  1. I'm about as optimistic as it gets, usually, but after yesterday, I can't help but think maybe the rest of the season needs to be used to tinker with the staff and roster, to see if we can't get some better results. Pees did a good job during the Super Bowl run, and even with getting a lot out of a banged-up unit last year, but ever since Ray Lewis retired, it's clear that this defense lacks a lot of its fire and edge. Suggs, when he's on the field, helps mitigate some of that, but we've lost that vocal leadership, and it shows on a defense that's not devoid of talent, but is playing soft. I think the offense has a little bit of the blame for that, too. Kubiak managed an anomalous season, but the West Coast offense is inherently not a power scheme. The offense does not have to physically dominate the way it does in a power-run scheme. Kubiak managed to get that physical dominance out of the line and offense anyway, but Trestman clearly lacks that same skill and attitude, and when the coordinator does not have it, the scheme itself has to be the source of it. And that's not happening.
  2. Just because the Colts and Ravens aren't "the same team" doesn't mean they don't share history as Baltimore's teams. I really hate the fact that when teams relocated, all the records and accomplishments won in the city get "moved" with the franchise. To me, the city in front of the team name is the more important one. The Ravens are the Colts' truest successors, not that team in Indianapolis. And as someone who was unfortunately too young to have been around in the Baltimore Colts' days, I always enjoy learning more about the city's history, which the Ravens have thankfully embraced.
