  1. So he is coming back at 34 yrs old coming off an Achilles injury to anchor the defense??!! I'm going out on a limb here and say he will be a shell of his prime. How many players came off great years only to decline sharply?? Jared Allen, freeney. And if you get below the surface of things he was a non factor in new England and finished the regular season on kind of a sack drought. Surprise Surprise the defense played better against Peyton's arm?? As long as the Suggs anchored ravens Defense play qbs that can't throw over 45 yards it can dominate?? Awesome!! That and a buck will buy a bag of potato chips.
  2. And you do not see Suggs has declined any already so far?? And at what point is he no better than some rotational dude?? When he is 50??!!
  3. Fine!! Next year he will be going on 35 when he returns. We will Have to wait and see how he performs if he returns and see who is right;) Anybody that has ever remotely attempted to keep in shape or played a sport other than video games or fantasy league knows what happens to athleticism in mid 30's much less coming back from an injury. I could only imagine why nobody posts pics of themselves around here.
  4. I don't think Alshon will command nearly as much as Dez,Calvin,Jones, green and company. I see an average of $10mil a year or so. I really like Alshon. He is a faster taller Boldin. Very awesome ball skills and his speed and route running skill is very underrated. His rep as bad separation skills he earned while weighing 240 lbs. At 6'3 1\2 217lbs he has very good speed and burst. Brian Quick has similar skill if healthy. But Alshon is the proven commodity. Mix him with Doctson,Boyd or somebody and Stanley at LT. And the Ravens offense can win shootouts with anybody. Mix in Allen refining his receiving skills with the Ursch at center and Wagner rejuvenated, and Ravens are #1 offense even if Perriman is a bust.
  5. He plays a lot like Michael Turner, my opinion similar skills
  6. I agree with much of what you said. Why the hostility?? I dont want just a decent team. I want a young talented team that can give Brady the worst afc championship game of his career!! I just don't want to count on aging edge rushers. Or these scrubs at WR!! I want a legit #1 that opens up the TE and other Receivers. I want to sign Mike Neal to add explosion to our stout DLine and find a young explosive edge rusher. Would not mind ravens looking into giving Aldon a shot. He played his best with Harbaugh brother. Because elite edge rushers are tough and expensive to find otherwise. I do know Neal spoke with the ravens and was impressed before staying with The packers. That dude is so similar to Atkins in talent!! With Brandon Williams giving him space I expect double digit sacks if injury free. He and Jernigan can be quite a penetrating duo!!
  7. Y even bring it up?? I simply said ravens could of got just as much or more production from a cheap free agent TE and used the pick on Lockett,Gregory or somebody over wasting the pick on Maxx in the avatar there lol
  8. Delusional?? Nice try dude! Who actually thinks the ravens TEs can be pro bowlers or a top6 TE in the NFL?? Numbers or no numbers every TE named has more speed and athleticism than the ravens slugs at TE. Gresham competes with 3 stud WRs for catches. Housler has a third string qb. The ravens are more committed to using TEs because of the offense's scheme and the WRs suck. Gresham has been in a pro bowl. I would bet $$ ravens TEs never come close! The amount of draft picks on TEs illustrates their commitment to using TEs!! Of course Gilmore has several nice plays but it is the preseason play that everybody talks about. Barnidge has a breakout but that is a fluke because he isn't wearing a ravens uniform?? If he were a raven all the homers would be calling him a steal and you know it!! You Can not just acknowledge he is outplaying all of the ravens TEs. Delusional homerism just does not allow it. Gilmore is an NFL caliber TE but not elite by any means. With Ravens terrible WRs if Ravens had a fast athletic playmaking TE he would be on pace for over a 1000 yards. Rudolph,Cameron and about 10 or more other TEs in the NFL would be on pace for over a 1000 yards if they played in Baltimore with such an awful crew of Receivers. I actually like Gilmore and Boyle. I like Gilmore commitment to getting in better shape and both of their blocking. They can be very effective working zones if a legit #1 WR creates space. They just are not speed seam threats that worry defenses very much. And get your point straight. I never said Gresham or Housler are big upgrades. The ravens could of had them cheap and got similar or more production and drafted an impact player like Tyler Lockett or somebody with the maxx pick. Lost, you actually think the ravens are a good and talented team!! Tell us how good they are after the game with the jaguars.
