  1. Nice topic!

-Mosley will have a great year, people tend to forget he was recovering from a hand injury, and his second half of the season was huge. A little bit of recovery, Orr with him to take care of the coverage part. He's also still able to improve his game, and if he does take a step forward, he's gonna have a DPOY season.

-ZDS will have 8 sacks this year. With other OLB beside him, he will be in a much better situation that will help him use his talent in the right way. He's got room for improvement, I think we all agree on this, but he's willing to improve and has already begun working.

-Gillmore or Maxx will go to the Pro Bowl. I don't which one, depends on how much Maxx improves and if they can stay healthy, but they will be near unstoppable in the redzone.

-Jernigan finally makes the leap, and has a 6/7 sacks season. Like Mosley, his second half was dominating.

-Buck has 700/800 rushing yards and 600/700 receiving yards. I still question him as a ball carier, but the double threat stuff is real and special.

-Jeremy Butler will step up and share playing time with SSSr, his routes and blocking ability will help us big time. Aiken will have a 1000 yards and be the go-to guy on 3rd downs.

Davis was the best db on the team before the injury. However I am very weary of the rashaan Melvin effect for both of them lol

I couldn't watch the Pittsburgh game because it was scheduled at 3am here, but apparently he did perform well. However it was just one game if I'm not mistaken, quite small sample.

    Melvin effect?

I graduated from Virginia Tech when he actually played there and I'm gonna tell you right now, this is one of the lesser educated things that I have read. In no way, shape, or form does he fit the mold of a defensive end in the 3-4. I doubt he could even play DE in the 4-3 because he's way too small.

Well then, maybe I didn't watch the good part of the tape, but I will ask you to educate me on how is he playing on the edge here:

I did stop watching after less than 2min, and I am by no means a football expert, but I'm pretty sure he's lined up as a DL

No way he can play end at just over 220 lbs. He's undersized even for OLB.

Have you watched the tape? Anytime I look at him he's lined up on the inside, hands in the dirt. That's a 3/4DE to me, even though your argument is right (and a reason why I don't like him)

  5. So I understand he hasn't been the anchor of our defense, and has been inconsistent, but out of curiosity I watched his stats of the year and was very surprised by his evolution:

To say he's made a leap wouldn't make him justice, and I recall when Canty was inujured in the beginning of the season, he was our leader in sacks and playing at Canty's level, maybe better. So while the hype around Buckner is real, why not give LG a chance to compete with Urban? He could very well turn out to be a 7/8 sacks/year guy if we continue to developp him, wouldn't you think?

That's pretty much how I view this class, too. I figure we might double-dip here, taking one of these guys early and then seriously consider Ngakoue and Dadi Nicholas in mid rounds.

From what I've seen, Nicholas is a 3/4DE, not an OLB, though that doesn't rule him out of the conversation I wouldn't put him in the same mold as Ngakoue.

I'm starting to consider taking an Edge in the 3/4th round, I think there is a large group of talents there. Also, let's be realistic, apart from Spence and Bosa, no Rusher will have an impact in Year One, juste look at the 2015 class. I don't think any of them got more than 3 sacks... I like guys like Ngakoue, Schobert, Ochi or Fackrell more than Ogbah or Lawson. We have time to developp them, we aren't in a hurry like the medias make it seem.

  7. I loved it until the 4th round. Buckner, Spriggs and Shepard? I'm jumping in that train.

After that, it's either bold, either I don't like it. Ngakoue, for example, will go in the beginning of the 3rd. And I don't see the point in drafting another DL, Jones should be drafted instead, he's going in the 4th.

  8. Aight, here's another version of this mock:

    1) Laquon Treadwell: Logic to keep the same guy, Treadwell makes an impact from Day 1 and for the next 10 years here, let's not try to be too creative and take the safe pick.

    2) Jason Spriggs: Boom, going OT in the 2nd. Spriggs has to be my favourite OT in this class, had a great week at the Senior Bowl, and fits perfectly to the ZBS. I believe he's the answer.

