Ravens got incredibly lucky. A pro bowl QB and all pro running back were lost for the season. The falcons were a coming off a superbowl. That trade could of worked out terribly. Anyways since ravens were picking #6 the following yrs round 1 is consudered more valuable. BUT if ravens hit on them picks with their own picks then ravens could go from pick #6 to championship contenders. And the ravens could realistically do so and are couple players away. A trade to acquire those players for the season could realistically thrust the ravens to championship.
1 hour ago, rmw10 said:Again, you act like drafting more players automatically means they'll actually work out. That's not how it works. Even some of the best prospects fail. When the plan doesn't work and we go into next year with no picks to correct the problem, then what?
The picks next year may not work out as well. If you have confidence in your drafting in would take the multiple players that Will make an impact the upcoming year. Picking #6 this year is in our favor to entice teams to trade for our pick next year for multiple picks now. However make the picks count and that will be a late round1 pick. Maybe even pick 32!! I like rounds 2,3 and 4 in this draft. Players I mentioned could play like round1 players.
3 hours ago, rmw10 said:You have a very diluted sense of how the NFL works if you think this is even remotely reasonable.
Sure whatever Mr let's not find impact players cuz you eventually have to pay'em. And for your 311 there are 30 teams every year that have a scrambled idea how to win. Do you have any clue how many retired players say their front office were morons. Didn't John elway snub baltimore cuz of how the franchise was run?? Then his hand was in some very different ideas that finally resulted in consecutive championships before he retired.
7 hours ago, rmw10 said:And your plan of trading away a future 1st for more picks isn't going to lead to us drafting more average players? Hmmm... I'm sure every single player we pick is a bonafide superstar.
If there are players that can play at a pro bowl level in round2,3 and 4 why not grab them now. But you would prefer double digit losses again and try to fill the holes in the off-season AGAIN. There are players in this draft in rounds2-4 that will play like round1 players. Just have to find them. Cravens,Coleman,Robinsons,Jones,Dixon will outperform many round1 players. If ravens could give up picks next year to get Cravens, coleman,Robinsons, jones,Spence,Mitchell, maybe Ngakoue and have them this year for a championship run then why wait til next year for impact players the team needs now.
Look guys a team probably wouldn't trade for him. BUT would not hurt to try. I mean we really do not know why he hasn't played. Is it system or a personal thing against him or is he a weak tackler with bad instincts and not good enough to play. Because fans were told for a while that Kruger was not as good a run defender as Harbs good buddy Jarrett Johnson. But was clearly a better edge rusher. He was beating all pro tackles in preseason and I don't wanna hear it was preseason. Nobody wants to get beat for a sack on the starting qb. I was at a game with my uncle and his friends. My uncle knew jj was a coach's/management favorite and my uncle liked him to. Anyways it was against the Bengals and everybody was freaking out cuz ravens were getting zero pressure. I said put Kruger in. My uncle said no no ravens are better off with jj. I said really, is getting no pressure the same as better off?? Well Bengals were driving like it was easy!! Finally Kruger replaced JJ and in one series got pressure then couple plays plater beat whitworth for a sack. I said you still want JJ over Kruger and he got all pissed off and Said blah blah blah. Anyways fans were led to believe for years Kruger was not a good enough run defender to protect Jarret Johnson's job. Now that injuries have taken some of Krugers burst he is known as a great run defender. Harbs even took it personal when Kruger said his goal was to start. Not saying Brown is really a good player like kruger. But there could be a team that believes it can make a player of him. Probably not, but nobody could say that for sure. I think that is all the intention was of the poster. That management could try at least.

So draft all average players so you can pay them?? KO walked cuz of bad contracts to injured and overrated players.
Luck is eventually the best qb in the league. The Colts are a 4 win team with joe flacco and I actually like Joe cool as a franchise qb. Lucks oline is terrible!! His WRs are terrible. He makes Hilton better than he really is. Luck has taken a pounding like no qb ever has behind that oline and incompetent gm!! He takes ferocious hits and says good job to the defense Crying Cam Newton sobs to the officials and never takes the hits luck has absorbed standing in the rush. The gm is a total moron!! Watched Trent Richardson in the nfl for 2 years and trades a round 1pick for a total bust. Then spends big on aged Johnson and Gore who were over their prime and clearly no longer above average. Not to mention the offensive coordinators system is very vanilla and predictable. Luck was playing hurt before his big injury was announced. His shoulder was clearly hurting. He hit his olineman in the back several times before he went on i.r. you don't see that from Matt Schaub much less Andrew luck. How is it the gm has a job??
