Once again, mediocre among starters!! Do not forget that the other TEs are being paid to. Why is it a player produces anything and home town fans label him better than average. You do realize there are many TEs around the NFL producing?? A guy catches a throw and makes a block and it is characterized as above average?? lol A players playing shape is very relevant and influences his level of play and potential ceiling. Moderately solid shape?? puuullleeeezzzeee!! lol I am in moderately solid shape for a non athlete but you call Maxx in moderately solid shape for an NFL TE. Seriously dude?? Almost everybody I know would disagree with you. And until other members show they know something about athletic performance and benefits of better muscle to fat % then you are going to need to accept and get used to my opinions being the supreme justice around here. Can your ego handle that?

Is the piss poor defense going to get better next year?? Suggs Dumervil, Webb, and Daryl Smith finding a fountain of youth?? Lewis, Upshaw going to find talent?? Jimmy going to find consistency?? Mosley going to learn how to cover?? Oh and BTW all these players except the free agents are on the books for significant cap hits. However I do expect Mosley to rebound.

I never said Ozzie is getting booted. I said the team needs to reboot. He is not a "good" edge rushers yet. Elite is Justin Houston. Good is a player that is consistently around 10 sacks like Chris Long. A good edge rushers is an impact player.

Speaking of WRs stepping up, another big day for Steffon Diggs!! To all the peeps that got angry and rude when I said Diggs and Lockett would be better than Perriman....

He is fast and athletic, nothing helps a player more than reps. Unless his instincts,angles, and physicality is that terrible he will never be a good player regardless of reps. I do think Mosley has the speed and athleticism to rebound in coverage. Mosley is as fast as Arthur.

It is time to reboot the defense and team when fans are talking and hoping zadarius Smith is some kind of building block or cornerstone for a future dominant defense. I like him better than I ever did Upshaw(I said he is a colossal bust\scrub from the jump) but I do not see him as an impact defender. Productive but not impact. Now Bud Dupree is a dude the fo should have targeted!! He is a super hero playing with mortals. He was called raw but I said he would get 6-8 sacks as a rookie on sheer raw talent,power and explosion. Looks like he will exceed my expectations. He would have been an awesome replacement for T.S. As for Zadarius he has some potential. Heavy hands, and tackler, decent athleticism for a 280 lb player,plays hard but if the goal is a championship he will leave you wanting a little more and staring at, admiring and lusting after the prettier rush olbs out there. Just my $.02.

Thank you. Finally somebody who can see the big picture. Ozzie has the ravens a hot mess!! Huge gusrsnteed $$ on the books for aging players, injured players and eratic players. Being competitive with this kind of cap space is leaning on successful drafting. And the drafting has been so terrible that fans are applauding serviceable players as something to get excited about. They can not be very active in free agency because of cap Hits. And it is not just Ray Rice like everybody is saying. It is many players that will not perform to their cap hit or play with the ravens at all!. Suggs and Dumervil will be in their mid 30s. Monroe,Daryl Smith,Webb,Ngata,jimmy is not playing to par and not to mention the smaller contracts. The sports networks are beginning to label the ravens a bad team. And using the reload word. As for free agency it looks as if it will fall on Joe cool to take the paycut to put an established young WR on the team. On the bright side there are only 2 ravens free agents any respectable team would actually be interested in keeping. Tucker and Osemele. If you notice many are defensive players. If the ravens can keep the oline intact and Monroe returns to form and they add a legit WR the offense could be able to carry the defense. My opinion a legit #1 WR would help the team more than anything because Joe can score points with any other qb if he has weapons around him.

