Z Smith isn't what this board thought he was, his sacks last season were coverage sacks. He has some size but he's not the leverage monster that McPhee is, not even close.

This board always undervalues FA market value, we're like Lakers fans thinking we can sign everyone for peanuts.
The best ability is availability.
I've seen Jeffreys FA market value put at around 5 years $55-60M, not exactly cheap but a bargain if he can stay healthy.

Alshon Wallace and perriman with Watson and Dennis inside unfortunately we won't have the money to sign both of them
I've seen his market value predicted at the 5 year $55-60M mark, the suspension drops him a bit but teams will always overpay for a top tier talent even if he has durability and off the field issues.
If we can draft/build a monster oline and pass rush then that addresses the majority of our problems, a strong ground game helps Flacco, a strong pass rush helps our secondary and we clear cap space for the type of big money marquee players that are generally unavailable to us.

He's a FA and the Cowboys have La'el Collins, so I can't see them being willing to pay him. The fact that he's been a backup is crazy considering the lack of OL talent around the league.
He's good but a little injury prone, Zeitler is another option but I think he's going to be overpaid.
What about Shanahan as HC?
Just kidding.

Oh yes the lowest form of wit, it's not so obvious when you look at some of the questionable opinions in this board. Anyway Simon is a better player than when he left, and could be an affordable option on the verge of a breakout season.
6 minutes ago, redlobster said:Lmao John Simon? So he could get cut and go to the practice squad again? The team has a problem actually developing rookies
He's not a rookie or practice squad eligible. He's in his second season with the Texans.

These guys are the right age and some will miss out on the big money rush, we need the right right players for the right price. Perry is a handful but personally I'd rather have a power rusher like Sheard if the sack totals are similar.
36 minutes ago, Deflated Football said:Demaryius Thomas has the dropsies on occasion as well so I guess he shouldn't be on the field either, huh?
Perriman drops passes, thats an observation. I'm not predicting his future.
Looking at whos currently available heres who I would target:
TE: Jack Doyle
OL: Larry Warford
Edge rush: Jabaal Sheard, Nick Perry, Melvin Ingram, John Simon
I recently saw Rogue One and Moana, both very good.
2-3 years from now I hope we've rebuilt a strong oline so whoever is in the backfield can thrive. As for West or Dixon? theyre not exactly studs but theyre capable.

Well hes not taking it anywhere when he drops it.

An offense that can score more than 30 points.
24 minutes ago, Deflated Football said:Or Marty just doesn't know how to use him because he's clueless.
He isn't on the field dropping passes.
4 minutes ago, rmw10 said:Now that we're officially out of playoff contention, I'd be shocked if Perriman doesn't start and play a large majority of the snaps this week. Time to get him some exposure and see what he can do with some consistent playing time.
I hope so, give him the trial by fire. At the very least he'll get some experience.
It's not looking good for his third season. Hopefully he turns it around and becomes the next Julio Jones... I can dream can't I?
Just now, RaineV1 said:Yeah. The players lost faith in him, and seemed like they wouldn't even fight to save his job. When that happens, the coach is done. I liked Billick, and he did a lot to turn a franchise (counting the late, original Browns) that was a joke into a contender, but it was time to move on.
How many times do we miss the playoffs before they turn on Harbaugh? if our coaching wasn't so inept a few of those 5 close losses would have swung our way.
1 hour ago, letitgosometimes said:Basically a "No Touch Ben day" in Pittsburgh; result was unfortunately predictable. Overall the Ravens' chemistry was there, but too much time for Ben in the end.
It's kinda pointless having a defense that can hold high powered teams like the Pats and Steelers to 30 points when we can't score more than 30 points.
The NFL doesnt need to make us look bad because the Steelers already made us look bad.
25 minutes ago, RedFire said:
I expect Marvin and or Rex to be let go at the end of the season. If Billick can come back....we can probably get one of those two guys backs as DC.
No to either, they would both leave when another HC opportunity presents itself. Bring in offensive and defensive minds who understand what is happening and can make adjustments.
1 hour ago, Static said:2 years removed from the playoffs.
sigh
You make it sound like we played like the Browns or 49ers, we weren't great but we were competitive, 5 of our 7 losses were close and we never got blown out. If we had coaches who knew what they were doing some of those boneheaded games could have gone our way.

To be fair he's carried a nagging ankle injury through the season but theres still nothing to suggest he can be a disruptive rusher.