Will Henry is going to be a total stud. Just needs to continue his work ethic he discovered about a year ago and refine techniques. But how many penetrators can run like a lb yet hold up 2 gaps like it is his natural position.
4 hours ago, ravensnj said:Personally, I don't think Smith or Forsett make big contributions this season. I see Flacco having his best season with Wallace, Moore, and Perriman along with the fine play of the Te's and Rb Dixon.
I agree but sub Campanaro for Wallace and Buck Allen could be pretty productive as well. If all could remain running full speed without injury Chris Moore,Campanaro and Perriman is like totally a potent young trio of wrs!! WOW!! So many teams began to fall in love with Chris just before the draft but did not have ample time to reshuffle their boards. Went the path of hoping to steal him in round4 but ravens beat many teams to the punch to land this stud. Mayock said with great enthusiasm that this kid will outperform many of the early round WRs and commented on his stock getting expensive late. Anyways I could see the reasoning behind ravens missing the tournament. But many are not realizing ravens best draft ever outside 1996.
I would try to get something. He is fast and athletic at least with really good college tape. Always cool to acquire draft picks. I wanted to trade Dumervil at the trade line last year while his value was expensive. Even if he has one more double digit season. I would prefer a youmg stud player. Dumervil could have resulted in a round 3 pick and some change maybe!! But yeah I'm sure there are some teams that think Brown can play and is not a fit in ravens system. He is fast and athletic with very good college tape. Not a bad idea to advertise him and look for a buyer. Could even package a player with him

Considering the fact that Jensen at LG and Urschel at center is not even the coach's choice (at the moment) as starters, saying they're as good as any interior line in the league is FAR FETCHED, I know it's your opinion, but it's far fetched nonetheless.
Sometimes somebody shows me a little glimpse of a player practicing or doing drills in the gym or grass. I saw a little on Jensen and Urschel and I really like them at left guard and center. Jensen is naturally stronger than urschel. He is so farm boy strong!! Urschel is very strong to but Jensen is a monster. He is one of those guys that could be undersized and stronger than most opponents cuz his strength is very functional. He is as strong as KO just in different ways. I learned how to find gems at oline before really watching oline players reall. If you were to watch guards and centers around the league you would say Jensen and Urschel have the raw skills to be as good as any!! I like Urschel at center cuz he is very smart for the line calls. For a guard Urschel has good power. For a center center Urschel is very strong with elite power.Urschel maxes out his athleticism through tea Kwan do, training and nutrition for optimal muscle and lower bodyfat. Jensen is very naturally athletic all the while he could stand to get in better shape but he naturally very athletic regardless the shape he is in. Urschel and Jensen are young and raw without many starts so their techniques could and will improve with every game played. If Ron Stanley is prepared for left tackle then I'm confident Urschel and Jensen will be very good.
Forget where he was drafted. Campanaro has similar slot skills as Edelman but Campanaro has far more outside play making skills. Edelman was injured a lot his first couple seasons and went on an intense training program and escaped the nagging injuries. Campanaro is as skilled as Perriman. Perriman is bigger but Campanaro is much faster and more sudden in his breaks and cuts. Campanaro Perriman and Chris Moore could be an explosive high octane young trio!! I do believe Campanaro will shake his nagging injuries. P errimans is a little more complicated with a problem with his knee and healing. But it is important he avoid the injuries as well. That trio with Maxx Williams,Dixon and Buck Allen thrown in the mix and ravens have the juice for a high octane offense. Chris Moore is my favorite of the WRs. The ravens have an oline to power the engine. I watched Jensen more than any player this offseason. And as much as I liked ko, Jensen could be as good at guard. Jensen Urschel and Yanda is as good as any interior trio in the league including cowboys. Wagner has got stronger and leaner this offseason. and could surpass 2014 performance if he avoids injury. He and Urschel tacked on about 10-12 -lbs of muscle and lost as much fat. It's all up to Ron Stanley to hold down left tackle. If he works as hard getting stronger as he says then he should be a top shelf left tackle. He and Tunsil are better than the tackles to hit the draft since 2012. Campanaro is very skilled and an important part that can not he replaced by any normal slot wr.
18 hours ago, Cillmatic said:The offense only improved SLIGHTLY this offseason, we're still a defense first team.
If ravens are a team that believes its defense is the strength of the team then the ravens are not going to be contenders. There is not one player on defense that strikes fear in opponents. Unless players from this draft perform very well the ravens are going to call on its offense. There are no all pro defensive players. The ravens do have a franchise qb 2 young runnin backs with skills, an oline that should be dominant, a young talented TE and a fast athletic vet TE that can block. And young fast WRs with a veteran deep guy and SS.