Many peeps around here talk like he is a future pro bowler. TEs can be effective with pedestrian athleticism. Especially if a feared WR opens this up. But not elite. That's where you and I differ. You are applauding mediocrity. Shown well as a blocker?? Found separation?? That is nothing to do cartwheels over. And I would like to think I do have some credibility judging athletic skills If you are going to question my quotes, at least get it right. I said lose 15-20 of his flab and replace it with muscle. Where does that put him at 220lbs?? My assessment of his physique is actually quite accurate. Again I am fairly qualified to do so. Don't you you think so?? There are WRs that have more lean mass than Fat Maxx does. Andre Johnson for beginners. If you stripped Maxx of his flab, Andre Johnson would be the bigger stronger looking athlete with more muscle mass. Yes if he lost his flab he would not be an ideal TEs playwright. But you are correct. 220s is preposterous. If he leaned out to a proper TE physique he would be about 235. That is why I said drop 15-20 lbs of flab and replace it with 15-20 lbs of functional muscle. BTW if he got in shape I would wager he will find that extra gear. Bodyfat slows you down quite effectively. Just ask Suggs. And Maxx does not have to figure it out. He has some of the finest trainers and nutritionists around him. He just needs to follow it. Unless he makes some change I am calling Maxx a very mediocre TE. And that is all he will ever be. Sorry if that offends anybody!! And that will make him a disappointment considering Ozzie traded up for him, ravens already had Gilmore,and all the talent they could have had. And when he turns out to be mediocre I would not label that a successful draft pick!! The goal is a championship. They are won by talented players.

The ravens organization. They want a juggernaut offense. Did they not use early round picks on WR and a TE?? Which is my point with Ozzie. Why didn't he trade up when much better prospects were available and actually BPA's?? He is not playing drafts strengths and is late and a step behind everything he does. He waits until WR is a desperate need and decides to pull whatever name is left in the hat in Perriman.

Nope!! The goal is a prolific offense. And they want a TE that defenses fear for the scheme they wish to run. I want him to be comparable to Gronk!! Or at least Travis Kelce or Olsen or Cameron. My friends in the new England area laugh and rub it in how belicheat stole Gronk from Ozzie the wizard. I play like it does not bother me but it gets under my skin a little. He is actually not nearly as fast as a young witten. Witten was surprisingly fast. And I doubt he will ever be the blocker Heath Miller was. Miller was mediocre as a receiver actually. A little above average at best but did not strike fear in defenses. Max better really hit the weight room to block like Miller!!lol, I would prefer him tough and reliable over the middle, good after the catch and the speed and skill to make nfl defenses respect his deep speed and athleticism. And a functional blocker is fine. Much like Todd Heap. If he followed a strict training\nutrition program he could be much like Heap or Pitta. Like I said he does have some athleticism and savvy working. If he practiced his craft more diligently, dropped 15-20 lbs of flab and put on 15-20 lbs of muscle he would find that extra gear and be a top4 TE.

For an NFL TE he is fat. Witten was actually far faster than he looked. He to could have actually been more dangerous down the seam had he got in better shape. But MAX(notice I left fat out) looks like he is running in sand out there!! He is not quick or sudden. He may have been at his joke of a college division, but not the NFL. Do you think Gronk would be as fast and dangerous if he looked like MAX?? NEVER!! Gronk has been clocked at 19.99 mph this year. He is actually faster at 270 lbs than he was in college at 255. Because of his work ethic!! And MAX would be more sudden in his routes if he was not carrying around all that flab!! He would be tougher to bring down if he put on some quality muscle. I saw a Corner tackle him like he was a ragdoll couple games back. Gronk follows a strict training and nutrition program and is out to the practice field before Brady is. And the goal is a championship right?? Then he does have to be like Gronk. The ravens traded up for a dangerous playmaking TE!! Not A pudgy TE catching 5 yard glorified handoffs. I do know He showed up to camp with bad eating,workout and practice habits. He acknowledged he needed to train and practice more seriously and change his poor eating habits. He angered some coaches and rubbed them the wrong way because he was not already doing these things. Pitta has a great work ethic. Before his injury he looked like a WR running routes. MAX is nowhere near Pitta right now. But he could be if he got his pudgy body in shape!!

