May have been a few pressures from the left side but the sack was from the right side of the line. penalties were from most lineman. If you listen to PFF you have a problem. They only write what people want to hear and that is pure hate and discontent. You had a pro bowler de on the left and the great off coordinator left them on the island by themselves. He just set them up. lets see how Stanley looks against one of those monsters. Or maybe he will be conveniently hurt again like last game....

So you think Stanley is the saving grace? Not been watching the games have you?
The good:
Mallet- no turnovers. Enough said. That's how you win games.
juice- never shows up much on the stat sheet but he earns every yard he gets.
Aiken- reliable. Not huge numbers but will consistently put up 65 +
buck- had a good rebound game- and held onto that ball! Lesson learned.
Chris Mathews -not only with the td catch but made some nice plays on special teams as well. I see some potential here.
The bad:
Ryan Jenson- costly penalties.
Kendrick Lewis- turn and look for the damn ball kid.
Upshaws foot- really? Costed us a 14 point swing and almost the game.
Screw a draft position this feels much better.
I dont know who stayed in the backfield more in the game.Mallet or Jenson. Baltimore Sun said he struggled and that he did. Say what you want to about Mallet good or bad but that is the first real quarterback I have seen under the center for the Ravens in several years. On top of that he showed some enthusiasm for the game and that hasn't been seen in some time.
So we need to keep osemele badly, he didn't allow a single pressure, he's scheme and position versatile. And urschel and Jensen haven't flashed at all in their opportunities
Matter of fact they both have not even smoldered. Is there a reason why Jensen has been with the Ravens for 3 years and prior to all the injuries to the Ravens o line he only played 1 snap in the years prior to this year? Makes you wonder why? He hasnt shown much at all this year in his 3 starts and he was the first man in a bridge to be broken that took out Flacco. If he didnt have help on both sides of him in the last 3 games it would have been disaster. Urchel has done a little better but not much. K.O.did a great job at left tackle and he was "playing for the money" last game since he will be a FA and up for contract talks with big money involved. I say his durability is to be questioned since he has missed so many games due to to injury. Yanda is a history maker and you cant add anything to that! Wagner has not played very well all year and I think his injury and surgery may have taken a toll on him and his performance but he will be great once again. And heres what I think about Hurst since he has been a punching bag to a few of those on here. Monroe threw him to the wolves. When Monroe was getting beat in games I think he would just "tap out" to keep from looking bad. Hurst had a concussion also. Maybe his was not as bad as Monroes, but Hurst was out if I remember well 4 days till back at practice with Monroe out 4 weeks....Left offensive tackle is the absolute hardest line position to play, the highest paid and even first round draft choices falter at it . It takes a few years to develop that position and I have read where most of you want to draft a LT and have time to groom him. I for one think that is a good idea but it has to be realized that Hurst never had that opportunity to mature and be groomed. It was right into the fire for him and he did have some hard times but he never was injured and was able to at least try to step up to the plate and accept the opportunity regardless of how he played and was paid a small pittance to what Mr. Monroe was paid. Maybe he learned a lot this year. It is to be seen in the future. As far as Castillo is concerned he is a great line coach. It was Kubiac's system that made the offensive line what they were last year. He was an offensive linemans dream coach as to how he ran the game and zone blocking involved. The Ravens will once again be a great team. We have fallen on hard times but the future has to be bright. Could you imagine it being as dark as this year?
I'd blame injuries to Wagner & Monroe before blaming Castillo as Yanda, Zuttah, and KO have all been decent.
Aside from Hurst, our backup O-linemen, Jensen and Urschel have also been solid (though Urschel needs to work on his shotgun snaps)
So, among the healthy guys, only Hurst has been horrendous.
Let's see what Castillo can do with 5 healthy, starter caliber, O-linemen
(if we can ever get them for him).
Maybe if we had moved Hurst out of the LT spot earlier we wouldnt have an issue at QB right now. Just saying. That line was breaking down and to leave your starting QB like that out to slaughter week after week. It was just a matter of time.
Ah ha!! heres another wana be stand up comic!!!
Left tackle is now a bigger priority now that Joe got hurt because of Hurst. And will need better protection next year coming off acl surgery. Ravens should have signed Veldheer who is better than Monroe. Even when healthy Monroe has been very good but never elite but had many stretches where he struggled. Sucks that Other is playing so well. He seems to of found new motivation. If available I will bet Tunsil is the pick. He Wagner and Monroe will compete next year for starting spots. Tunsil will be the starting left tackle and Wagner Monroe will compete at right tackle. If there is an injury there will be a very good backup. I think this also makes the ravens CONSIDER keeping Osemele. Urschel and zuttah will compete at center and again the interior Oline will have a very good backup.
