Any progress?
And yes I'm digging this thread up, lots of MMA coming up and boxing is ascending again.
Its hard to see him becoming a 3 down workhorse with his injury history.
How about we bring back Zorn instead?

Id say CJ is extremely solid and Zach had a rough showing against the Browns. Good and bad, maybe a few more games like the last one and i'll forget that Crowell TD.
They did ok against the Titans but that vaunted defense has struggled so far, hopefully we can continue that trend. Sean Smith is ripe for a torching.
I think the offense will pick up a bit now that Flacco is getting some of his rhythm back, but we still need to get the ground game going.

I always envy these high powered, efficient systems. Its like they're playing a different game to us.

Hes a good zone blocking center and cant possibly be any worse than Zuttah, as he was better than he was the past two seasons. Why he took a job in Philly where he was a backup is astounding to me. Great in pass pro. Id send over a fourth rounder or something.
Then again im not a GM for a reason.
As far as I know we never made an offer to Wis. Hes a beast though, hes no Yanda or Sitton but can play power or zone and all three interior spots. I thought he would be a no brainer this offseason but the FO still had faith in Zuttah I guess.
Im keeping a close eye on Noah Spence and Ngakoue for comparison sake. Ngakoue probably has the edge right now but sample size is neglible. No immediate studs.
He wasnt great in week 2, but he's done well considering that hes undrafted. I think hes probably going to fill the role until we upgrade.
Zach Orr needs to step up, he had a nice pick though

We need him to be, he's going to be busy.
One day we'll have a high powered offense, one day.
Ive never been as convinced by him or Pharoah as I am by Dixon. Hes an average player.
^ I agree, for me it always boils down to talent, when you have one or more completely overmatched lineman no amount of work ethic can make up the difference. We flanked Zuttah with the best guard combo in football last season and managed to make up for the year long firesale at LT.
11 hours ago, The Raven said:I think Zuttah is a bad scheme fit now. As John Ogden and Wally Williams said in a recent Sun article, we're not running much stretch zone now. We're running more tight zone (which I don't like at all) and gap scheme (which is good). Jensen fits tight zone better than Zuttah.
Thats interesting, Ive always thought we give guys too much leeway for poor play but there must be more to this.

Like Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall, etc. Which is a good chunk of the league so I will take it. Brandon Marshall said Jimmy was the best corner he played against all year a couple years back. When he is put in the right situation he can thrive but speedy receivers usually win against the bigger corners. Which is why you want a mix of size and speed.
Correct, bigger corners are better suited to bigger receivers. The issue with Jimmy is hes not what he was, but age and injuries will do that to you. Hes still the best CB on the team hes just a few years removed from his best.

This sounds more like a personal expectation problem than anything else. We turned over 40% of our offensive line with two rookies and people are just not noticing that maybe, just maybe, the offensive line isn't quite as good?
All comes back to reasonable expectations and cost.
I'm not debating any position I'm saying our problems stem from a huge downgrade in talent.

It's a common trait amongst bigger, taller corners.

Plus, he's one of five offensive lineman. No offensive lineman on the planet is single handily good enough to carry a rushing attack.
Did we? we have no discernible ground game and barely beat the Browns. I'm not arguing for or against KO I'm saying our oline has been downgraded.
Urschel was too concerned with his studies this offseason and it shows, thats not to say guys shouldn't have different pursuits but he's lost ground to people who live and breath this. Go be a professor.
Stanley. Ramsey looks like he could be a stud but our team lives and dies by Flacco and he needs a clean pocket.

Hes a great player and our offense has suffered without him, but he was overpaid. Hes worth Brandon Brooks money. I dont know why hes burning bridges when hes not going to see the end of his new contract.
