Pass protecting left tackles don't exactly grow on trees, just remember that the alternatives are Hurst, someone off the scrapheap, or a rookie from a spread offense who has never come out of a three point stance.

I'm with you. I don't like the tension between Monroe and management but he's massively talented and if he can stay healthy he will outside perform all other possibilities for us. Sure, i don't see him finishing his contract with us but I'm sure he can be professional for this season and perform well when healthy and allow a 2-4 round draft pick to develop a year at least. In my view guard is a much larger issue since KO is gone.

  2. Things are gonna turn out grand. The holes have been whittled down to just a few. I think its in our best interest to address pass rush round one, seeing as true pass rush talent never slides far and the CB crop is pretty impressive this year. We get lucky and land Apple, Artie Burns, or Will Jackson in round 2 or go o line there and maybe grab Cyrus Jones or Kendall Fuller in round 3.. Things look bright for us come April 28th.

Mike Wallace, Bershad Perriman, Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken that's a nice group of recievers for Joe to throw to and Campanaro too nice :-) Now if they somehow can get Ramsey he could play corner opposite of Jimmy Smith and hope Noah Spence falls to the second round for passrushing you looking at a pretty good defense. :-)

If no Ramsey then I'd be happy with Stanley to allow Flacco enough time to actually make those deep passes and hopefully Spence or someone like Will Jackson III or Kendall Fuller is there in round 2... we got options all of a sudden!

Dare I say it but I think our secondary might be elite now... Near shutdown cornerback in Jimmy, and beast safeties in Hill & Weddle; the only other thing we could do is draft another corner like VH3 however I think pass rush might be more needed at this point.

Praying for Bosa round 1 and Cyrus Jones round 2... With Jones's athleticism and being given the lightest responsibility of the 4.. he'd be a solid pick. Plus his special teams impact #winning

I really like how Ozzie is aggressively going after the right player at the right price.

Exactly. It makes a difference to show players just how much they mean to your team. Same as how he did with Watson. People take for granted what respect in an organization can do for a team as a whole.

I like this signing, but I wonder if this means there's less chances of us signing Mike Wallce?? If we got Mike Wallace for cheap that would also irritate steeler fans more?

I saw an article saying we have enough for both, its just a matter of closing the deal.

I'd have to imagine two things happen-

    1. Webb takes a pay cut (which I saw happening anyway with a top three safety cap hit)

    2. Then Ravens utilize more three safety sets with uncertainty still looming at corner.

    I really love the move

Agreed. I really feel like the corner situation is gonna work out just fine. Jimmy wasn't at 100 percent last year and he'll benefitted massively from having a reliable guy back there like Weddle. Wright came on strong and with more time with complex defense like ours will help him as well. Plus I expect either a trade back and pick up of a first round corner or we grab a solid guy in the second. At this point I'm more worried about our aging pass rush.

This is basically what I think about this move as well. I agree with everything you said.

Who has been the leader in the secondary the past 4 years? There really hasn't been one. Weddle is the QB back there, he'll make the other guys so much better. Brooks and Elam don't HAVE to go. Webb fits all over the secondary, Elam takes the 2 spot behind Weddle and develops, Brooks does the same at the SS position behind Hill, Jimmy and Shareece start at CB (from what it looks like pre-draft), with Arrington rolling in at nickel or corner, still fits 2 more corners behind them. Plenty of depth, plenty of special teams players in that mix, and uses the normal roster spots allotted for the secondary... whats the issue?

I' would say their horrid run defense has a lot to do with so many tackles from the backend....Ed made a ton of INT's, which we have lacked, and that what has been missing.....His leadership sure hasn't produced a ton of wins in SD, we have losing season and all of a sudden our secondary has stunk for years??? granted the secondary was weak, but so was our pass rush, which go hand in hand....

Dude our secondary has been AWFUL since 2013. We all know that.

Don't be ridiculous. Webb isn't going anywhere, we don't save anywhere near enough to make cutting him worth while. Not to mention he still is one of, if not the, best slot CB we have. We'll run 3 safety sets with him, Weddle, and Hill. Those three rangy safeties on the field at once is a nightmare for a division that has AJ Green, Brown, and Gordon. Brooks is a developmental piece so he's not going anywhere. Elam will battle it out in training camp for the final 5th safety spot and he needs to prove his worth on ST to make it.

You said it perfectly.... And also just got me very excited lol

Easy.......they dont, cut webby maybe keep elam and brooks if they can fill in at corner depth

I think Webb's versatility and loyalty is worth keeping around to play the number 2 FS, nickel, and corner when needed. Whereas, Elam has proven absolutely nothing. Brooks has potential if he can stay healthy so id love another year to see him work.

The Ravens don't appoint leaders, they have to earn that, by their play......Ed earned his leadership by being a play maker his entire career, and he is going to be in the HOF....Weddle not so much....

Id say his 3 pro bowls and 94 tackle yearly average for his career speak for his play. People in this league respect him as a person and he will quickly gain the respect of his teammates. Its a great signing in every way.

I admit i am being a negative Nancy here, but i just think the amount of money sent could have been used to cover more of our needs.....I know people remember the first half of the season, but believe it or not, our secondary was ranked pretty high over the last 8 games, i felt we needed to tweak it with subtle moves, but this takes up a lot of our money...Also i admit not a huge Weddle fan, as we have played them a lot over the last few years, and he really hasn't done anything to wow me into thinking he is worth this type of contract...JMO....

He's the leader our secondary has needed since Ed left. He can be the QB of the back end and also add a motivating voice like Ed did. With him and Suggs leading the defense we finally have a unified group again.

Welcome to B'More Mr. E Dub... wonder who moves on at this point? I really like Brooks speed and versatility.. his ability to cover the nickle... but hey... that's not my problem... just know the Defense got that much better...

makes me wonder too. I think Kendrick Lewis is as good as gone. From there i think it comes down to Brooks and Elam. I'm like you, I love what I've seen from Terrence Brooks when he's been healthy enough to see the field. Webb could end up as depth at corner.

  15. Pac Man is old and sketchy. I'd welcome all the speed we can get at receiver, but the signing i most want to see is Kelvin Beachum. Not only would it hurt the Steelers but it would also give us a solid LT who's only 26 years old and it'd keep us from drafting an OT at 6 so we can focus on defensive playmakers and get our D back to terrorizing QB's.

Even in our worst drafts years we've done better than teams like Jacksonville, Cleveland, Washington, Philly, San Diego, etc. I don't know why people are questioning Ozzie. Every team has had bad drafts. We happen to see them less than many other fans and I think Ravens fans take that for granted. Rule of thumb: when you start doubting our front office just look at the lowly Cleveland Browns and thank God for Ozzie Newsome.

  17. Just think how much better we'll be with Perriman's speed forcing to teams to play more cautiously. Instead of just loading the box and teeing off they have to respect the long ball. Torrey Smith wasn't a consistent receiver by any means but having the blazing speed changed our offense and opened windows for everyone else and the run game... and Torrey isn't even as fast as Breshad and on tape Breshad seems much more coordinated so his entry to our offense will be enormous
