2. Lol yeah no thanks... these Internet GM experts would have probably drafted Lawrence Phillips instead of Ogden back in '96
  3. Von miller and Khalil mack are both 6-3 250 lb but this dude who is 6-3 243lb needs to add a ton of weight to play?? What?
  4. This
  5. All the moaning and crying is downright hillarious... I had to pop some popcorn to enjoy the show better..I'm not even going to attempt to pour logic on this whine-fest bonfire.. all that matters is how our season ends next year, thats when all the drafting can be judged anyway... this is too funny
  6. This... well said..
  7. Ummm, I dunno... maybe because ravens are private organization and they set the rules on what gets posted on their board (freedom of speech? lol)? You wanna curse, scream, rant and rave go scream at a mirror ... BTW Stanley looks like a great pick, is valued by NFL scouts and organizations, including ravens (which is the only thing that matters actually) so go cry some more...
  8. Spence didn't play at Ohio state in 2014, was supended in fall of same year before season began... in his best season bosa didn't have a dominant pass rusher opposite him so there goes that theory..
  9. Are the Cowboys somehow precluded from taking a pass rusher in 2nd, 3rd or whatever round? Too many people are presuming what cowboys front office (which has been drafting smart lately as already pointed out) will do to convince themselves of a particular outcome because they don't like/like a certain player...
  10. 3-4/4-3 it doesn't matter.. nickel is your base defence as there are 5 DBs on the field more than 60% of the time anyway.. this is also why having 3 good CBs is very important as your slot CB sees a lot of time on field... you can do it different ways, 4-2-5 like we did a lot of last 2 games or do something like Arizona where 6-1 215lb safety/lb hybrid is playing one of the ILB in a 3-4.. hence all the talk of shifting safety to LB and why players that can play multiple positions on the field (ramsey, jack, bosa, etc.) are coveted.. just look at what tyrann mathieu does on the field and how valuable he is to Cardinal's D.. the guy is a defensive weapon
  11. Maybe because he's a 6-2 270 lb piece of granite that can't run and chase laterally or cover RBs/TEs down the field making him completely useless unless the play is coming right at him inside the tackle box? It's a passing league and even 6-2 235 lb CJ Mosley struggled in coverage last season...
  12. Yeah, you don't know that, neither does the front office.. you are making a gross assumption about what this kid, a total stranger to us all, is all about. Addictive or not, he will have to make sound decisions every day about his choices for a long time.. sometimes old habits die hard, temptations are there, you never know. All it takes is a moment of weakness.. What's overlooked here is that he also blatantly lied about it the first time he got caught.. That combined with underwhelming combine and apparent lack of team interest on his pro day and I wouldn't be surprised if he slipped to 3rd round like Gregory last year....
  13. I used to think the same thing until I realized 3-4/4-3 base D has been replaced by nickel as NFLs base D (around 63% of D snaps last year were with 5 DBs). So, Bosa really wouldn't be too out of place in a 4-2-5 alignment, playing DE edge, playing OLB when we do 3-4 looks, and kicking inside at DT for obvious passing downs. We, like rest of NFL play multiple fronts and he is athletic enough to play all 3 downs. He can't cover downhill like von Miller (not many can for that matter) but then again we don't ask Suggs and other OLBs to so that except drop into zones and flatts 10-15% of time.. Plus, he brings physicality and a little nasty to his play which is a plus.. I think he would do well in our system...
  14. With the mention of how much Ravens use nickel D it might be appropriate to point out all of NFL is going nickel as base D, 63.4% plays in 2015 featured 5 DBs.. just a continuation of an upward trend.. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25541357/heres-why-the-nickel-defense-is-the-new-base-defense-in-the-nfl Also, I think Ryan Kerrigan is a better comparison to Bosa if one has to compare (if he transitioned well to OLB don't see why Bosa cant), although like McPhee he can be kicked inside as interior rusher... Like previously said here, set edge on 1 & 2 downs, rush from inside on obvious passing downs. No matter which way you slice it he improves our team...
  15. Apparently, Ravens organization thinks he is athletic enough to play OLB... This coming from today's pre-draft presser... http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/bal/baltimore-ravens
  16. I think you have a misunderstanding of his role as OLB in UCLA system.. OLB roles in 3 front and 4 front are different. Here's PFF link that explains different LB roles. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/05/30/defensive-prototypes-linebackers/ Jack's value is middle of field coverage ability (which NFL defenses today put a premium on), sideline to sideline run and chase, and getting off blocks to affect the run game. So judging him based on (lack of) sack production is a bit misguided. If he is drafted by the Ravens he is a WILL ILB in our system, something which he is well suited for.
