I've been a big proponent of Toth for a long time now and based off of most mocks and everything else out there he's projected (like Jay Guillermo) to be a later round pick somewhere around 4-6. If I can wait until the 5th to get him I would call that a great deal. That would be a steal at that point

I would be thrilled if we got Toth in the 4th round.

Currently watching the Senior Bowl, very impressed by Jon Toth, C, Kentucky. Both strong and quick to get to the second level, smart in his placement.

Toth did look good.  What round do you think we could get him?

Thoughts on Curtis Samuel as a raven in the 2nd? I really like him and would love the idea of having a starting caliber RB(or at least a 3DB) who is also a starting caliber wr.

I just don't know if we are creative enough for that or if that fits the identity were supposedly trying to build. I mean if we want a big strong OL and wanna play tough then I think some deception goes a long way, if we want a power run game then having Samuel and juice in the backfield together is enticing, it always appears we wanna run power plays but then BOTH break off routes downfield and catch the ball very well.

I don't think it fits Marty's style of offense but I think Greg roman could have some success with this kind of philosophy

You bring up an interesting point.  I don't feel our coaching is creative enough, especially making adjustments during a game.  If used correctly Samuel could provide some interesting mismatches. Hopefully Greg Roman will help.

I think a 5 yr. deal worth about 42M can get it done with about 20M of it guaranteed and a large signing bonus in the neighborhood of 8-10M. The only reason I reduced the signing bonus is because it is typically amortized over the duration of the contract and I'm assuming that. This way if he is underperforming after 3-4 yrs, then we can release him without too much dead money implications.

The guaranteed money is the key and 20m won't get it done.

  5. Hopefully Correa will find his way onto the field next season. He seems to have the physical skills even though he could gain some strength. His problem appears to be the lack of a good football IQ. He takes himself out of position to make the play.

My dream scenario is snagging one of the top corners in the first (lattimore, jones, wilson, etc.), then King falling to our 2nd round pick. (I am very biased on King because I am a huge Hawkeyes fan) Talk about a boost to our secondary!  Jimmy and first round pick on the outside, Tavon in the slot.  Then, King would either replace Webb (if we cut him, which I am hopeful we can retain him on a more team-friendly deal) or be very quality backup at CB and S.  I know we have other needs, but secondary has been the area that has let this team down the most over the last few years.  I think this is the draft to go hard and address that area.

I certainly agree that Desmond King would be a solid addition for the Ravens. I see him as more of a safety but he does have the versatility to play corner. He would be very helpful in the nickel and dime packages.

If we can get a good trade back in the second round I would be locked in on trading back for engram. I haven't seen a more perfect guy to fill that void i mentioned earlier. He is that reliable security blanket guy like pitta because he has a great feel for splits and soft spots in coverage, and he can make those box out catches like boldin, but the difference is he's bigger and far faster than both of those guy and brings more big play element

What kind of blocker is Engram ?

On trades, don't we still "eat" the bonus that's been paid?  I thought only salary went over to the receiving team.

You are correct. Whatever bonus is still unamortized ( dead money ) still counts against our salary cap.

    O-line needs to be:

    Stanley-Lewis-rookie-Yanda-Wagner

if we want to compete next year.

Wagner needs to be the top priority.

That would be a good start and hopefully we will be able to retain Wagner. I also think it is important we improve our backups on the offensive line since injuries will always occur. Having to rely on Hurst, Jensen or Ducasse is a problem waiting to happen.

I played sports my entire life, but if you tell me i have potential millions of dollars waiting for me as long as i dont get injured on my way to my next job, so be it.  Some of these guys give years to their team taking a pounding and abuse on their body, some of these teams wouldnt even be in these bowl games with out the players, so them taking off one game...teams should understand they have to do whats best for them and their family.  A player has a short pro career, a school is going to be there forever...