  9. Hurst is awful. But Monroe isn't much better and he rarely plays. A round3 tackle could outplay either!! I can't believe ravens didn't draft clemmings!! May as well draft a tackle. I would like to see tunsil or Stanley but it should not be hard to find an upgrade over both. The defense IS struggling without Suggs. But at 34 was he going to be the pro bowler Suggs or begin to be the shell of himself?? Now at 35 coming back from another Achilles?? He is a contributer at best much less a difference maker if he returns. Time for some young edge rushers!! And I think Neal is far more explosive than Mcphee could ever dream!! His power and explosive 5 yard bursts and flexibility to get low make him a prime fit as a 3-4 penetrator. He has very similar skill set to Atkins and the new phenom in St. Louis. Capers told my co worker/friend himself he wants to keep him. However hopefully the packer organization prioritizes Daniels
  10. I would prefer to finally maximize Joe's talents and get him a bona fide #1. Ravens are not replacing Reed Lewis or Ngata. Much simpler to get a #1 WR that will open things up for the rest of the offense and take advantage of a franchise QB. Mike Neal is very underrated because of injuries and fluctuating weight and positions. So if he does hit the market he would be a bargain. His best position in my opinion is penetrating DT or 3-4 Defensive End at about 285 lbs or so Very similar power and explosion of Geno Atkins. He would be the best penetrator of the DLine rotation. Neal is one of the most underrated defenders in the league when healthy!! He is actually more talented than the far more heralded Mike Daniels. If he stayed healthy in ravens system he would be a double digit sack artist as a 3-4 penetrator and olb on obvious throwing downs. He is far more explosive than Mcphee!! He will not be very expensive and I see no reason ravens can not sign him and Alshon. I would cut a number of current scrubs to sign Neal and Alshon. Aging Daryl Smith could be cut. Along with Lewis,Monroe,Elam and Pitta. Only free agents worth retaining are Tucker and Osemele. I would even cut Suggs. 35 yrs old coming back from an Achilles is silly and delusional to think he is going to come back and fix the rush. As for cutting Jimmy. I am not sure what his cap savings would be. But Jimmy is a waste of $$!! He has been Injured or terrible more often than he flashed. If he were a round4 pick that merely flashed at times there is no way he would of received a big contract. But being he is an overhyped round1 draft pick he gets rewarded for his very rare success. Bringing back Scrubshaw would be a mistake in my opinion. I ran into some of the crew from the fan at the harbor. I told them Upshaw is a bust and ravens should of traded up several spots for Jones. They got pi$$ed and rude and shot off how awesome Upshaw looked with his burst packaged in his thick powerful frame and how Upshaw is another future great raven defender. And Jones was overrated and lanky. And here is Jones leading the NFL in sacks while Upshaw doesn't know what a sack is. BTW Jones sets the edge better than Upshaw as well. Hopefully ravens let that busted waste of a #1 pick go and sign Mike Neal!!
  11. He is Sergio's next of kindle. He is more of an alien than bigfoot.
  12. Mosley may be pro bowl caliber again. But even that is a stretch considering his play this year is so terrible. Wil!iams is a good nt but not an all pro. Jernigan does a couple things really well but olines are neutralizing it now. Carl Davis is solid. The group is very solid but unspectacular. The group is capable of keeping LBs and edge rushers clean but there are no Ngata's in the mix. Like I said the Dline is solid, very solid and can keep LBs and edge rushers clean while creating some surge occasionally. But where are the edge rushers and LBs that can make plays?? Outside of Mosley whom I do hold hopes for but he is struggling while asked to do more this year, there are no alpha male playmakers at edge rush or LB. And Jimmy is a joke!! He has flashed at times in his career but has struggled more than flash. This team has serious talent deficiencies!! At WR, TE,Edge rush,S,CB,LT. All key positions. Other teams players are being paid to!! To often a player flashes a couple plays as does pretty much ANY PLAYER that takes hundreds of snaps in the NFL. And homers believe they have a future pro bowler. Gilmore for instance has one beastmode preseason play and fanatics have him in the pro bowl already. But truth be told he is not winning match ups or beating single coverage very often. Which is why Maxx Williams was drafted. I don't know how!! but somebody in management saw a fast athletic playmaking TE. Capable of stretching defenses better than Gilmore. Gronk, Graham,Davis,Kelce,Reed,Eifert,Walker,Harbor are some of the TEs that are defense stretching playmakers that make plays on their own. Ravens TEs do not even come close to play speed and athleticism of those dudes!! Ravens TEs do not even compare to a healthy Gresham much less a top 5 TE. Boyle is actually the sharpest route runner of ravens TEs. Ravens would of been better off signing Gresham or Housler than drafting Maxx. And using that pick on a WR like Diggs or Lockett or some other impact player. I do agree if ravens