So in your opinion, what does Stanley need to work on?

You have to much time on your hands. It offend you that Stanley needs to get stronger to dominate in the nfl?? I will be more confident in Stanley when he gets stronger. Make sense to you??

  2. Campanaro. He has the skills to be better than eddelman/welker. Campanaro has far more outside speed and play making skills. Similar to Tyler lockett. After his very agressive off-season speed strength and conditioning program that was similar to Adam archulettas he could be a 4.3 40 guy. If he could navigate clear of injury he is going to be very interesting to watch. He has the speed to get open and the athleticism to make plays

Secondary try not to suck so bad as last year. That was embarrassing.

    Receivers....well....nevermind

Offensive Line....If you can't block...hold real good. Take lessons from the Cheatriots, their holders do real well.

Pass Rushers...we know you're aging, but seriously if you don't get some pressure on how do you expect our Secondary to not be pitiful like before?

Marc Trestman.......please don't go pass happy now......Its not like this is the Grey Cup man...We know the temptation is great, but come on man..... just stay off the PASSSSSSSSSS

Ozzie Newsome...Your year is primarily over......but be careful with our surplus.........no Free Agents like 2013 ok?

Beat the Bengals at least once........Please

That's it, to accomplish those things would be bold.

Who woulc you say has the best chance of the young WRs to step up?? I agree with you on many front office blunders since the championship run.  However do you not see any potential at all in Ron stanley,Jensen and the young receivers. I will say Ron Stanley needs to tack on some muscle. Up to 20lbs he could. He doesn't have the upper bod strength of Tunsil. Ron Stanley has got by on techniques and activity while Tunsil has used very matured upper bod power to dominate. My opinion it is a great thing Stanley has flourished while needing power. While he could struggle til he tacks on some power and gets in shape,if he adds power element to his technique and athleticism he would be a superior left tackle to sheer athleticism and power.

For some reason I can't edit this post but it should say Perriman but my auto correct vetoed my correct spelling.

Probably a good thing grim. There is a better chance of ravens drafting trading or signing for a Perryman than Perriman playing.lol of course I'm rooting for him to play and play well. Although I have my reservations about his stiff routes I like everything else about him minus  the injuries of course

Anyways, bold predictions. Flacco hitting 4000 yards is not exactly a bold prediction as it is pretty much likely. He was on pace for about 4500 yards. Willie Henry becomes an effective rusher and forms a nice tandem with jernigan. Henry is eventually a pro bowler but probably not as a rookie but will be impressive. Dixon and Allen form a potent tandem running and catching. Forsett loses touches to the young guys. Jensen makes the pro bowl or many analyst's say he deserved to. Wagner rebounds to match his 2014 season. Urschel eventually gets the center position and establishes himself a very good center and qb of the oline. While the oline will dominate as a unit. Maxx will break out with one of 800 yards or 8 tds. He will stand out with one of yards/TDs. Campanaro and Chris Moore will for a very productive tandem. Not sure about Perriman to include him but that would be an awesome young trio!! As for defense the rush will come from interior penetrators Jernigan and ultra skilled draft steal Will Henry. Kufusi has the skill to switch to edge rusher cuz he is not an interior . However he needs to reshape his bod a little b4  any bold predictions to excel at edge rusher.  Losing the excess weight he is carrying will help with back. So while he has the raw skill to be a double digit guy he needs to in edge rusher shape. So no bold predictions yet for kufusi.

If we are making honest predictions here. Suggs will not be the impact player of his pro bowl years.  And ravens will be looking for young players to get pressure on opposing qbs. Dumervil will get about 7 sacks but no longer the feared edge rusher he was. And SS will be a tough fiesty player but will not put up the numbers at the pace he was producing just b4 his injury. He is 37 coming off achilles. Will not be a difference maker but through determination he will put up about 55-65 catches  for about 700 yards. But rookies and young players will mature and make an impact. Nearly forgot. Mosley will rebound and have a great year and excel in coverage.

