  1. The last two years we've been more prone to injury than any other team. Are we insisting that's just a coincidence? Aging roster, really bad luck, etc.? I have trouble believing that. Also, the 37 year old couldn't do it. He was on the IR before the season ended.
  2. Except this isn't the thread for his injury. This is about all the injuries, mostly from the past couple of years. And then the new trend that seems to be starting. Or are you thinking that's all just randomly bad luck and had nothing to do with the team? We just added the conditioning training this year on a whim?
  3. " The injury apparently occurred after Perriman caught a pass on a back shoulder fade during one of the drills, went down without any contact and continued to practice. On Friday, he told the Ravens the knee was a little sore." -Don Markus, Baltimore Sun. I'm surprised, I thought it would have been a sharp twist or turn, but it doesn't sound like it.
  4. I don't have an alternative. But we lost more starters last year than any other team, and I think the year before that. So we are doing something different than normal. Maybe, just maybe, going 100% every time is a bad idea. Especially considering how many of these injuries weren't game related. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm saying it's something worth considering.
  5. I'm starting to wonder if it's an issue with the coaching stafff. Maybe it's the drills, maybe it's the pressure of making everyone compete for their job, I don't know. But after so many injuries each and every year, the common denominator here isn't the players.
  6. I'm just here for the pic of Tucker!
  7. It's not a HUGE need considering how often we ran our nickel package last year. This is the guy who would probably come out for the extra CB. I haven't seen talk of a 4-3 anywhere but here (though it sure seems like we drafted for it!). So I'm not sure if we're a 3-4 team converting to 4-3, or if we're a nickel team that runs 3-4 against the rush. Or maybe there isn't really a difference.
  8. I know we have a very good record after the third round, that's one thing I really like about our front office. (It also makes me wonder why we get so uptight about the first three, but anyway). But I know it's not supposed to go that way. The later the round, the less likely the prospect in general. 6 or 7 post-3rd guys in one year would be high, even for us. But that's partly because nobody has had that many 4th round picks before. So that's intriguing to me. Even if we've come to expect it, it's different than the rest of the world, and downright unique this year.
  9. I think it might be the other way around. He won't be quite the run defender Upshaw was, but his pass rush could soon be comparable to McPhee.
  10. Wait... are you guys talking about the same guy? I'm pretty sure I know who Regz is talking about. It's weird we can't say his name because there's no way he's getting drafted in this league!
  11. Well, there's a lot of overlap with your own post. But I'm excited to see which of the late draft picks catch on. I know anyone drafted after the 3rd round isn't really expected to start, or even make the roster. But guys like Moore, Young, Judon, Ochi, Reynolds, Henry, and Dixon make me think we break that mold. This was either an incredible draft, or we're about to see a lot of heartbreak.
  12. See? It's for the good of humanity. Though now I wonder if I can find a pic of all my defenders doing something bad to Brady/Edelman.
  13. I was going to use the one vs. the Ravens. I guess you drew the short straw.
  14. New team name? I'm thinking new team name.
  15. My linebackers are pretty good in coverage (and there's probably worse strong safeties than Burnett). And like I said, my CBs can press to disrupt the timing. A quality nickel and one more pass rusher on my line will seal the deal. But yeah, I think I can get away with Cover 1. Basically it's a race to see if I can break up the play before multiple targets get to Stewart.
  16. The math guru isn't terribly athletic, but knows all about levers and torque. Sounds about right.
  17. I think in any other fan base, Stewart would have been long gone by now. That is exactly my goal with Maxwell and Stewart, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Earl Thomas is obviously a better safety than Stewart, I'm not trying to say they're equals. But I do think Stewart can handle a Cover 1, a Robber 1 so Burnett can run free, and a press Cover 3. So I took the two best press CBs I could find. I do NOT have a Legion of Boom, more like a Squad of Pop. But I'm trying to mimic that design. "Baby Boomers" if you will. But that's how I intend to get Maxwell back up to his Seattle performance. I think Miami is going to use him the same way I am. Press in Cover 1 and let Reshad Jones roam freely (I wanted Jones, I'm fine with Burnett). So I looked past last year to guesstimate his trajectory.
  18. Thanks. Between his season here, and then that timely pick against us in the playoffs, I was expecting a few negs. But we're on the same page: this wasn't the best situation for him. His work in Denver is closer to his true level. (I used the same logic with Byron Maxwell if anyone is curious).
  19. I definitely agree with that. And with Luck, it makes sense to build that much edge protection first.
  20. So that's a yes, then. Fair enough. For all the high picks I would have looked for a little more athleticism. But it sounds like you're executing your plan. That's what really matters.
  21. Luck, yes. Miller not so much. Seems like you really hate pull blocking.
  22. Massie will be fine for a league like this. Even if he doesn't build on the improvements he made last year, I can still put a veteran RG next to him to help with pass blocking. He'll definitely be a big asset for my run blocking. I think he's a good fit for a team with Cam Newton; he's got more upside than Mike Remmers, Cam's actual right tackle.
  23. With the 387th pick, the Lumberjacks select.... Bobby "You Can't Sleep Here" Massie, Right Tackle
  24. With the 382nd pick, the Lumberjacks select..... Darian Stewart, FS
  25. Gilchrist was going to be my next pick. I guess I should have taken him last round. Not going to lie, that one hurts.
