Me neither. To me, he's the biggest talent in this draft. He's more gifted than anybody else in this class, and yes, more than Ramsey.
However I don't see the Chargers taking him, just doesn't seem to fit their personality to have a playmaking ILB. Just a feeling though.
I'm wondering, would people here be happy if Ozzie takes Nkemdiche in the 2nd? His character concerns seem real and his game is full of flaws, but if we can erase them, he has a ton of upsides. He kind of reminds me of a Jernigan 2.0 with his attitude.

I think it's more likely we'll be grabbing a higher rated guy who falls out of the first round.
Agreed, Ozzie will go BPA in the two first rounds, so if there's a faller for us in the 2nd he won't hesitate. However I think Thompson is fully worth an early 2nd round pick.
8 minutes ago, Underdogsontop! said:I'd be ecstatic if we got Spence in the 1st and Thompson in the 2nd! I think thompsons stock will rise some as we get closer to the draft. If by some chance Thompson ran a 4.47 range 40 he might slip into the late 1st round. Especially if the 1st safety Ramsey is gone in the in the top 3 of the 1st round.
Thompson is not known for being blazing fast, so I don't see it happening, fortunately.

Long lanky WR who competes well for the ball. Seems like a nice 4th or 5th round option. Wouldn't bring much speed to the offense(which is needed) but he'd bring a reliable red zone target and maybe even develop into a solid #2. Imo. Anyone know much about him?
I like him a lot in the 4th or maybe later. Highly underrrated prospect imo, had to deal with a mediocre quaterback and was still able to pull insane grabs. You have to love his speed and fluidity, he kind of reminds me of a taller Emmanuel Sanders, don't know if I'm the only one.
1 hour ago, Edgar said:based solely on game film I'd say Thompson is a better prospect than Ramsey. I realize I'm way in the minority on that and that Ramsey perhaps offers more versatility, I just don't think his game tape measures up on the whole and Thompson would be a steal to me in the second round.
Depends on what you want in a prospect, but Ramsey offers way higher upsides. In therms of ceiling, I see Thompson as a future Eric Weddle, and Ramsey as a future Charles Woodson.
Having the next Eric Weddle in the 2nd would be a steal though, that's for sure and this would help our secondary in the most significant way I can imagine.
Ramsey will not make it past Dallas, rumors have him as the highest player on their board. And even if he does, Jax will jump on the opportunity. So we can kiss him goodbye.
Having Hargreaves would still be awesome, him and a back-to-100% Jimmy would be a dominant duo in the league.
9 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:I've also grown on myles Jack and like the idea of him and Thompson, gives us a lot of big play ability in coverage and immediately turns our defense from sluggish to one of the faster ones in the league. We also could become one of the smartest defenses in the league as they both have some brilliant instincts and play recognition.
So you finally caught up on the Thompson bandwagon
.
My mind is changing twice a week, but as of now I had Hargreaves and Spriggs. Not flashy but this would solidify us on important areas.
The Jack-Thompson combo is probably my pick is you ask me to give you "game changers"
If we end up with this, I'll be ecstatic.
It's still think it's very optimistic though, Coleman in the 2nd seems highly unlikely, and you'd want to take C. Jones in the 4th.
I really like the Wright and Kaufusi picks, however. I think Kaufusi is far from just a physical freak, I loved watching his tape. I view him as an upgrade over Upshaw. As of Wright, you can't deny his instinct and the intensity he brings to the game. He and Mosley would be a nightmare. He's also a great fit, especially with the 3-3-5 that Pees uses on 3rd downs.
14 minutes ago, GrimCoconut said:I guess you could call it a comparison but I'm not calling Carl Nassib Joey Bosa unless I'm saying he's a homeless Bosa--as in a poor, poor man's Joey Bosa. Lol. They both just offer similar playing style and rush the passer in similar ways.
Nassib is just very far behind Bosa in terms of his development because he hasn't played as long. He's still pretty fresh to this. I like him a lot and he posted great numbers. I watched Penn State football quite a bit and he's one of the better his I saw. Certainly not the only guy on the team but he's got great potential.
Yeah, but he seems to be quite a bit of a "project", which is a banned word this year apparently. Maybe in the 4th round he'd deserve a close look but not before.
Have I talked to you about Leslie Frazier?
(Don't know if the expression exists in english) I'll put a coin on him, he's a smart guy and he understand what he has to do, he said he's been working on it. He ended up on IR last season while it was more of a 3-4 games injury, not a season ending one. We all agree about this kid playmaking ability, when he's on the field, he stands out.
SSSr won't play every down next season, so Camp will get plenty of opportunities.
I really don't know where to put it, but what are your thoughts on Darron Lee? Not at 6 but in the second?
From what I've seen, he has great pass rushing skills, anytime they lined him up on the edge his speed showed up. He also seems decent in coverage but I hate the way he was used on the games I watched, always covering the same empty zone and ending up useless.
4 minutes ago, GrimCoconut said:Yeah, it's a natural and honestly understandable defense mechanism to deal with grief. I get it. I actually think Carl Nassib offers a lot of what Bosa does but he's far more unrefined and behind in practically every way. I just think they're both similar players.
Wow, didn't expect that comparison lol. Will have to dig in more on Nassib then, I had a "meh" feeling from what I saw in the few tapes I watched, but I guess I will have to do some extra homework.
48 minutes ago, GrimCoconut said:I think Bosa helping Spence is a pretty obvious statement, though. The main point is people seem to have soured on Bosa, and while I'm not his biggest fan I think that's a bit silly. He's still a great prospect and I'd be happy to have him. Pass rushers benefit from each other and teams simply triple-teamed & double-teamed Bosa this year when they couldn't do that in 2014.
Well, when people realised that they could forget about having Bosa, it's only natural that they tried to replace him. I agree it's silly, but natural I guess.
How not to love this draft?
The only thing that concerns me is Smith's ability to rush the passer from the edge, I have never seen him do that on the few films I watched on him.
I don't know if he's been brought up before on this topic, but how do you guys feel about Aaron Burbridge? He looks like the absolute reliable target.