    @BmoreBird22

I recall reading in an article before the draft reasons why the LT recently drafted high haven't panned out. It was @Inqui who introduced me to the article. While I admit it didn't change my opinion overnight,  my opinion did change over time for various reasons. The article is listed below:

    http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/02/24/nfl-draft-combine-offensive-tackles-history

First,  I went back and looked at Tunsil and realized the rationale provided in the  article was accurate. LT are coming from the spread a lot more than they once did. This could be partly why we chose Stanley over Tunsil since Stanley came from a more traditional offense.

Second,  Tunsil's behavior issues I once thought were trivial became more apparently not. Even before the bong incident there were signs coming out of his immaturity,  all culminating with the bong video.

I think we made the right pick right now over the two.

Good article grim. Iniqui is the man. He finds some swesome articles. Lunch is about over and I have not eaten yet. Son I can't test to deep. Anyways one point I disagree on a little. Saying these guys can't match athleticism.  The busts are very athletic.  Athletic as the 95-2000 studs (everything was cooler that era,music,sports....) Anyways the couple probs I see are #1 power. The tackle is not going to be quite as fast as the edge rusher so he has to compensate. The tackles in the article were physical specimens. When those guys  Like tyron Smith got their hands on the rusher it was over!! Or landed a punch it knocked the rusher off balance. These guys are bigger but not much stronger than the rusher. Similar athletes but Lane Johnson has got stronger. Joeckel, kalil, Fisher not so much. Is it any coincidence Johnson really impresses the eye test against rushers?? Then there is technique, instincts and feel for blocking which is matured through reps in a pro style offense. Will finish this later.

With 4 games or so of playing the position?  Arent you one of the posters who jumps on the FO for making bad contracts?  How does it make any sense to give a guy that much money who has played such little time at a position?

You are willing to give half that to a kicker?? Some player it takes a while to guage. While there are players you can get a feel for their potential in a couple games or less. Anybody who watches 20 seconds of highlights of khalil Mack could tell he is going to be one of the  best defensive player in the league. If not the best. Unless Penn really performs exceptional, ko will eventually be the lt

Hence the whole reason I was always against paying a guard 12million a year

He would of been the left tackle. If he would of been signed well b4 free agency he could be less pricey. Everybody is all for paying a kicker on a 5-11 team $5mil. But not shell out to protect the qb. A qb that thrives when protected and seriously struggles when not given top shelf protection. But Tucker is a media darling and fans eat it up when the media talks up a player/management.  Tucker could get $7mil a yr and fans would be applauding.lol Come to think about it. If Joe cool not been injured and thrived under the Olines dominance the last couple games then KO may of been franchised and signed long term. Not to say ravens are not awesome along the oline. In comparisons of he and Jensen.  my opinion ko is actually built to play tackle more so than guard with his size, skillset,positions/angles, he is most comfortable blocking from. Jensen although he could fill in at tackle is a natural guard with his base, leverage snap from his legs and core and balance . Just an awesome blocker. An awesome natural mauler of a guard!! Technique is pretty good for a player with only several starts. Just needs reps to get a feel for moves used by opponents.  just an awesome awesome guard and overall speciman!! The opposing guard I compared to Jensen is round1 pick Kevin zeitler. Like Jensen a power guard of similar size. However zeitler is waaay maxxed out through work in the gym and packed on muscle. Jensen is a naturally big frame and country powerful b4 even stepping foot in a gym. He did 31 reps with minimum work in the gym at the time. He now works out on a regular basis. Anyways zeitler is a little stiff at times. Actually more than a little at times. And he needs to be set in comfy upright positions for his power to get traction. Where Jensens much like Yandas power is more available and can gain traction from any position. Which allows him to recover(much like yanda) when opponents temporarily  gain position. Because Jensen is more flexible and athletic than zeitler. It is really not close. Jensen is a better guard and more athletic and skilled than Zeitler. With Yanda going into year 10 if he begins sliding it would not be a surprise to see Jensen outperform him. At a bigger school Jensen would of been a round 1 or round2 pick.