I understand completely what you are saying about the money aspect. If you believe money is that important to you don't play in the bowl game. Money isn't that important to everyone but that is a value judgment for each individual to make. Not playing in the bowl game is a case of putting yourself before others which is the definition if selfish.

its literally an exhibition game. its like the pro bowl but a majority of the kids playing these games are either returning to the same team for another season or are never playing another snap of football again. for first round draft picks there is absolutely no shame in looking ahead to your career because you dont want to destroy your future for a meaningless exhibition game.

bowl games literally mean nothing for well established programs, they help build hype for struggling programs if they can put together a solid season and a bowl game win which helps with future recruiting, but for stanford that game means nothing. its a preseason game thats just being played during the playoffs and is backed by tons of media hype, nothing more. it doesnt indicate that hes scared of football that he sits out, its a business decision and frankly a smart one. these guys want to play with their team one last time, football is a sport of pride and tradition, they are making a sacrifice here for theirselves and their future employers(the team who drafts them).

College bowl games are nothing like an exhibition game. It is an honor for a college team to be chosen to play in a bowl game. Football is a team game and a player walking out on his team is a selfish act.

a lot of things went wrong this year, we had a 4 game slide early in the season when we were missing our starting LT, our top CB was out for a good portion of the season, Mosley was out for a while, SSS was out for a while, our QB was coming off of a torn ACL and hadnt hit his stride yet, and we still lost most of those games because of 1 or 2 plays that just didnt go our way or overly aggressive coaching, and we fell JUST SHORT of making the playoffs despite it all. So lets stop trashing everyone for a second and look at our reasons to feel good about 2018...

we finally solved the disaster that was the LT position, this is HUGE moving forward.

we have reason to believe breshad perriman can be a big piece and can realistically take a big leap finally getting an offseason to develop

matt judon looked very promising not just as a pass rusher, but as an all around OLB

we found a young stud at slot corner

we found alex lewis who can start at a solid level at multiple spots and is great depth in case someone gets hurt

kenneth dixon and terrence west are a dangerous 1-2 punch if we can get just a little bit more push up front

flacco will not enter the season in rehab mode

we have high upside guys who werent ready to play this year like correa, henry, kaufusi, and canady.

we held the number 1 defense for most of the season despite having no pass rush.

cj mosley and zach orr may be the best ilb tandem in the league

we have a 3rd round comp coming in and were picking in the middle of each round, we have a chance to find some really good guys this draft and solve a lot of our problems

i prefer to look on the bright side rather than call doom and gloom. we hampered ourselves early on with a bad month, if we win half of those losses which we very realistically could have with just 1 play made(moores drop vs oak, mosleys fumble vs was) then we are in the playoffs right now. this team, with all of its problems, is not as much of a disaster as many are claiming it is. step off the ledge people, winning comes at a cost and we are paying it right now, but we are far from finished.

It is good to see some optimism here. Hopefully we can have a strong off season. It will be very interesting to see what actions the management will take.

It's a shame the Ravens wouldn't be able to get ahead of Indy with their pick since both teams need similar players, but getting ahead of the Saints would be nice. At 15 Barnett would be a real option.

I would be surprised if Barnett was there at 15.

Just one of the plain UGLIEST, uninspired, pride-less, defeated and disenfranchised efforts I've ever seen from our franchise. And the mere fact that it was Steve Smith Sr.'s last NFL game make it UNPRECEDENTEDLY heartless.

We've been coming into games flat while closing out season (Patriots, Eagles and Steelers) and failing to putting together 4 quarters of winning football, but this game....we lacked competitive focus throughout. Breaks my heart.

The Good: We have the building blocks (or more appropriately based on this season "rebuilding blocks") to right the ship, but we need our nastiness back. There's talent, but it's obviously going to take more to get it back to 'Playing Like Ravens' literally.

I am curious who you see as building blocks.

I said running back is not a need, but how many Rookies can truly impact a team immediately.

Doesnt matter Ravens will be drafting around 18-21 Cook will be gone before then anyway..

     I can't dream for Jonathan Allen he's top5  ..

Running back wasn't a need for Dallas. They had a 1,000 yd rusher in McFadden and had already signed Alfred Morris. Zeke has paid off

The difference is that Dallas has a good offensive line and good receivers, we do not.
