If he's able to practice, I think the Ravens are in a situation where he has to be active. He was clearly the best back in preseason and Forsett and West have been pretty bad, to say the least.
Hopefully it is just a precaution. I guess it is a good sign he finished the game Sunday. Cannot imagine a worse scenario than Hurst "blocking" Irvin or Mack.
If Forsett starts Sunday, I will literally boo until Dixon gets in the game.

When you have speed, there is no excuse. Cover 3 is designed to stop deep balls but with the speed we have we can get to the soft spots between the LBs and safeties and make for bigger gains and harder tackles because there are less defenders in front of the ball. you beat the safeties to the intermediate because your wrs are simply too fast, they have to respect the deep ball but also have to watch the intermediate, when you work that part of the field it becomes a pick your poison scenario for the safeties; do I commit to the seam and skinny post so they stop abusing us or Do I stay deep and prevent the big play? Eventually they have to commit to the intermediate and when that time comes you can make them pay for it. Its a chess match and trestman is failing it by doing what the defense wants.
Or you can throw it underneath, complete 20 straight passes and move the ball down the field consistently.
I know there are more ways to attack the cover 3, but those take too long to develop against a d-line pinning their ears back to rush the passer because of the lack of run game.

Not entirely sure your point. No one is expecting Wright to shut down anyone. Because he can't... Not many Corners can. But I consider a TD to be a big play.... whether its a 40 yard deep ball, or a 5 yard route. So far during his time in purple, he's been a player known to give up the big play fairly easily. Just my opinion.
I'm not sure you're following what I'm saying. I never denied the fact that he gave up 2 TDs, but he was locked up with Allen Robinson which he really should never be. When he was on Hurns (a really good #2), he didn't give up much. It seemed like you were expecting him to shut down whoever he's covering based on the fact he didn't give up many yards (but if you consider TDs to be big plays then I guess that's your basis on that) to a very good receiving duo.
1 hour ago, Edug27 said:So Wright is excused from giving up big plays on a consistent basis to all wideouts who are starters, first rd picks, or deemed 'very talented'? Its football man. Offenses will design plays to cause matchup problems with Wright. You can't hide him all game. Jimmy is not Revis. What happens when the Jets come with Decker and Marshall? Or the Raiders come to town with a 6'2 Crabtree as the #2 receiver?
Wright isn't Revis either, so how can you expect him to shutout the guy he's covering? He hasn't been bad at all. Robinson is a top 10 receiver, there's no way Jimmy shouldn't have been shadowing him. So you're asking what happens when a team with 2 good receivers plays the Ravens? Are you not aware that the Jags have a top 5 receiving duo in the league?
14 minutes ago, Edug27 said:Robinson isn't the first WR to burn Wright. Number 2 wideouts are also beating Wright for big plays consistently. The rookie Coleman did just that last game.
Wright has shown the ability to make nice tackles around the line of scrimmage. But his man coverage is tough to watch. It doesn't take a Julio Jones to beat him. He's having trouble defending simple routes by basic receivers. I'm not sure Tavon is the answer right now, but hopefully we can find ways to clean this up as the season goes on.
Coleman is a 1st round pick and very talented, so it's not like he's some no name rookie. Also, Hurns did nothing yesterday against Wright. Much like other posters have said, Wright should not have ever been on Robinson.
Linebackers are supposed to take on blockers to clog up the hole. Just watched the Crowell run on gamepass and it looked like he could have attacked the lineman more on his outside shoulder, but I'm sure his job on that play was to take on the blocker and clog up the hole.