5 hours ago, Danny D said:I still think that Flacco is all the quarterback we need and more. However, the problem now is that the Front Office has allowed the team to deteriorate around him, both offensively and defensively. (Worse yet, seeing how they didn't appreciate the chemistry, I'm now convinced the aggregation of the Championship team was mostly luck.) Flacco is 31 years old, his window of opportunity was upon us when Newsome made the decision to rebuild the championship team and jettison key contributors and Flaccos favorite weapon. Everything that has gone South since those purges has been the result of Front Office scrambling to undo the harm of the purge.
Realizing Flacco was gonna miss Boldin they sign an injured Pitta. I won't get into how the Boldin Cap Savings was squandered due to bad decision making. Having purged their safeties they draft an unqualified Elam. Having missed on Elam, they have gambled on Free Agents that really weren't up to the task. They just gotta have Monroe and then they don't to more dead money. Our receiving corps has been horribly neglected under Flacco, for crying out loud, look who our leading receiver was last year!
You think the Monroe purge was quizzical? To my eye its the same move as stranding Elam without a mentor. This time it's Stanley and yeah, he needs some help. I just don't get it, but I'm convinced Newsome is older than his years.
Flacco has about 4 more years. Will the team he needs be there for him during his window of opportunity? It's a stretch.
Couldn't have said it better. The team has went from drafting BPA pro bowl building block players to patchwork need picks like Elam,Brown Perriman, scrubshaw. The science used for filling wrs is now being applied to various positions. Correa is the latest reach. However he could be a very good lb and difference making blitzer but he has to learn the position. He is raw as a lb. Ravens could of picked more pro ready lbs. However if Correa picks up the position and coverage duties his blitzing will be a very unique x factor. I have not liked Ozzies drafting for years now but this is the best class in my opinion. I agree Stanley needs to get stronger and its not an option. but he could be one of the best. And I agree Joe cool is far good enough!! His weapons have been terribly ignored. Ozzie seems totally oblivious to aging and free agent players and scrambles to replace them after retirement or signing elsewhere. Perriman was a panic pick cuz the wrs needed speed. His knee problem was ignored. Now management has went to the opposite extreme of ignoring all players with any kind of injury. Joe Cool could be a top 7 an if given oline and weapons. And it would not surprise me if he were top4 if ravens get a legit #1. Not saying a Julio Jones freak. But a wr that can win on every level and multiple dimensions. The kind of wr respected that opens up teammates.
1 hour ago, ravefan52 said:I think most people outside of Baltimore consider Flacco a bad to average QB
People outside of Baltimore say Joe cool is the best of the average qbs.
Winning is a team effort. Game managers win without doing much because of run game defense and sometimes oline and wr play. A qb that puts up 4500 yards 40 TDs with less than 14 interceptions on a losing team can't be faulted. Mark Sanchez went to 2 championship games when there was a team around him. A qb has to have stats or wins. A game manager is not as important to as a qb that can put his team on his back. But a game manager is a franchise qb as well. He knows when to take care of the ball and let his team do the work and when to air it out. You can't put all blame on Dalton. That is a team effort and coaching failure to motivate and get creative unless the qb plays terrible. Then it is his fault. One reason I critique Ozzie is the ravens are usually a legit #1 WR from a top 5 offense and he has shown zero creativity to get a young legit#1. The oline is usually in place the run game and qb to have a top 3 offense. But points are left on the shelf for not having that #1wr that opens it
I would of trade next yrs round1 and2 for a roumd2, 3 and for in this draft with a loaded round 3 and 4 with players with round1 traits. For an all time great draft this year. Why take chance in a losing season and waiting til 2017 to fill the needs when we could fill them all in this draft and compete for a championship next several years. Landing 10 above average to pro bowl starters in one draft is an all time great draft that could rival any draft ever
My opinion on Joe is he is good enough. But to be honest with you most people in my community and at work say he needs to step his game up or ravens should find a qb if Joe fronts anything not on par with his 2014 performance
Luck was hurt before the big injury. Several of his throws hit his lineman in the back.
3 hours ago, ravensdan said:I think you're overrating Carr a lot. I haven't seen enough from him to go in with any of these guys honestly. Only a few good games. Ben and Joe are quite similar. Bens lack of availability absolutely hurts his team and should count against him. Both raise their level of play for big games. Dalton has to raise his play level in big games to advance. I think it's fair to pit that group of like 10 guys each with pluses and minuses capable of leading their team to the big victories.
Carr played very well with good numbers. If Carr has a big year again he is one of the better qbs.
