I think Lamp is an All Pro type guard, somewhere between Justin Pugh and Zach Martin. Feeney has potential but there are real maulers in the draft with pro style experience like Dion Dawkins, I'm not sold on him either he but he has some KO in him.
I said all along we were going to have a downgraded ground game without KO. We need upgrades at guard and center, Yanda is 33 this year and might have a year or two left before he really starts to break down.
Forrest Lamp with our first?
What an awful day. All the best.
We can have both if we keep building our trenches, our oline is on the verge of needing a rebuild and we have no pass rush.
Is Orrs neck major?
17 minutes ago, Jonah DeVito said:Why are you quoting me and not the several people in love with him. Who would you suggest we sign?
If we want someone who will be an obvious #1 over Wallace then it's probably either Britt or Pryor, it would be pricey and come with some risk.
9 minutes ago, hereweare said:Not sure I get the Crabtree comparison,.he was far more productive in SF than Britt ever has been until this year. What do you think garçon would get in FA? And I guess I need to see some more of Britt after hearing this. I'd admit I was surprised to see his 3rd down catches stat
1000 yards, 75+ catches and 50 first downs is low production?
If garçon was brought in it wouldn't be to have 40 catches.
Garcon isn't an obvious #1 upgrade over Wallace who has similar stats but is a big play threat, but there are things to like such as durability and his route tree which compliments the go routes of Wallace and Perriman.
2 minutes ago, Jonah DeVito said:Don't get me wrong I'd like to see Garcon here. I just think Britt's potential impact is being underestimated.
How does Garcon fit here? he would go from being a low production starter to 40 receptions at #2 or slot.
34 minutes ago, Ravensfan23 said:What team is that? He's only played for the Titans and Rams. He had terrible knee injuries in Ten that basically made him a shell of himself and that's why they didn't resign him after his rookie year.
Then he signed a 1yr prove deal with the Rams where he had a bounce back season and got a 2yr extension with the Rams. Right now he's the only bright spot at WR for a terrible Rams offense and they want to resign him but he'd be foolish not to test the market.
Furthermore Britt has assumed a leadership role with a young Rams team and hasn't had one issue. He had a rough patch in Ten dealing with the major injuries but since than nothing.
Correction, second team. The point is you have to ask why they would let someone with his skillset and talent hit free agency.
6 hours ago, Moderator 3 said:Myth. We consistently won TOP this year.
We're 22nd in the league in first downs.
Kenny Britt has talent, but he's always had question marks about his maturity and work ethic. It says a lot when your third team declines to offer an extension.
1 minute ago, codizzle said:So garçon is gonna be the player everyone falls in love with on the board this offseason?
Well he's already 30 so he fits the Ravens criteria.
5 minutes ago, Ravens419 said:I agree I wish more then anything we could've got him a ring
He'll have a nice new Gold Jacket in 5 or so years.
I'll miss SSS, hes a fearless player and always lifts the team when our offense needed someone to follow.
As for Jeffrey, well he is a playmaker and looks to command a 5 year $55-60M range contract, but he's also injury prone and recently served a suspension for being a drug cheat so you have to consider those things as well.
12 minutes ago, mmcclend said:This is sooooo true. And it looks like we rarely "pinned our ears back" this season. On pass plays we'd stalemate the OL like it was a run play. This is why we saw so many qbs have 5-6-7 seconds to throw. How do you win like that?
A lot of it is guys getting worn down, constant 3 and outs don't help but there are some guys who are obviously running on fumes and not being substituted. We need to work on that too (and probably won't).
18 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Ehh. Still had a fair amount of dropped passes and no separation. Both of those guys do those things better than anyone on the roster.
I'd have to see how our dropped pass rate compares to other high volume passers but historically he has better seasons with less attempts. If we can get the ground game rolling along it will helps him and keep our defense fresh.
13 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:But you can take better players. We should've taken Shepard or Thomas in the 2nd, I won't say we should've taken Byron Jones over bp because I think perriman can be special, but our secondary would be looking much better and honestly we probably beat the Steelers with Byron Jones back there.
Its all a crapshoot, I know this as well as anyone, I mean Arthur Brown barely even played a down and he was a sure fire safe pick. But it comes down to not overthinking yourself and just taking the right guys. We haven't done That very much. Stanley and Mosley were steps in the right direction but eventually you gotta make a splash at a skill position that you desperately need.
I wouldn't argue with Shepard or Thomas but they wouldn't have made the same impact here, we're talking Perriman/Aiken numbers. Flacco had a down year (presumably because of his injury) but even when he heated up he simply doesn't function well without a strong ground game, if we had Julio Jones out there you'd think he aged 10 years.
3 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Ahh I gotcha. That makes sense and I'd totally agree. I've always said that missing on oher and kindle is still haunting us. We JUST addressed LT 7 years after drafting oher, and 5 years after drafting kindle we have yet to find a pass rusher and dumervil is taking a big chunk of cap space. This led to us taking Upshaw as well.