Not to say Ron Stanley isn't a very talented tackle. Very happy to have him. The Player I liked at #6. But it would be interesting to trade down and drafted some players at need positions with that #6 pick. And Urschel I believe could be a top 6 center.

Since when did making kicks 50+ yards at a percentage greater than .500 become the norm for paying a kicker as accurate as JT?

If JT got a long term deal tomorrow averaging $4.5M a year, I wouldn't be mad at all.  He's earned and deserves it IMO.

What happens if he is below 500 on 45-50 yard kicks. He was average this yr. Nearly $5mil a year for a kicker that's average??

Agree totally!!  While he is better than cundiff he is coming off a down year. Not for paying a kicker big money Unless the team m.o. calls for a great kicker. On a defensive oriented team the kicker could decide a playoff game with a 55 yarder. But ravens are 5-11 and need to get back to the team that a kicker could decide a big playoff game. Ravens need to contend before a kicker can decide playoff games. I would favor Tucker proving himself again b4 offering him a contract that averages $4mil per or more. So to feel comfortable shelling out nearly $5mil per to a kicker he needs to reestablish himself again as a kicker that makes well over half of his kicks of 50+ yards.

The answer is no. Replacing Osemele with Urschel is frankly saying "we're going to downgrade our offensive line". No offense to Urschel, I believe he is good.

I like Jensen at guard over Urschel. Urschel has good power for a guard but his power at center is considered supreme. He has everything you could want in a center. Very intelligent and athletic and getting stronger and more athletic with a top shelf work ethic. While already very strong for the position and plays tough and nasty. Once he adjusted at center the interior oline was clearly more dominant than with Zuttah. Jensen is very powerful for the guard position with very surprising athleticism to boot. At 330lbs he moves like a smaller guard. He is as nasty as anybody. Jensen is going to be a top5 guard. Yanda Urschel and Jensen are as good as there is. Alex Lewis could eventually take over right guard when Yanda retires. Lewis is pretty strong with good balance and exceptional feel for blocking. He is adopting Urschels work ethic in the gym and nutrition habits. He will eventually tack on 12-14 lbs of muscle by his sophomore season and play at 6'6 325-330 lbs with length power and athleticism in the mold of KO. Urschel is so valuable. He has a top notch work ethic. He strives to get stronger and more athletic and it rubs off on his line mates. Wagner is going to be interesting to watch. He has tacked on about 12lbs of muscle while getting leaner. He could surpass his 2014 form if he is clear of injury. He was dominant the last couple games when he finally was void of injury. Oline is one position ravens have drafted freakishly well at.

" always been and always will be the SOLE reason....." is a stretch(putting it mildly).

I actually think Flacco took major steps in 2013 in terms of pocket awareness and movement in the pocket and that us sometimes missed. I wonder sometimes about that cheap shot against Detroit. I don't think he is quite as willing to hang in and take a hit since then.

I have recently watched a lot of 2015 ravens. Joe was not good last year and revisiting those games confirmed it. At times the way he passes is stunning and so impressive. Almost beautiful mechanically.

But he was wildly inconsistent. His decision making was often stupefying and frustrating.

I'm in the camp that figures Joe can lead us to another ring. This is a year where he HAS to be consistent  however.

You just illustrated how Joe cool can throw as beautiful and accurate a throw as any qb in the league. However joe needs his time to scan and throw comfortably. You give Joe cool a dominant oline that allows him a comfy pocket and he can and will throw with pinpoint accuracy, touch and anticipation. And he will take the hit and throw with accuracy. He just needs a little more time than Brady Rodgers manning Rivers Roethlisberger and Brees to scan and find the open guy. Boldin and Pitta played crazy good in the championship run. But many don't realize McKinney got in shape really fast to hold left tackle and dominate which allowed the oline to play their best positions and the oline totally dominated. And Joe cool played at a level never seen b4 and as good as any playoff an ever.