retain Osemele and if Ursch can settle in at center and ravens find some legit WRs the offense should be top 3 next season. Joe cool is all oh sooooo underutilized with the scrubs he is given to work with. Worst case for raven offense is Givens to give false hope like Marlon and countless other ravens weapons and enter next year thinking they possess an ascending WR talent and waste Joe Cools talent. Best case scenario for the offense in my opinion. Keep in mind these are not moves I say the ravens should make. Just would be great for the offense. Sign Alshon,he is a taller faster Boldin. His speed and routes are underrated and he is that 6'3 1/2 WR Joe cool can trust when everybody is covered. Draft Tunsil or Stanley and scrap Monroe. Resign Osemele because of his injuries he will be cheaper than expected. Settle the Ursch in at center. He gives our team a 320lb gritty hard working intelligent center that can create a surge!! If Yanda takes care of his bod with strict nutrition in addition to his workouts he has another dominant year or 2. Hopefully Wagner returns to at least a RT that gets some pro bowl consideration. A top 6 RT would be great if he returns to at least that level. Draft best WR left on the board in round2 or even trade up back into round one. Draft Yandas replacement to groom at top of round3. Preferably a guard that can fill in at guard or tackle if there is an injury. It would be nice to pick up a seam stretching TE cheap if any are cut. Like the dude underperforming in the rams system. If not, I think Boyle or Gilmore could be functional finding openings in zones created by more skilled and feared WRs while being great blockers. And it would be cool for Allen to ascend to a 250+ carry runner and become a very good receiver out of the backfield. And form a tandem with power back West. My humble opinion an established #1WR like Alshon is very necessary for immediate high octane scoring. Multiple rookie WRs could take a couple seasons to acclimate. This way the rookie will have Alshon or whichever WR the ravens acquire to learn from. Ravens offense should be top 3 or better. On side note I would like to see ravens acquire Aldon, considering Harbsughs brother Jim got him playing at his optimal level. And now that he is 25 he could of finally grown up. Ravens are void of alpha males at marquee positions like Edge rusher and WR and it will be tough to fill all the voids with true playmakers without giving players like Aldon and Washington a chance like giving Will Hill another shot. Where would ravens secondary be without him??!!
  13. About 10-14% bodyfat is good. The older you get the lower you want it. Below 8% you have trouble with joints when you reach mid 30's. You need to have it tested by a pro to know for sure. Good luck
  14. Actually dude it is quite similar. Take all the best guard's dating back to Larry Allen and since then. Hutchinson, Mankins, Shields,Faneca they all began declining at 31-32. By 33-34 they were cut or traded. ALL OF THEM. There are scientific facts that show when a person carries bodyfat over 15% that the body breaks down from its physical peak at a younger age. Arteries get hard and clogged, joints get overworked and eroded, endurance wanes and movement becomes more labored. When a player is in their 20s their joints are fresh and smooth, muscles, ligaments and tendons are peaked and contract explosively, blood vessels are elastic and clean and carry an abundance of oxygen and nutrients. So you see DTs that move like LBs when they are young. Yanda can remain solid through technique, grit and power but he will not be dominant or explosive much longer. I agree my friend, Flacco and Johnson would be formidable. But that is a lot of $$ for a 30 yr old WR. I do agree however the ravens need a young legit #1 WR to build chemistry with joe. Not these undrafted, practice squad, castoff and over the hill WRs.
  15. At least keep it football here. You need talent before talking. You do not back it up you become a joke. Ray and Ed are legends. Best at their positions. You do not draft the best LB and safety left in the hat when it comes around and think you are replacing hof's. You trade up top 5 and you still are not likely going to replace hof's. As a matter of fact you are likely to end up with busts aka Elam and Brown. If oz really wants to replace Ray and Ed he should have looked before they retired. So the safety and LB could actually watch Ray and Ed. Not wait til their retirement and grab whichever name is left in the hat.could Ray and Ed be replaced?? No way!! Ozzie is silly for even thinking it much less saying it. But you could find a perennial pro bowl safety and LB. Oz should of stayed course of bpa over replacing Ray and Ed. Or kept his eye open as Ray and Ed neared retirement. In 2012 oz overlooked countless pro bowl LBs and traded away Harrison Smith. Then waited til 2013 to reach for 2 replacements. Ravens need to reload and get some players who can back up trash talk
  16. You need a crystal ball to see a player with 2 hip surgeries is done as aa viable player?? And why is the Calvin Johnson contract so bad for a 30 yr old but a 32 yr old guard gets a new deal averaging nearly $9mil and everybody applauds?? Don't get me wrong I do not want Calvin at that $$.
