I hope you are right. I would like to see Tucker as our kicker long term.

But lets say Stanley started and Monroe was on the bench, Stanley goes down at least we have someone to step in for the time being. Cutting someone because they might get injured when they are apparently healthy over depth is just a little confusing to me.
I must of missed where it said how much cap we gained...
We will save 6,500,000 this year against the salary cap, that being his 2016 salary. We will still have 4,400,000 in dead money carrying over to 2017. It will be interesting to see what we do with the 6,500,000 we saved.

The Ravens are paying him a great salary and that money would be wasted if he's healthy and on the bench. They need to get as much out of him as possible considering what they're paying him.
I see Stanley as the better talent, but training camp will decide who should play. Talent not salary should be the determining factor imo. I want the best players on the field.
1 hour ago, 757RavensFan said:That's bad business. Economics 101 is to make a ROI. They're paying Monroe too much to be a "healthy" backup.
A healthy Monroe > A healthy Stanley
If you are talking ROI you need to look at the big picture, that being total salary expenditures and the return on that investment. Doing so dictates you start the players that give you best chance to win. If you are saying it would be better to get rid of Monroe and use the salary cap savings for a better ROI I can understand that.
2 hours ago, 757RavensFan said:Exactly, a healthy Monroe and Wagner, start over Stanley. If both are healthy I see it like this:
Monroe, Stanley, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner.
Not bad IMO!
I think Monroe is best suited for a backup role if he is on the team. He is a solid tackle but I expect Stanley to be better than that. My preferred line would be Stanley, Jensen, Urschel, Yanda and Wagner.

I just hope maxx is the one to win, because I think he's a top 3 talent at TE who needs the game reps before he's ready to produce at that level. Crockett has been injured often in his 2 years so Watson could be many things for us, veteran presence, top notch mentor(helping with the conditioning and fitness changes were bringing and taking maxx under his wing), insurance policy for a starting quality guy in case of injury, and a great 2nd/3rd option in a TE heavy offense.
Big picture Watson was a good signing, I just hope our young guys don't get their growth stunted
Maxx should progress in his second year, he had a solid rookie season. Gilmore and Watson are both talented and will provide versatility for us at the TE position. I see Waller being our 4th TE because of his contributions on special teams. Sadly I don't see Pitta being able to play in the regular season.

I would think intelligent franchises put their best players on the field. If Stanley earns the LT job in training camp it should be his.

Maybe they want to see Stanley in action during minicamps. I think Monroe is gone at some point, though. Too much baggage. It's not even a money thing with him, to me at least.
Is there any advantage to cutting him now as opposed to the end training camp ?
1 hour ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Goff could be one of those guys who doesn't need wrs to succeed. Flacco is smart, performs well in the clutch, moves well in the pocket for the most part, and can zip the ball with serious velocity to complete passes most qbs couldn't, Goff does all this too, and just like Flacco he needs to have more consistent mechanics to cut down on errant throws but with a balanced offense he should be able to really deliver when called upon. I think the rams will slowly progress into a juggernaut now that they have a qb, all it takes at this point is one solid wr to really get them going, a franchise qb, elite rb, and too shelf defense is always a winning formula. The ravens have been in limbo for a few years and have been far from a complete roster but still being relatively competitive, we need to round out the team before making a big splash. Until we address the future of our safeties, cbs, and pass rush(which I think still needs work since dumersizzle is on it way out) then we can't afford such moves.
I am anxious to see if Goff can handle the mental aspect of the pro game. Can he read defenses ? Can he perform well in the face of a strong pass rush ? It will be interesting to see how he develops.

its all about who has the best team and not who has the best group of individuals.
Well said !

What is your definition of elite ?
4 minutes ago, Moderator 3 said:Not yet, though I have begged for a tool that allows us to reach out and choke a poster.
I see you shut down a thread. May I ask why ? Is that your job to do so ? Thanks.
Why Boldin ? I feel we have at least 7 receivers already on our roster who fit our needs better than Boldin.
I would hope the Ravens organization would retire number 19 permanently. Even though the game has changed drastically since Johnny Unitas played he is still one the greatest players to ever play the game. Unitas is a major part of Baltimore football history.
1 hour ago, JoeyFlex5 said:He was average for years, disappeared from games Way too often, was way overpaid, put together a really good 4 game stretch after 4 seasons of mediocrity, then suddenly the fan base thinks the team is doomed because we traded him.
Not saying boldin was bad and I was a fan of his, but the fan base puts him on way too high of a pedestal. I think He was a downgrade from Derrick mason and I think Steve Smith was an upgrade.
I agree with you that Derrick performed better than Boldin for the Ravens. Boldin did contribute many big plays for us.
9 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:I'm pleased to see the lack of boldin on here. Are fans finally finished overrating him?
Why do you think Boldin is overrated?
1. Ray
2. J.O.
3. Reed
4. Suggs
5. Yanda
6. Ngata
7. McAlister
8. Jamal
9. Flacco
10. Heap
Just missed the cut : Derrick Mason and Jarret Johnson
IMO there is only one relevant thought about Tunsil at this point. That being he is not a Raven and our team is just fine without him.
I would have to say Stanley because he will give Joe peace of mind. The young pass rushers will be a big help. Keep an eye on Willie Henry, he will be solid in our DL rotation.

No Donny Brady on your list?
The more tape I see of Kaufusi the more I like him. He is a playmaker with a non-stop motor. For those of you who may be old school, he reminds me of Ted Hendricks who played for the Baltimore Colts and the Oakland Raiders.

- FS Lewis.
- CB Arrington
- DE Urban
Do you guys have a site where I can find that info. some battle won't be won on the field but on the papers. $$$ is everything in todays NFL if you can find a young player able to give close to what the vet will give, gotta cut some money.
You should check overthecap.com .
Hopefully some of the younger players are ready to contribute so we can trade some the older vets such as Dumervil, Monroe and Forsett. We could pick up some draft picks for next year and free up some cap room.

Dixon is a good all purpose back, a fantastic value for a fourth round pick. Hardcore Henry is an excellent addition to our DL rotation.

We saved $ 6.5m, the dead money ( unamortized bonus ) is there as soon as his contract was signed. What we save is his 2016 salary. $ 6.5m is too much to pay for a backup OT who is an injury risk.