Actually fat maxx did have an OK game. What I meant is he is not an elite TE and does not have the skill set to be Gronk,Gates or Graham like everybody is saying he does. He does not have speed or an extra gear to strike fear in defenses. He will be serviceable but not elite. I am harsh on fat maxx because he does have some athleticism working for him. If he reshaped his flabby bod he would gain a step of speed and perhaps even find that extra gear and be far stronger. He needs to lose about 15-20 lbs of fat and put on 15-20 lbs of muscle. He is leaving speed and athleticism on the table!! If he adopted Gronks work ethic in the training room and on the practice field he could potentially be a pro bowler. But be showed up with bad eating habits and bad work habits. And was culture shocked at the muscularity, speed and power of NFL players as opposed to that joke of a conference he played in college. He needs to be like Gronk. First on the practice field!! And a strict training and nutrition program. He acknowledged he needed to change his eating habits when he showed up at rookie camp. He could be a 1000 yard 10 td guy if he seriously dedicated himself to his craft and getting in shape.

The ravens should have traded a round1 and round2 pick in 2005 for SuperSport. He always played like a raven.

And that just scratches the surface of players that were available. Wagner I like and root for but is having a terrible year. Juice is a fan favorite but he is just a fb, complimentary player and he likely would have been there in round 6. Overlooking mettenberger as a backup was a huge mistake!! and he will show that this week. And I would call Gilmore decent. He will never be a pro bowler. If he were good the fo would not have traded up for fat maxx. Campanaro I would call good if he could stay on the field. He is similar to Randall Cobb. A faster version of Julian edelman with more outside athleticism and ball skills. He has legit above average speed to gain separation. He ran a computer timed 4.38. But he can not stay on the field.

Bengals,packers,patriots,jaguars,seahawks,steelers,Vikings,raiders,cowboys,cardinals to name some teams that have drafted far better than the ravens recently. Some of these teams the young talent has not yet translated to playoffs yet. Like the raiders and jags. But give them time the talent is there and gaining confidence. Their young talent is playing better and better while ravens fans are making excuses for young players such as fat maxx. As for the cap situation, that is Ozzie's hot mess!! And draft position is no excuse!! There is talent available at pick#21-26. And if Ozzie truly trusted his scouting skills and there was a player he liked, he could always traded up several spots to 17-20 spot. It does not take much to move up 6 spots in the draft. If Ozzie thought a round4 pick was more significant than a player he and his scouts liked and believed could be an elite player then that is on him!! It only costed a round3 pick to trade up 6 spots or so to select Joe Cool. And he did not want to do that. Biscotti had to order that move!! If Joe Cool would have been picked already, Ozzie was content picking the next QBs name out of the hat. Some good players fell to the ravens but they lost out on far more players like Dez, GRONK,Hopkins,Harrison Smith,Agholor by waiting for the hat to get to the ravens. Because Ozzie does not pursue players he and scouting believe in. He conservatively treats it like pick a name left in the hat. He does not have the brilliance to adjust his strategy accordingly to a draft board and free agent market. The bad drafting and bad signings is the reason they are 1-5 with needs at both olb spots,ilb,FS, 2 WRs,corner and left tackle. And center,guard a question mark entering free agency.

I do not necessarily think it is the strategy that wins games for teams like the packers. They have a franchise qb. There is no proven strategy. You have to adjust your strategy and thinking accordingly to the market, your assets and competition. Kind of like adjusting on the fly like a great route runner does when he gets open from different coverage schemes. Ozzie does not seem to be smart enough to adjust his strategy for each draft and free agent market. Sometimes you sign your own players. Sometimes you can acquire a far better player from another team. Would you prefer to pay Torrey $9mil or Maclin $11mil?? Jimmy $10mil or Grimes $10mil.

I agree. However they were reported to be shopping him. I agree a #1 is to much because Alshon is not yet in the category the elite like Dez or Julio. It would be interesting to see him play with SS and learn route running from one of the best ever go couple with his size and skills. If Alshon became an elite detailed route runner to add to his speed and ball skills he could be as good as Dez Bryant. Being that the ravens are looking at a top 10 pick I think a #2 or pair of #3's is reasonable. He would take heat off Perriman and free him up as well. Which would help his confidence. Somebody mentioned try to sign him and not trade away draft picks. I love that idea!! However the ravens have this gm who only wants so called "bargains" . Nevermind the fact many "bargains" are bargains for a reason and often end up useless as players. If the ravens draft an elite talent, they have to pay him market value anyways. What is the difference if that elite player is not already on your team?? Why does everybody have to be a bargain to be considered?? When taken into consideration all the bargains that are bad signings and are scrubs at that point. Or the bargains that do play well are on the books for $$ even after they to old to be considered starters or NFL caliber then then as a whole bargains cost as much or when considering all the bargains that did not work out. Many times bargains are cheaper for a reason. Many times you get what you pay for!! When Ozzie only considers bargains, it is strapping and limiting the organizations options. Sometimes you have to trust your organizations coaching,work ethic and atmosphere to sign a marquee talent and trust the ravens have the structure for that player to perform even better than he did on his previous team. And inject your roster with much needed pro bowl talent.