8 minutes ago, jazz1988 said:You have always preached how winning championships and getting to the super is all that matters. I rather have a quarterback that plays elite in the playoffs than the regular season which is what Joe Flacco has done unlike Dalton,Bortles, and Carr.
Flacco doesn't have the flashy stats but he also hasnt been surrounded with a offensive coordinator that support such a cause at least until now .
That is a team effort. That is like saying you would prefer Dilfer (who I actually really like) or brad Johnson over Marino and the elite qbs on bad teams. The ravens team step up their games in the playoffs. Boldin Pitta pulled in a lot of throw up for grabs. Manning lost all those playoff games while he was an all time elite qb. Then won a championship when his arm was the weakest in the league. Elway never won til he was no longer in his prime.
38 minutes ago, ravensdan said:I think Brady brees Rodgers are one group. Then you have luck Wilson Newton Palmer romo Ben joe Eli as close. Dalton bortkes and others I put in the next group.
You can not say for sure Joe is better than Bortles Carr and Dalton. All are coming off seasons better than Joe flacco's season. And you can not put Joe flacco with ben. I don't put Eli with him as well. And Wilson and Newton have to have great seasons again to be with ben. This season will brighten the pic of who is better out of Joe cool, Bortles,Dalton, Carr, Newton and wilson. I like Joe cool but to be honest I would bet On Bortles coming out of this one touch better than Joe. Bortles is looking better every game. He could be better than Wilson, Newton and Eli as well. I forgot bout Rivers. He is a touch better than Joe as well. He has done it longer than Wilson and bortles

1- you were so bad that the poor Texans thought Schaub was Brady after you. They even payed him like a top QB because of your sorry play a few years earlier.
2- your brother fell to the second round when he was obviously a first round talent. U know why? Because people feared he'd be an over rated bust like his older brother.
In other words. If your career is made of glass. Don't throw stones at Super Bowl MVPs...

I agree like totally!! He is very intelligent and is an escalating athlete with his tea Kwan do training and nutrition to lean out and maximize athleticism. He is tough and intense and will bully his opponents. He is a hard worker in the gym and very strong for the center position at 315lbs. With Urschel being very lean for an interior player he has the bulk and power of a 325 lb interior player.once he is completely adjusted at center he has the power, skills, intelligence and top shelf work ethic and should be a top 6 center. Jensen is naturally a stronger player for left guard than Urschel although Urschel is extremely powerful for a center. Jensen is very strong and far more athletic than his squatty frame indicates. Although he is powerful and very athletic as he is now and is not in any need of power and athleticism It would be cool if he got in a little better shape to avoid injury. His calves and lower leg could use some added muscle to hold his massive 330lb body. At least to avoid injury. It would benefit him if he lost 20lbs of bad weight and tacked on 12-14 lbs of muscle he would be in better shape to avoid injury. The added strength and athleticism would be a bonus to his already powerful and athletic play. Anyways the focus here is although a little green and not many starts, Jensen and Urschel have plenty of skill, power and athleticism.
Alex Lewis many people think I do not like. However he could be a very fine guard. He is a pretty good athlete for the guard position with good size and power. If he tacked on 12-14 lbs of muscle and a little stronger he could be a 325 lb guard with length and power in the mold of KO because he has very good balance and a really good feel for how to block. He could be a quite a standout guard with a little more muscle and strength. My only knock Is there were a couple dudes that could be very good tackles and guards whatever ravens plans are. And Ron Stanley with Tunsil are the most skilled tackles in last several drafts. More muscle and strength and and a couple touches leaner and Ron Stanley is competing for pro bowls or all pro. So oline is in good shape with players whose best football is on the way!! And Wagner is reported to tacked on significant muscle and leaned out quite nicely!! If he avoids injury could you imagine Wagner actually surpassing his 2014 form?? Ravens oline has some freaky skills and potential. Have to like how Harbs aggressively challenges players to get stronger and leaner to max out their skills. Dixon zinging through those holes is going to be fun to watch. I like the ravens weapons but it would of been totally cool if ravens would have drafted a wr tsndem in round3 and 4. Adding Robinson Mitchell or the former ohio qb would give ravens most formidable young wr talent it ever fronted. Perrimans issues calls for a young freaky skilled WR in addition to Chris Moore in the eventPerriman never really plays. I like Wallace but would prefer a young wr with his best football in front of him. For Joe Cool to build a couple yrs of chemistry as opposed to all the castoffs and retreads ravens management try to squeeze a couple productive years from. Because then ravens would have everything to front the best offense in the league. Not many teams have explosive weapons and a dominant oline.