"Wonder Boy" Urchel anlong with Carrot Top Jensen have absolutley had their butts handed to them in a can the last two games. You can throw in Wagner in there too! He hasnt been stellar all year. Just another post blaming a injury on someone due to a below average quarterback who thinks he is too good to move around in the pocket.
Sam Koch. He's the next man up when all the other QBs are down. And he can probably do better than Clausen...using only his feet.
His stupid pick, six really sucked. Where's Bryn Renner?
He's heeeeer.........
Largely, yes. If I'm basing it off the rookie year production I've been seeing out of highly drafted LTs recently, I'd rather have 10-12 games of average production from Monroe to be honest.
I'm not even necessarily opposed to taking a LT in the top 10.I have zero doubt that people will literally expect a Joe Thomas-clone to walk out onto that field in week 1 for us with a top 10 pick, and that's an unreasonable expectation.
Could easily take a full year or two before we see quality play from a guy like that, and its also possible we never do. Same could be said for any position, except not every position can get your QB killed.
Finally I have found someone that has some football sense!!!!!!! Yea!
ill have to somewhat disagree. until we get a FS who isnt a liability to give up a deep completion on any given snap, until we get a DC who can alter his scheme to his players and make halftime adjustments, until we get depth at OLB to give us pass rush in the event that our old duo gets hurt or worn down, until we can avoid the injury bug, until we find a LT who can play more than a 3rd of the season, until we get a WR who can separate and catch the ball, until we can commit to a blocking scheme and have it work consistently, until we can learn to play with some discipline and not commit dumb penalties, we will struggle.
i think it is a lot more than just injuries affecting us, it is coaching, a lack of discipline, and a lack of talent. by the time we fix these issues, half of our remaining talent will likely be on their way out of town with fat contracts elsewhere, or forced into early retirement due to injuries.
with flacco and an OL keeping him upright, i think we always have a shot to be competitive, im not saying we are doomed, im just saying our issues are deeper than just a few missing pieces. the salary cap only getting a minor increase hurts us badly too, were gonna need to do some maneuvering, and hopefully that doesnt put us in cap hell in the future.
on the brightside, we have a foundation, and an identity, we are now an offensive minded team focused on getting the ball to 2 young stud TEs with a young promising runningback who already looks like a polished veteran, and we have a ferocious rotation on our DL, that is something to build on, and if we string together a few healthy seasons and a few successful drafts, then we can be looking at a bright future, but we havent done that yet and until we do its hard to feel overly positive. i do have faith though
Flacco has got to learn to move not just stand there flat footed and throw off his back foot to two defenders a game like he did this year. Maybe he can work on that in rehab.
OK.... the PFF Grades.... now I can actually say that I can discount them as being somewhat of a non-factor for me... Giving Crockett a -2 when he goes down in the first quarter with an injury wouldn't necessarily constitute a negative grade in my book. Just sayin guys.
Havent any you all learned by now that PFF is pretty much a joke. They dont know what they are talking about and they just want to fleece individuals for money that are dumb enough to think they do.
Costing what?
Hurst costing us again.
We aren't going anywhere lets lose and take the pick. The O line is awful bring in a LT or move Yanda to T and address other needs I was a Monroe fan but am tired of him Hurst is a back up lets set aside the pride and fix this sucker
His stupid pick, six really sucked. Where's Bryn Renner?
Schaub should be old enough to know he can't just stand back there forever like he does. It makes the oline look bad and then you see all the stupid quotes with no thought behind them.
Hurst is going to get another QB's knee blown out. We need a LT!!!!!!!![/kinda bulchit quote...quote]
I said Urschel will be a considerable upgrade over zuttah by week17. And a top3 in the league center!! The ravens need to keep KO and keep the formidable interior triad intact!! Urschel is probably my favorite Raven. He is the embodiment of what every Raven should be!! He works very very hard on power, flexibility and explosion through intense training and detailed nutrition. Gilmore focuses on a target body composition as well for optimal power and explosion. Every Raven should be required to adopt such programs!! Maxx Williams could be a top3 TE if he adopts such a program!! Jernigan works very hard as well for a stronger leaner more explosive playweight and body composition. Ravens need to find a way to draft Tunsil!! If Wagner returns to before injury form, NFL defenses will be retreating!! By far it will be the most dominant offensive line in the NFL with a shot at being the best ever.