    3) Kentrell Brothers: No pass rusher or CB yet, which some will complain about, but Brothers to me would add much more than depth at CB or OLB.

    4) Joe Schobert: Already explained that I loved the guy, and drafting a pass rusher in the 4th isn't really a problem to me (Za'Darius, Pernell, Doom and Kruger have been fine)

    4) Cyrus Jones: Bama/Ozzie jokes aside, I like Jones and think he's totally worth a 4th round pick, plus I love players with a chip on their shoulder.

    4) Victor Ochi: Another OLB to groom, he's been dominating at the Shrine Game, given time he can be a force in our pass rush.

I like brothers because he is very good in coverage and he Does it without super impressive speed. He's built like a thumper, plays like a thumper, but holds his own in coverage. I think him and Mosley at ilb would be a great tandem as long as we have pass rush.

Though I'm not sure I understand the word "thumper", I fully agree with what you said. I also think many people underestimate how badly we need a good cover ILB. The secondary was doing good in the later part of the season, it's guys like Barnidge or Eifert that killed us, and CJ can't cover them.

Why does everyone say Dallas is a bad situation? I mean that guy Scandrick played pretty well for them. They have talent.

Apparently the scheme in Baltimore would use him to his advantage, and he wouldn't have the pressure of "top 10 pick stuff" (though I don't believe in that kind of argument) according to the Ravens site

I'm a big Thomas fan so that's the only disagreement I have there. But do you really think brothers will be there in the 3rd? He's one of my favorite players in this class

Big Spriggs and Shepard fan here.

I honestly do, he's a very disciplined player, sure tackler and I love his coverage skills, but he doesn't have a stratospheric ceiling, lacks instinct and probably measurables. He would be perfect for us as a complement for CJ who gets toasted in coverage, but for other teams, he's not an ILB whom you can build a defense around. To me he's going in the first half of the 3rd. I would be surprised if a team takes him in the 2nd.

Btw Matakevich in the end of the 4th has to be my favourite ILB of this class, so if Brothers isn't there I'd be all in for him.

Considering his injuries, I'd only consider him if he came cheap.

That's for sure, but if we could snatch a former top 10 pick for a low price, I'd be all in to take the risk.

I'm convinced Dodd will become the best pass rusher in this class. I think he has the best all round game and projects the best against NFL caliber tackles, especially with one or two offseasons in the weightroom.

But can he translate from DE to OLB? And where do you see him fall?

  14. So I'm quite new to the NFL, Football being nothing in my country, and I was reading this article saying Claiborne could be a target for us in free agency. I never got to watch him play, and from what they were saying he just wasn't in the good environment to succeed, and he could develop as a raven.

Again, not knowing him very much, I'll ask your thoughts on him.

  15. My porridge went smooth this morning, I had my shares of good grades, and now that? I don't know what I did yesterday, but today is a great day!

Clearly the best news of the last weeks, this is huge! I'm sorry, I haven't read all the comments, there are just too many. But now, the trade back scenario is much more plausible and I hope you guys understand how much this means. We can get something Spence or maybe Treadwell in the teens and then have two second rounders at least, this is big!

Also, I tink people tend to believe that the only trade scenario would be for QB needy teams. Let's say this, if Hargreaves (Florida) were to fall to us, and Miami is right after us, and TB obviously wants him and knows too well that Miami wants him too... Feel me? Just wanted to tell this, and didn't know where.

  16. I have difficulties figuring out how to turn his career around. He's had opportunities and just couldn't take advantage of it. The fact that Orr was used more and more while he was staying on the bench just sums it up, he just can't seem to translate to the next level. And if we could save nearly 1M by cutting him, I would tend to let him go.

  17. I think Canty, K. Lewis, Arrington, Pitta and some others that I forgot are going to be cut, freeing cap space for KO. Tuck will be tagged, and hopefully Upshaw will be traded (I'm still new to the whole comp pick part, so I don't know if a team might have to pay too big of a price knowing that he was a 2nd round pick).

I think next year we won't have Rice's dead money, which is not to be forgotten.