It's way too early to compare the careers of Mosley & Smith. 5th Round pick LB Zack Thomas (Defensive Rookie of the Year) outperformed 1st Round pick LB Ray Lewis in his rookie year - how'd that turn out? And you are also comparing 2 different positions. Mosley plays MLB in a 3-4 defense whereas Telvin plays OLB in a 4-3. Telvin is too small to play LB in a 3-4 defense - he's more of a Safety anyway (which is why he is better in coverage) much like Deone Bucannon or Mark Baron.

His weight at the combine was that of a big safety. However he was a lb. It is not like he is a safety convert. He has a bigger bod than bucannon but very lean. He is just good in coverage. And he could play lb in a 3-4. He is doing everything 245lb lbs do taking on and beating blocks. He may be 230 lbs but he plays big.

  13. Don't really care who wears communication devices. More interested in Mosley getting better in coverage and being a top3 lb and Weddle squeezing out a pro bowl caliber year at 31. If those things happen ravens defense will be be at least good. Mosley has the athleticism, speed, power and instincts to excel in coverage. It is a matter of him performing. He needs to outperform telvin smith who I wanted the ravens to draft and find a tandem in one draft. I knew telvin would be comparable to Mosley but not outperform him. A round5 player at same position outperforming Mosley looks bad!! Mosley has the athleticism explosion and instincts to cover and do everything else as good as telvin but hit with far more authority than telvin can. It is a matter of him doing so. More interested in that than Mosley wearing communications devices. And Weddle playing like his best.

  14. All this Barry Emmett talk is entertaining. Emmitt was a really good runner behind a legendary oline that was in front of its time with size strength and athleticism. The line was more athletic than many realize. However it is more entertaining to watch the ravens build the oline and front the best run game in the league behind Yanda Wagner Jensen Urschel and Stanley. KO may be missed at tackle but Jensen is going to be as great at guard. I compared the 2. KO while awesome at guard was a more natural tackle. With his length and how he liked to use it and latch on with big hands. He preferred playing tall which makes his power that much impressive. Jensen is 330 lbs and very very strong as well. However he plays with more leverage and lower than KO and actually enjoys a rumble in the trenches. AND he is athletic enough to play tackle if needed for a couple games. Jensen is going to be a household name and a trendy player for being an interior oline player. He is going to be on top100 next year!! Write it down!! And behind Jensen Yanda Wagner and Urschel Dixon and Buck Allen are igniting ravens run game legacy. Only thing left is for rookie Ron Stanley to follow Urschel like he's been doing and get stronger and in line with his line mates for the season. Ron Stanley following Urschel is a very very good sign that he is working to get stronger and play more intense like his line mates. A stronger more intense in better shape Ron Stanley is bad news for edge rushers. Because the dude is as technically sound and athletic as a left tackle gets. Behind these dudes Dixon could be very special.  The Ravens run game could be awesome.

Honestly, I don't see the Rice comparison at all.. Ray was not as flashy in the open field, but more like an inside runner and much much better at breaking tackles. Bell is a cowbell and everything you wish a RB to have.. Rawls is not as versatile but much different.. Nothing against Dixon generally, but he goes down if hit by a fly. He is just a fun to watch, complementary outside runner that can be pulled to the slot. I'd say he's  a lot more like De'Anthony Thomas or DeAndre Washington (in this year's draft), who's a slower Duke Johnson.