Is Burbridge the Michigan State receiver? His name rings a bell.
Yes
Fuller aside, I like the mock a lot. I'm also a fan of Jack for our first. Having Ngakoue and Jones in the 4th would have me crazy, they're complete steals at this point.
1 hour ago, GrimCoconut said:I don't ever recall Spence being seen as superior to Bosa but I do recall top 10-20 hype. He certainly would've made Bosa better this year, imo..
Or the opposite.
Would love it, but it's quite optimistic. Not impossible, but I'd be very surprised if Spence fell this far.
I'm also sceptical on Miller in the second, there are better options, even though he's intriguing
Is there a chance Coleman is there in the 2nd? I think I saw a mock where he fell, but it was like 2 months ago. Seems impossible now, I hardly believe Minesotta could pass on a guy like him.
13 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Alexander wasn't tested in college, but on the rare occasion a qb looked his way, he has shown to not know how to get his head turned around as he face guards. Now it's a small sample size but it is something he has shown to struggle with. What happens when he is tested by NFL qbs who don't overthrow him whenever they throw his way? Cb not turning their head is a problem that tends to take years to fix, if ever.
I'll have to dig on the "turning head" part, but he successfully faced Sterling Shepard and Calvin Ridley for a half. That answered the competition question for me. One could also argue that he had a dominant pass rush to help him.
44 minutes ago, sflegend89 said:I am really starting to think we trade this pick if Bosa or Ramsey aren't there. If we can't find a trade partner then it will be Jack, Stanley, or Buckner.
The "top WR" infatuation phase with Treadwell is over for me. I love his physicality and catch radius but I just don't think he has the speed or splash play ability to justify taking him that high. If I'm picking a WR that high I want a guy who can run after the catch and take a short-intermediate throw to the house every once in a a while, I just don't see that in Treadwell's game. Good player, but just because he's the top WR in the class doesn't mean you overdraft him, it's not a good WR class as far as elite talent goes, much better value with guys like Boyd, Doctson, Coleman, and Braxton Miller. In fact I think Boyd might actually be a better pro than Treadwell, he brings a lot of that same jumpball ability that Treawell has but can actually run past people in the open field and make big plays with his feet.
I still think Perriman has the goods to be a #1 guy, we have a great TE core, nice stable of RB's, and some pieces at WR already. To me this 1st rounder almost certainly needs to be a playmaker for the defense and we can still add a high upside WR in round 2 or 3. This team needs to get back to it's roots with a strong defensive unit and that starts with the investment of a high draft pick.
Funny, that's exactly how I'm starting to feel also. I'd be more comfortable with Shepard in the 3rd. I wouldn't be against Coleman if he makes it to the 2nd, which I doubt... Boyd absolutly, as long as we don't take Spence in the first. Having two guys with off field history seems a bad idea.
I have yet to see a completion on Alexander, so he's my guy. I think the turnover problem gets solved with a guy like Frazier who coaches agressivity above anything else.
I have concerns with VH3, like the way he got burnt in the last few games, that was really horrible and against average college competition... His size doesn't worry me, he's covered Treadwell nicely, so I think it demonstrates he can deal with his size.
There's so much to like about Alexander, his potential, his talent, but also his attitude. I remember during the Oklahoma game, he showed a Sizzle-like attitude, trash talking the opponent and motivating his teammates. Something that I've missed this year.
1 hour ago, Boddiebroadus said:I also really like jack more so than smith. He can do literally everything on defense.
He can do everything and be elite at it. Shut down Eifert and Barnidge? Line up as OLB and rush the passer as well as 90% Edge in the league? Or slot corner? You just have to name it with him, I don't know where to begin, he's off the charts.
I even saw him line up as an interior rusher... And I also have yet to see a completion against him (for I would say 50 snaps where he covered. He had one INT). He's the next great LB of this league.

I don't understand the concerns over Calhoun's first step, it's actually one of the fastest I've seen in this class... I do agree that he lacks strength in his hands to push the OT, but he can work on that. Overall, I really liked what I saw from him, and I just started today... I would be thrilled to have him with our 2nd round, he's got everything I'm looking for and can easily transition into an OLB