Totally whiffed top picks multiple times in a 5 season span is killer and has a huge trickle down effect. We didn't feel the sting from the 2010 draft really until last year, we felt the sting from 2013 the next season against the pats, and we will feel it again when weddle and Webb either leave or decline.
I think the ravens can still compete but in a tight window. Were dangerously close to entering win-now 2015 Broncos mode. We have no answers in sight for suggs, weddle, doom, sss, yanda, and Webb and all but 1 of them could be fine by 2018. We have no shot in hell at replacing that core entirely. I think it's about that time that we break the bank to try to squeeze out one run, we have a qb who clearly can do it and our roster overall is in real danger of crumbling, it won't happen this year, but very soon our roster is gonna be ugly.
We can't control every aspect of the draft or if/how players will develop, we've got to be able to make adjustments and roll with punches. I hate talking about the Patriots but they have multiple draft failures too but the difference is they know how to adjust and adapt, they can trade marquee players at will and still win games.
9 minutes ago, GrimCoconut said:Yep 100% agreed. I love Garçon as a fit here and I think he's the perfect addition and hope he's the one we get. He's reliable and gets YAC and is high profile enough to be effective but also low profile enough to be cheaper than others. I've warmed up to keeping Wagner because it'll mean we can keep our OL intact and that could be huge for continuity and I'd even suggest keeping Yanda at LG and move Lewis to RG but I'll take whatever I can get. I'd also be fine if we even moved Yanda to center, which may not be likely and I know Zuttah improved but I just don't want to see him anymore. He still was regularly getting pushed back even late in the year and I'm worried he may be done or close to the end. And yeah, we need to aggressively move up and snipe guys from other teams like they've done us lately. Sitting on our hands and taking Correas, Codys, and others have hurt this team. Who wants Harrison Smith over Upshaw in a re-do? Lol. Moving up in 2013 would've been ideal since there were only so many quality guys anyway.
I think if Lewis is starting on the inside again then it's an F for this offseason, the kid I has talent just not for the interior. Our realistic FA and draft options aren't as good as they were last year but theres some talent available that at least fit better than Zuttuh and Lewis.
1 hour ago, Static said:Nice try but there was no coverage at all last year
I don't think you understand what coverage sacks are.
46 minutes ago, RaineV1 said:Even thought I'm not a fan of Pees, I won't try to pin the lack of pressure on him. Jernigan is up and down, and our edge guys just could not consistently win one on one battles.
I like Jernigan but his consistency is affected by injuries, he's always banged up and thats not something that will improve with age.
7 minutes ago, nextgen_RavensFan said:I am not sure why everyone is so high on bringing rex back. It would in no way bring back the defense he had in his tenure here. Too many players with very different skill sets have changed. Ral Lewis was a once in a lifetime guy, Ed Reed played by his own rules and could have cared less what Ryan said. Our Linemen do not even have the same agility and size. Rex was a success due to the players just like Brian was. The team won despite those 2 "coach's".
That defense could adjust to cover each others weaknesses, this defense barely knows their own roles let alone cover up others weaknesses.
I think like the original poster had mentioned, we need to get rid of the ones who cannot stay healthy firstly, Keep the defense full throttle the entire 60 minutes and not play our prevent and bring back a heavy hitter like Pollard so if the passing game cannot be stopped at least the middle of the field will be a scary place to roam..
On offense we need to either pick a run first or a pass heavy offense then build a decent line to play to which ever strategy we choose (hopefully run first). That way we eliminate relying on Joe so much and let him just become a manager as he is not a game changing QB.
All respect to what he did for us I definitely dont want the Rex circus back in town.
Oline and pass rush, in that order. Those two things will benefit our receivers and DBs going forward until we can find those pieces.
26 minutes ago, allblackraven said:Yep. For the most part we have no depth whatsoever. Is it on scouting/drafting or on coaches/development? Or both?
Harbaugh has a habit of being too loyal to players and coaches who can't cut it, either that or he's a poor judge of talent.
18 minutes ago, PurpleCity5 said:I don't recall Gilmore having any injuries during camp, Williams did came back in the season and did absolutely nothing. Waller a had his suspension but let's not act like he was anything special, he showed his bright spots but he was good for literally one catch a game. I like what Boyle did as a blocker but that was just about it.
I think Pitta's time is done here too, just would rather wait till camp because as of now, everyone is a no show. People are talking about Pitta's play but Maxx Williams was very disappointing this season, in his 4 games he struggled badly to separate and literally had no catches. Just tough to bank on all four, I'd rather just wait and see then put Pitta in the June 1st cut.
I think Pitta is done, Gilmore is injury prone and overall our best hopes rest on Maxx Williams. TE's take a long time to develop and maybe the game is just too fast for Maxx at this point but he has the talent.