I agree with the ray rice comparison. And the bell comparison. However Rice very often went down far more effortlessly by the tackler quite often. I do remember at games and sports bars numerous times people pounding  The table to give the ball to McGhee because how fast Rice went down. Rice at times broke tackles but went down quite easy at times.  Rice always ran behind at least a better than average oline. The one year the oline was average at best Rice averaged like 3 yards. I do acknowledge Dixon needs to get a little stronger but he is a worker and he will. Johnson is a good comparison but Dixon's moves are a little cleaner and more sudden with better ball skills. Dixon will likely eventually get to where he beats dbacks catching  from lined up with joe cool. He needs to get stronger but he has broken a lot of tackles, and ankles. Look at his lower body test numbers. Very explosive for a running back. Not many running backs are over 10' in the broad jump. I like Buck Allen as well and many are forgetting

  16. Joe Cool can play as good as anybody with a dominant oline and legit weapons. But he is not the qb that can carry a bad team like the elite can. And that is the reasoning behind fans that don't want him to get the pay of the qbs that can. Let's be honest here all qbs need help. Some qbs need more help. Some qbs can't put up numbers even with good help. Joe will never read and slice thru defenses at warp speed with a bad oline. He needs his time. But his arm can put the ball anywhere. I get it the league has been shelling out to average qbs and that's the going rate. The argument is when will a team tell its average qb like osweiler or good qb Joe cool you are not Aaron Rodgers. You need more pieces around you and if we pay you like Aaron Rodgers we can not put those players around you. Denver played it well with osweiler. Pretty much said you need and have a team around you and if we pay you nearly $20mil per then we will lose one or more of those players that you need around you to win. And the Broncos opted to address left tackle. And When Sanchez has players around him he went to championship games. Now Sanchez has the best team and qb friendly system around him he ever played with. He could play his best football ever. If so it could send a message around the league

  17. Somebody said He is a combo Thomas Rawls/Dion lewis. I can see that. You can see dare I say it Marshall faulk but not quite the long speed of faulk. But he has very solid breakaway speed that should get better because he wanted to run sub 4.5 and took it personal when a scout or analyst Said he looked like a 4.55 guy. So he is working hard for 4.45 play speed while getting stronger. GIO Bernard is a good comp but Dixon's cuts are more sudden.

I'm sure everything will work out just as you've drawn it up, you know, because that's how the NFL works.  The NFL must be so archaic to not have thought of such a genius idea.

For your 311 many ideas that worked out were initially harshly criticized. Jimmy Johnson trading the cowboys only all pro player. Trading a round pick 1 pick for Brett Favre, trading away the opportunity to draft rgknee. Not drafting Reggie bush. Trading the following years round1 for picks in a current draft is not new. It's that the ravens picking at #6 spot the following years round1  is far  more coveted and all the following years picks. Teams are not counting on ravens being a contender the next year and picking late round1 and round2. Which could happen if ravens hit on many of those picks. I'm sure teams have considered it but it would take a lot of nerve.lol If it works out your a genius the alternative you could get fired. You saw the players I would pick with those extra picks in the trade. It will give you an idea if a trade like that could work. Your very welcome to call me out rub it in if those players are average to busts. Makes football fun huh??

  19. I would not say 30 lbs. Looks as if he tacked on roughly 20lbs so far. His goal is probably 30 lbs which is really cool. Brown has more savvy and technical skill than waller. 30lbs of muscle will put him at 250-255 lbs at 6'5. This could really pay off for him and the offense if he retains his 4.55 speed at over 250lbs!! Because he is a very good blocker for a wr already. And at 255lbs with 4.55 speed and good route running and Savy ball skills to his routes he could rival Maxx for best young athletic TE on the ravens. Which would be very impressive cuz Maxx is a very natural catcher and naturally sudden smooth route runner that got in better shape and should be far faster than he was. I like Brown as a bulked up TE far better than Waller.

    Or the rookie wall.

The following years round1 pick could do so himself. Or be a bust himself all the same. Have to hit on your picks anyways regardless when you use them so what's your point?? Even if there is a learning curve those players are ready to play year2. And you have a very skilled  young fast team that will be championship caliber. Then along the way give a former drama that is now focused  a calculated tryout.  Of course there are many considerations before following through with that particular plan. Have to hit on picks anyways.