Members here and my friends disputed me when I said Hill could play FS. One dude played football for Maryland and attempted to say Will Hill was very slow. But this same dude said Elam was better than Will. So I doubt he watches the games!!lol Anyways I think the ravens could be dominant again in a hurry of they traded for Chancellor and obtained a fast physical 3 down LB to partner with Mosley and take control of the middle of the field!! The ravens would be fronting safety's and ilbs that can run well, cover, tackle,play the ball and INTIMIDATE!! The key to the 2012 dominance in foxboro was 2 safetys that INTIMIDATE and LBs that could cover like safety's. Especially Ellerbe. The key to the SF defense was 2 ilbs that were fast physical and could run and cover as well as safety's. Obtaining Chancellor would present a challenge I'm sure. However finding a 3 down physical instinctful LB to partner with Mosley either through free agency or the draft should be a priority. Daryl Smith plays smart but he is a liability. Why not trade for Alshon?? Or some other proven or clearly ascending receiving commodity?? It would give us leverage in contract negotiations and keep us out of a bidding war. I think a #2 or early round 3 is reasonable to acquire Alshon. I do not want to hear a #2 or #3 and we have to pay him is to expensive. Because it is not nearly as expensive as burning draft picks on busts at WR and money for useless aging or overrated #3 or #4 WRs on other teams. As with the salary cap situation, Ozzie has it a hot mess!! To much guaranteed $$ on the books for old,injured and eratic players. My opinion, it is best to cut ties with these players and spread the cap hit out over a couple seasons so they can be competitive. Or else take the cap Hits this year and accept the team will suck for another year and have 2 years of early draft picks to go with a good amount of csp space. I know most fans do not want to hear another bad losing season. But it would be truly nieve to think they are going to fix all these holes in the draft. Especially the way Ozzie has drafted lately. Ozzie's bad drafting and signings has led to other issues. He plays comp picks to a fault of a tunnel visioned senile man. And it handcuffs the organization's flexibility and strategy. He follows one strategy and has zero vision and intuition to adjust philosophies and strategies when the situation is favorable and beneficial to adjust his route and path of thinking. Ozzie learned bpa from belichick by his own admission. It led to some good players from 1996-2003. However as his stars aged and he failed to draft many or any marquee talent, it led him to panic, get away from bpa and try to replace his stars exact position. However when trying to acquire elite talent for your teams foundation you accept a marquee player at any position. That is the payoff of bpa. Yet another bad draft as ravens fans will have to watch WRs like Tyler Lockett and Steffon Diggs outperform the raven's round1 WR. As well as game changers at WR and other positions play in the pro bowl and outperform the ravens top2 selections YET AGAIN!! The excuses you all are making for Perriman and Fat Maxx like they are rookies will not last long. Then you will settle for the top 2 picks are busts or mediocre YET AGAIN!! Just a question out of curiosity. How many losing seasons before it is time to replace ozzie?. Since the championship they are below .500 and missed playoffs 2 out of 3.

If his agent knew the ravens were interested he would put the pressure on for a trade. And with all the money the seahawks are paying they are interested in collecting draft picks. A pair of #2 picks could tempt them. And there is nobody in the NFL or draft like Chancellor!! So that is not steep at all. He hits like a LB and covers as well as any safety.

When the ravens oline is intact it is easy to find a RB to be effective. Daryl Smith is getting old and slow. I mentioned last offseason replacing him with a fast physical 3 down LB. Bowman and Willis made the safety's look good and their job easy. Mosley with another fast physical 3 down LB would control the middle. Then adding Chancellor next to Hill and that is a defense that would command a name!!
