James Ihedigbo and Ricky Williams, gotta love Ricky, man.

Ihedigbo, man I wanted us to re-sign him we could have really used him the past two years. I knew Elam was going to bust after his first season.

And Nakamura, that guy was a stud in camp and not so much on gameday, I never liked Zibby.

Great analysis. When he pins his ears back you see a good first step and he gets to the corner at a very impressive rate for someone as huge and strong as him. He's no Vic Beasley but he is more comparable to a well rounded OLB like suggs or James Harrison.

I like that lawson brings pass rush in a variety of ways and doesn't just rely on a bull rush or the bend, and i like that he visibly did not pin his ears back and still did everything at a very high rate. He is nearly everything you look for in a pro 34OLB

I think his workouts show what he is capable of, he kind of reminds me of Upshaw but he timed like Justin Houston so that could be his ceiling. However I still like Kevin Dodds tape better he reminds me of Jared Allen.

They're right--his [Lawson] first step is slow. I don't care if he runs a 4.1 40 yard dash but he is not fast off the ball. And having a few extra steps helps but you don't want your edge defender to be like that for this team since we often run a hybrid scheme that calls for our 3-4 OLBs to play 4-3 DE and vice versa. We often do this to disguise the formation. Furthermore, you don't want to rely on a guy to have to get a few steps to apply pressure. That just doesn't work very well in the NFL.

Bosa isn't slow at all. He has plenty of explosion and he's plenty quick.

He has a 1.64 split so I wouldn't say he has a slow get off, maybe just inconsistent or he has different responsibilities. His focus could have been on setting the edge and using that nasty spin move to rush.

Nope, he's a huge risk that high because of his character/substance issues. Still the best 3-4 OLB prospect in the draft but the juice isn't worth the squeeze if he's going to be acting like a knucklehead. He's too risky for us.

He has good traits and a following here but it should be fairly obvious he isn't the 6th best player in the draft, unless they think he's going to fall to us in the 2nd or we trade up to get him.

Disagree about the bench press. The reps show endurance of constantly holding up against the O-linemen for Defensive players and also shows strength at sustained levels. How can it be bad? I just don’t get your logic. The 40 on the other hand is important because it shows short burst speed (10 yd burst) as well. Also, the other events like the broad jump and the vertical show off an athlete’s explosion from a still position. That is critical as well. As for the drills, they’re clearly important.

Finally, a lot of brain trust goes into the combine. When I say brain trust, I mean really knowledgeable football braintrust. So, I’m very comfortable with the events at the combine.

I think the only thing the bench press shows is weight room dedication.

Then we didn't see the same, definitely. He was the best OS defender his sophomore year and very dominant vs lesser competition while at Eastern Kentucky. I get it, you don't rate him high but everything seen so far points at him as the best pure edge rusher in this class.

We can respectfully disagree as long as you don't put words in my mouth again. I don't mince words, these are my observations and I try to be objective and not impose them.

U can say the same thing about his 40 time and his game speed.

I wasnt impressed by his game speed, he was better than his level of competition but not by much. I think he's a touch more fluid than his peers, either that or they're all very stiff.

Maybe. Suggs isn't just any player. But how can you guarantee that?

I'm convinced by what I've seen. The original point was that Spence isn't stout at the point and doesnt have ideal athleticism, the counter argument is that he benched more than Suggs, I say it's a poor indication of play strength.

Agreed. Too robotic in his movement, wasnt as fluid as id like to see. Seems like a guy who needs yo play on the line. I dont trust him in space

He's a far better pass rusher than edge setters like JJ and Upshaw

Very impressive. Haven't watched any tape on him, might have to take a look.

He's pretty bad, thats why he's not a big name. But he might have a better weight to speed ratio than Clowney.
