  1. I don't think we'll have the picks to spend on a spot like RB where we have so many guys already. Oh, wait.....
  2. We were talking about him this morning, yes? Glad I was wrong and he's still on the board. Especially since we missed Cravens. Actually, if I had a complaint about tonight.... it really seemed like our plan was to trade back into the 2nd round. Or at least the third. It wasn't entirely up to us; it takes two to tango. But we failed to execute. Might not have been the best plan afterall. But then people would complain about us not trying.
  3. I'm just mind-boggled about how many people we put on Injured Reserves the past two years, how we've never gotten to see Perriman in a real game yet, and people insisted we draft a guy with one knee. I just.... no. There's a couple of other hybrid guys still available: Killebrew, Scooby, Schobert to a degree. I wonder if people will be just as angry when we get one of them.
  4. He can also move around if we have 19 guys on the injured reserve again. I think we wanted this guy. Maybe not more than Dodd, but certainly more than Spence. I think we already know how we're going to use him, and I think we're not going to be worried about it. We got faster, we got some more coverage, we got an edge rusher. I'm pretty happy to build the future around him, Mosley and ZDS at linebacker. I mentioned him this morning in another thread. After the first round he seemed like a guy who would be on our radar. So yeah, I'm very pleased. But I guess everyone here wanted Ragland.
  5. Grrr. I'm not believing we didn't have enough ammo.
  6. Killebrew could be a guy like that, too.
  7. Better than Bullard or Calhoun???? Honest question, I haven't looked into this guy.

  9. Ugh. I would have liked another pick in the 2nd. Maybe too many guys fell to find a trade partner. Hopefully we can do it in the third.
  10. We got someone ranked low forties on their board. Take out the guys with off-field issues and major injuries (19 guys on the IR last year), and DeCosta isn't wrong. Remember, our board tends to look a lot different.
  11. Correa covers more ground. Pure pass rusher is Spence. Correa can do that, he can drop back in coverage (though needs some work). And he can get back into the play if it goes the other direction. More uses in all three downs. But you're assuming we were ever in on Spence. I'm not certain we were.
  12. I think you're wrong. I think he steps right into Upshaw's spot, and gives us that sideline-to-sideline speed everyone was clamoring for. I think he and Za'Darius make for a very promising duo post-Suggs/Doom. I really like this pick. If we had Spence downgraded even a little for drama, then Correa would have been right behind Dodd on our board.
  13. Eric Weddle is NOT instant coffee? What?!?!
  14. I really think this was intentional. Good speed, clean record, edge rusher who can go side to side.
  15. Didn't we just talk about this? I'm pumped.
  16. NOBODY on here wanted Ragland. And now we're holding it against Ozzie that we didn't get him? I do not get it.
  17. That explains so much. Thank you.
  18. It's funny. All three of those guys could be an upgrade over the person they replace (Canty or Smith).
  19. I agree, I just happen to like Cravens in the same role a little bit more. That could have been Myles Jack if he still had both knees. The thing is, I'm having a hard time finding anyone else like those guys. Maybe it's the way sites have them listed (weak side LBs being in the same position as pass rushers, but totally different in our 3-4). So the position seems deep to me, yes. But those fits seem scarce. Maybe we go with a guy like Ragland or Matakevich instead. But I'm hoping for a coverage-oriented hybrid with good speed. That may be asking too much.
  20. I think he goes in the back of the second, though. Fast players left the board early last night, on offense and defense. I think the tweeners and hybrid players have extra value this year for their speed alone. We've already seen two strong safeties go off the board before anyone expected. I think Killebrew has exactly the skill set that moves him up at least a round.
  21. I think our front office stayed confident during the QB hype a week or two ago. We simply stuck to our guns while the experts over-reacted. It's looking like Dodd, Spence, or Alexander will get to us in the 2nd round. I also think Cravens would be a great fit for us; not sure if the front office feels the same way, especially with Ragland right there. On the other hand, we just signed Wallace and Watson. Our running backs could use some blocking. Flacco will probably start the season, but let's not get the guy killed. The same part of my brain that thinks red paint makes cars go faster wants us to grab Whitehair to pair with Stanley. We'll improve the defense by giving them big leads and plenty of time on the sideline.
  22. This conversation made me realize how concerned I am about middle linebacker. No wonder I like Ragland too much, Cravens too. But I don't think we take either in the second.
  23. Our backup center is some kind of math genius. Our 35 year old TE won the Walter Payton award. Our sideline wasn't exactly barbaric to begin with.
  24. I think DE, ILB, and OLB need instant coffee because of the roster holes (Canty, Smith, Upshaw-but-really-McPhee). Technically CB would start the season as a backup to Smith, Wright, and whoever is healthy that week. So I'm somewhat okay bumping that down to fourth and taking a prospect/ST guy. Cyrus comes to mind. So I'm counting on that high fourth round pick to grab a starter. Defensive Line seems like the most likely because of the depth there, but maybe a tweener like Schobert or Ochi at OLB. I know that's a high-risk move. We're not exactly going to get a pro-bowler there. But we do tend to get some value out of our late picks. So I'm hoping for a role player at least. So I guess the real difference is I'm rolling the dice with one starter anyway. So I'm keeping the extra 4th round picks to fill in with depth and prospects, especially in the secondary.
  25. I think he might have been as confused as we were. I'm okay waiting a few weeks for him to get settled a little more, and less caught up in the moment.