Dude it's football. If your life is miserable enough that you come on here to tell fans they're idiots for being happy the team we root for is 3-0, then I am sorry.
5 minutes ago, wizard1 said:You guys are unbelievable--struttin around like a bunch of banty roosters. Yeah we are 3 and 0 with the 3 ugly wins against a gaggle of lousy teams. That's right we beat 3 teams that are collectively 1 and 8 . Definitely time to start talkin trash right? According to my calculations we will not win again until Thursday Night Football when we barely beat the Browns. So for freakin cryin out loud will all of you guys stop the trash talkin . Time to get real !
You're right. Wish we were more like Pittsburgh and getting destroyed by a rookie QB. Or Cincy getting lit up by Trevor Siemian. Or Cleveland and have the equivalent of present day Elvis Grbac at QB.
I don't think anyone is talking crap or anything even close really. While there are definitely signs of a bright future, this team has a little ways to go (mainly run game on offense).
2 minutes ago, BmoreBird22 said:Scouts know what he CAN do. Many consider him the second best player in the draft.
He should just sit out the rest of the year with his banged up ankle. Stock can only go down.
10 minutes ago, flynismo said:It's amazing to me; we are seeing the perfect storm on offense, just like 2013...horrid OL play, no run game, receivers dropping too many big passes and not making enough plays...combined with absolute mind boggling play calls. And here we are, 3-0, thanks to superb defense and clutch play by our QB and K.
You're right indeed; Trestman does have his good moments. And far too often, we just don't execute -- whether that be Flacco missing on a pass, the WR screwing up, the OL not blocking. Now, ANY TIME where execution is problem, the finger must first be pointed at the players, regardless of what the OC or DC is doing. There is no room for argument on that point, because if the players are not doing their job, it prevents the OC from doing his.
Before anyone mistakes that as me defending Trestman, I certainly am not doing that. Yeah, Flacco completed 21 straight, but why? Because JAX did the exact same thing to us as we did to CLE last week...they gave us underneath plays all day long, because at the end of the day they knew they could stop us at will on short yardage plays -- just don't give up the big play. How many of those 21 straight were check downs? At least three that I can remember, probably more. Hell, one of those completions went for a four yard loss! Flacco did what he was supposed to do and took what the defense gave him. But it was an absolute lack of creativity from Trestman. I mean seriously, I can't even remember seeing anyone doing something as simple as going in motion. It was just go line up at your spot, stand there then run your 4 yard route.
Trestman is absolutely not our only problem. But he is a problem. He certainly hasn't been an asset this far, and if you aren't an asset you are holding us back.
This is literally their defensive scheme man. They run cover 3 pretty much exclusively. It wouldn't make sense to consistently call deep routes against a defense designed to stop deep throws.
4 minutes ago, Deflated Football said:So I don't have a problem with Trestman.. like at all. We're transitioning to a passing offense, something we've never been. We have no run game whatsoever so we're really one dimensional right now. Forsett isn't very good anymore and West is a great change of pace back but can't handle a full load. I'm not understanding the beef that Ravens fans have with him.
Couldn't agree more. It's the first year in a new offense with most of the unit (including QB) either returning from injury, a rookie, or first year on the team. That is coupled with the fact that Forsett has been so ineffective. A whole lot of people saying Trestman is doing a bad job, but not much saying what he should be doing instead - don't value these sort of people's opinions at all.
1 hour ago, OLD SCHOOL SMASH BALL said:I am calling out the Offensive coaching staff:
Is there ANY offensive minded coach on this staff, or just a bunch of Yes men?
You have got to be kidding me with these pathetic Offensive game plans, and embarrasing routes these receivers are running.
This aint high school here fellas. You spend all summer, get Wallace, Perriman, Chris Moore speed guys, and this is the best Offense you can put on the field?
You mean to tell me you cant draw up plays to get your speedy guys the ball on space?? YAC
Give me a freakin break. The slowest and oldest players consistently get targeted in these basic routes, and fall down as soon as they get the ball.
Old and slow and no imagination has got to go.
We have to do better.
The ground game is pathetic with Forsett in there. Playbook becomes severely limited with no run game at all. Playing a team that runs predominately zone is why the "slowest and oldest players" got targets and fell down. Sit down in the zones. Although I do agree they should get the younger guys more involved, I don't think the offensive staff/Trestman are doing a bad job at all. They're just handicapped so much by the horrible run game.
54 minutes ago, Ravenseconbeast said:Joe Flacco making horrendous Oakland defense look 'elite' is the only thing Joe will do well on week4.
I predict Flacco will top his previous performance and go for 3 INT 0 TDs and the apologists will start blaming 'the running back and the offensive line' for back to back to back INTs in 1st half. Then, we are forced to realize we can't do squat with Joe and our offense is (once again) forced to be 1-dimensional and run the rest of the game to kill the clock.
Blame Cam Cameron, Jim Caldwell, Mark Trestman, and the next OC in 2017. The results are always the same.
Great bargain we are getting giving Flacco a fat check 2nd time! Hope you Flacco homers enjoy our tremendous investment on Mr.Flacco!
Apparently you did not watch Blake Bortles today.
40 minutes ago, pep_meister said:is that not what typically happens ? pessimistic? just realistic. we can't afford the market for a top tier DL. D Lineman are getting paid 100M now a days... it's just reality.
I meant pessimistic in focusing on his eventual, and apparently inevitable, departure, rather than enjoying his play now.
Who is saying Flacco had an off-game? Trestman cannot catch the ball for the receivers, block for the line, or run for the backs. Are people upset with Trestman if Wallace catches that touchdown?
Anyone can predict what the Ravens are going to do because the running game is terrible. Forsett does not deserve more than ~3 carries a game.
3 minutes ago, ERey said:3-0!!! You are what your record says you are!
The Good - The defensive line. Timmy Jernigan. Justin Tucker is money!
The Bad - Mike Wallace and Perriman both dropped passes.
The Ugly - Justin Forsett and the run game. Kenneth Dixon anyone?
Fixed it for you lol

Forsett.
11 minutes ago, hawkprey said:Why can't we enjoy a player for any amount of time? As soon as they play well it's "Guess he's gone".
This board just so pessimistic for some reason.
The interior line has been really good this year. Jernigan, Williams, Pierce, Guy, and even Urban to a lesser extent have been very impressive.
Hopefully Jensen's playing time will convince the staff to play him over Zuttah.
Just now, Cville-Raven said:Yeah, we can move the ball but can't go the full 100%. Our passing game is just way too lateral.
Gus Bradley runs cover 3 almost exclusively, which is probably why there were not many deep shots today. Have to attack the cover 3 underneath.

It's Lewis in the protocol, but same thing.
He ran behind a terrible line at Louisiana Tech so it's not like he hasn't done that before. I know I probably have unreasonable expectations, but he has a shot at rookie of the year. Had one of pff's highest elusive ratings last year, and will hopefully have the opportunity.