I think he was joking. Sheesh.
Nope.Serious as a heart attack....
I would slid KO out to T and let Jensen do his thing at G.... In fact... that would probably be the lineup the rest of the year... (regardless of how healthy Monroe is or is not).
Ha! That is absolutely hilarious! You have got to be kidding right?

This is a useless and pointless post.
How can someone play less than 5 plays in 2 years, sticks his arm up in the air, the ball just so happens to hit his arm and all at once he is ELITE. Heck he didn't even run the ball back..Lets put him in on defense when it is 3rd down and 2,100 degrees outside and the opposition is driving the ball and then we see how he does. Trash is talked about other players yet Urban is is considered ELITE? Come on now.........
Static's Quick Takes.
- Webbs tackling was nice to watch but he still allowed way too many completions.
- James Hurst is still not an NFL player.
- Buck Allen and Terrence West were fantastic but the Running game was dead and forgotten like usual.'
- Shareece Wright was our best corner today. I loved his play.
- Jimmy Smith is still showing me NOTHING.
- C.J Mosley played lovely again but he got abused in coverage. Peas has to scheme around his weakness. The Browns were able to put Mosley on Duke Johnson Multiples times. Opposing OCs should not be able to X and O our defense like that.
- Daryl Smith missed a few tackles and I'm sure contributed to Barnidge being wide open.
- Matt Schuab is Matt Schuab. Not much else to say. He had a 95 rating at one point but if you need 28 points from Schuab to win. You already lost.
- You already know how I feel about Kendrick Lewis. Please. Please. Remove him.
- I'd be comfortable cutting Forsett lose and riding with Allen and West. I know we could use that 3mil elsewhere.
- Jernigan played well , Upshaw was alright and Canty too. Pass Rush was on fire at times and ghost at others.
- Brent Urban is Elite.
Rules for the site say:Criticize the post not the poster. This is still a useless and pointless post.
Wasn't Hurst the only oline player to grade out in the green last week after coming in for Monroe in the third quarter? He as consistently been been thrown in there and has to be ready to go in a moments notice. He is getting paid the second year rookie minimum and how is that fair in regards to what Monroe makes?People consistently bash him over and over. Not one word has hardly been said of Jensen who ultimately responsible for both of the injuries last week due to Johnson blowing him up at the line. Sure this team is having its struggles and injuries is one of the main reasons. We will get though this year and I think this team will play their heart out in the coming games. This site has too much bashing of the players on it. It goes to show how miserable some people are. I remember Irsay saying the sweetest sound he's heard was the sound of those trucks leaving Baltimore in the middle of the night.... It appears some would like that to happen again!!! If you can't stand behind the team why not keep you opinions to yourself!
PD96 you realize in the Rams game that Joe's line was missing starting LT C and G right? The same back up LT ranked worst in the NFL and the same one who crushed his knee. Backup C who has no college experience at C. Joe is also missing his TE #1 and WR #1,2,3 & 5 and RB #1 & 2 all in IR. I'm guessing you either don't really understand or just plain ignore these facts. You want comparison, Brady last night was looking bad but he STILL had his TE #1 (best in the game mind you) and WR #2 and #3 and RB #2 & 3 though he has similar OL issues. Take away Brady's TE #1 and WR #2&3 and RB #2 and let's see how he looks.... Or even just remove gronk. Joe was single handedly keeping this team afloat. He was elevating everyone around him. So don't tell me he's lost it when constantly fleeing for his life when guys don't run the right route it give up on the play or stop running as fast because they can't check for the ball and run at the same time. Like every single other qb he needs time and players around him who do what they are supposed to do. I'm all for Schaub and hope he does well, but we will all know one way or another how much Joe was doing for this team soon enough. Monday could go either way but after that film on Schaub teams will be able to properly vet him as a qb this year with lackluster wr talent.
You guys need to take a look at the playback of Joe's injury before you make an opinion of Hurst and his role in the incident. Take a look at why he fell backwards into Joe's legs. Seems like a St.Louis defensive lineman was behind his feet.Dont be so quick to judge....

Flacco does not have terrible protection. Flacco just stands back there flat footed looking around trying to find someone open and he stands there so long it makes the line look bad. The o line can't hold the defense off forever. But some people do expect them to......
