I can't believe there are some on other forums saying they wouldn't touch him until the 4th, you're crazy if you think Jones will fall out of the second. In a class loaded with CBs beyond belief he was one of the best, many would even argue the best. The guy is too freaking good to tumble far, some team will happily grab him as a steal in the second. Achilles tears are certainly not irrelevant but in recent history they have been far less devastating than they once were, especially for the younger guys.

Jones will definitely drop in the draft, how far will depend on his recovery time. With so many other good corners in this draft he may drop farther than you think he should.

but the fact is joe is the right qb for the right team.  a team like Cleveland for example. they need a guy like joe in the worstest way.  and we need two number 1s for him.

Do you realize that if the Ravens traded Flacco it would result in a 47 million dollar cap hit?  Do you know what that would do to the team's roster?

Agreed, we have 3 RG on the team now that all can play well. Nembot, Jenson and Urschel. both Jenson and Urschel are also back up Centers. So the Ravens could pick up Elflein the best center in the draft/ college and potentially have the best O-line in the NFL.Could even be better than Dallas if all of them can stay on the field.

The cost is low too! leaves money for a RB and WR

I think relying on Nembot, Jensen or Urschel for next season would be a mistake. Both Jensen and Urschel had the opportunity to claim a starting spot last year and could not do so. Their play was disappointing. Expecting Nembot to step up from the practice squad to the starting lineup is quite a reach. We need better O-line play than these three can provide.

Please, Please release our so called CB Jimmy Smith!!!! Pita is great and does anything we need him to do! Always working hard!

Granted Jimmy Smith gets hurt often but when healthy he plays at a high level. Unfortunately Dennis Pitta will never play at a high level again. He no longer has the speed to get deep, he usually goes down after the first hit and his blocking is horrible. It is time for Pitta to go.

Unless you can do a better job at NFL refereeing you should not complain. Given their enormous rule book it is somewhat amazing they can do as well as they do. Remember the stand in refs? I'll assume you can find evidence for yourself if you didn't witness it. Point is they do not have an easy job and your comment does not address the actual difficulty involved.

Just because a job is difficult does not mean people should not be held accountable for their performance. I do feel referees need more training. They should be full time employees to accommodate thorough training. The NFL has the money to make that happen.

Regardless of the difficulty I do not feel it is acceptable to settle for mediocrity.

Really looking forward to John's book. Sounds like he will have some very interesting insights from multigenerational owners who have seen this game evolve from an almost XFL-like afterthought to the college game into the juggernaut it is today.

Agree with all of John's premises to improve the game. One area contributing to injuries, I believe, is actually the reduction in preparation time and practice time (including contact drills) hammered out by the collective bargaining agreement. Yes, players are getting bigger and faster, but they are less prepared for full-speed game situations now than ever before. The result is sloppy play, poor technique, and a lack of preparedness for the violence that is inherent in the game.

Have the draft in March, and get the players in with their teams for training and practice more frequently prior to the season. The result will be a higher quality product and fewer injuries.

Your thoughts about the reduction in preparation time and practice time are incredibly valid. The fundamentals of blocking and tackling are lacking as a result of the current CBA.  Hopefully the next CBA will allow the players to do more to perfect their craft.

I don't see that... the only thing I see is he starts moving at the snap, when ideally your FS is moving before the snap.

He makes plays in run support fairly often too, not Jamal Adams level by a long shot but he does well at being the safety net on run plays

Jamal Adams seems to be the premier safety in this draft. We would be incredibly lucky if he were available at the 16th pick.

What is your opinion of Marcus Williams ?  I saw some impressive video of him, even though he appears to be slender of build.

  8. One thing I feel would speed up the game is getting competent referees. There is no need for the excessive number of conferences for the referees to discuss a call. We need quality referees to make quick calls and move on.

I see no need for the referee to go under the hood to review  a challenged call, let the league office make the call. I also think referees don't make calls and rely on replay to correct their errors, they need to make the call.

I agree player safety is important but the league has gone too far with personal foul penalties, football is a contact sport and players are well compensated for the risks they take.

Yeah, I don't think the Ravens would touch Cook with a ten foot pole.

There's an underrated, small school guy that could be a perfect fit as a receiving back for the Ravens, Tarik Cohen, from North Carolina A&T. He's undersized so longevity could be a concern. That aside he has amazing vision, patience, great burst, the ability to walk the tightrope along the sideline for extra yards, and his ability to change directions on a dime is unreal. He's like a young Darren Sproles.

Tarik Cohen certainly looked impressive. Does he return punts and kickoffs ?

Rogers is just one of those guys who won't be denied the reception. He is big and tough as nails, he plays loose and limber and moves very well, doesn't let his weight carry him too far and controls all his movements, he times his jumps well, boxes out well, he looks like he's got some verticals too as seen on his back shoulder fades, vice grip hands, quality routes for a man who plays so big and strong, and he is a bully all around.

Hes the kind of guy that could really bring some character to our wr corps by being the big bully nobody wants to mess with and making those tough tight catches.

I just watched some video of Rogers and I must say he is very impressive. He will win more than his share of 50-50 balls. He seems very adept at finding the soft spots in a zone defense and has great hands. The only negative I noticed is that he is not a burner but he would be a great possession receiver and a good target in the red zone.

I know he is not draft eligible this year but QB Sam Darnold impressed me as well.

I think that's what it will take and someone will do it because there are 3 teams that viably could do it especially given how weak this qb draft class is - people citing brock osweiler as a reason not to sign him is also ridiculous because he'll have a year left on the rookie contract - essentially a one year prove it deal - are you really telling me that jimmy g isn't worth the twelfth pick when some of the qbs in this class are currently being mocked at the 2nd and 3rd pick etc

The twelfth pick for a one year rental is a steep price. Drafting a rookie quarterback early in round one gives you four years on a rookie contract with a fifth option.

Rather just draft a young guy and stick him in there opposite Mosley for now.

Doesn't sound like a good use of money to me.

For me, if I'm a fan, the only thing I want to see from this defense this year is a big time youth movement. I honestly can't name a single position on the defense where I'd live to see us bring in a veteran player to compete at. Not one.

Zero interest in veteran pass rushers, zero interest in veteran linebackers, zero interest in veteran lineman, only a slight interest in a veteran corner, and absolutely zero interest in a veteran safety.

A youth movement would be great, especially if we draft well. With as many holes as we have to fill we need to rely on veteran free agents too unless you want to completely rebuild and suffer through a couple of losing seasons.

I dont think you can put Maxx William in the same field as Timmy Jernigan.

Timmy has been at the very least has starter material capability.  Every once in a while he is unstoppable.   Timmy has worked through pain and know how to keep himself on field.

Maxx has been a solid disappointment.  He never built a time to build his frame and had the work ethic to get better @offseason.   One small nick of ding on his thigh and he is gone for the whole season.   He is going to the wrong end of the his career.

I have to agree that Maxx Williams has been a disappointment after a promising rookie season,  mostly due to injury. Timmy Jernigan on the other hand is much more of a disappointment to me. Jernigan flashes tremendous ability at times then disappears for long stretches and his stupid personal foul penalties are unforgivable.

  14. I would be very happy with this as our draft.  Getting two defensive backs at the top of our draft would be a big help next year , especially Jones and King. I would be surprised to see Worley and Stewart drop that far but stranger things have happened.