  17. To many peeps do not see the bigger picture!! Uh yes those teams turned it around cuz they got a franchise qb. They already had other game changer talent surrounding the qb. The ravens have the qb but they need to surround with talent. Young Playmakers on offense and defense. If Upshaw and and the ginger bread man and even Elam are considered successful or hopeful draft picks for their spots then the ravens desperately need early draft picks!! OK say they by some miracle finish 8-8 Then what the hell are they gonna do??!! Pick middle first round and land a solid but unspectacular player and finish 8-8 again?? Role players can be found dirt cheap. Even solid players can be found at bargain prices. Game changers, the most precious commodity in the nfl, players that elite offenses and defenses are built around are acquired 2 ways. You draft'em or you pay them $100mil in free agency. Ozzie very rarely finds a game changer alpha males after round1 or even after top10 picks. Ray and Ed falling to the ravens was an anomaly. In today's NFL a ballhawk safety would never fall outside top10. 2009 was most recent elite player outside round1 with Webb. So stop for repairs and reload ammunition and set course for Superbowl. Now if this were a war and the army was as equipped as the ravens are, would you be in a hurry to try to engage the enemy?? Or would you retreat and reload?? Homers that are crying for a couple wins must really be hardcore football fanatics if a couple wins mean all that much!!
  18. Dallas Cowboys, rams, and our own Baltimore ravens went from double digit losses to a championship in 2 yrs. Saints went from bad record to a superbowl. Colts went from 3-13 to 13-3 and legit championship contender. Cardinals went from double digit losses to nearly winning a championship in a yr or 2. Take 1997 season. I was in college and getting acclimated to the ravens being our team and not the hand me down Cleveland browns. Anyways they got a hard fought win in the finale that costed about 4-5 draft spots. We needed corners desperately. If ravens would of lost that game they would of landed Charles woodson. The constellation prize was Duane Starks. If the ravens landed Charles woodson they may of won consecutive championships. He and Reed and McAllister would of been unfair. OK say the ravens pull a 6-10 record and target somebody say Bosa. Now say they lose out on Bosa and he becomes the most dominant defender outside Watt. It would suck watching him take over games and be the difference maker in countless games including a championship. The defender the ravens end up settling and reaching for becomes a mediocre nobody like Upshaw. Who in their right mind would want to give up all those wins Bosa could be responsible for including a championship over a couple meaningless wins in a busted season anyways?? If the ravens did not have those top 10 picks they would not of won the Superbowl in 2000 The ravens have aa franchise QB,a good oline,Dline, one of the best safetys in the game. And a good smart coach that gets everybody to work very hard and play to their Max. A losing season would not hurt them and cause a losing atmosphere. Harbaugh and Joe cool have been amazing keeping the ravens in games. Surround them with some alpha male game changers and the ravens are Superbowl contenders!!
  19. One high pick will not solve all ravens probs. Picking the top of first 4 rounds could help. As long as the old wizzard does not botch it. It is going to be a reload process. The ravens are void of bona fide alpha males 30 or younger. Outside Joe Cool of course. But what good could he do if every year everybody is hoping some new undrafted, castoff, practice squad WR steps up. Then you must consider what is stepping up?? Making a couple plays like the typical Homer definition of stepping up?? Or morphing into a true alpha male WR that defenses actually respect and fear and catapulting the ravens offense to top 3 in the league.
  20. Overall a good post. However half the players you mentioned are back up caliber. Everybody needs to think realistically. Other teams players are getting payed to. Homers(not directed at you) tend to forget that. Homers are saying things like the ravens don't need WRs. They already have reveivers. And the ravens do not need OLBs. Upshaw is their OLB. And other teams are fielding the most talent they can. It is about skill and talent. It is not the movies. The ravens gm has not done so well recently and the consensus excuse is his average draft spot is in the 20's. It is a business. Just like financial decisions making current financial situations tight for future success and prosperity.
  21. Do I want the ravens to win?? Are we talking championship?? Hell yes I want a win!! Otherwise who cares!! Build a team that can humiliate every other team in the NFL and win the Superbowl then we can talk about wins. Otherwise any other win is meaningless. Anything less than that is a failure of a season.
  22. The ravens TEs are not the kind of TEs that will make plays on their own like the elite TEs. I know homers do not want to hear that. They will need a true #1 WR open things up for them. Neither of them possess speed or sharpness in routes. Maxx showed up to camp overhyped overconfident and overweight. He angered coaches with his sense of entitlement, his terrible eating habits and his lazy training and practice habits. He is culture shocked by the power and athleticism of NFL players. His speed may of been adequate at his college but not the NFL. Most fans opinion of him is based on his hype because he given the title best TE in the worst TE draft in years. But anybody that has watched him play could see how slow he is in comparison to LBs closing in. Everybody is hanging on one preseason beastmode play by Gilmore. But truth be told he is not beating single coverage. The best TE is actually Boyle. He is running the sharpest routes and getting open more often. And when a blocking TE is outplaying maxx it shows his skills were very overhyped!! He may be effective finding openings in zones but he is not the athletic fast playmaking TE like Kelce.
  23. Wrong, wrong in likely event you have not noticed I would like oz to sign some talent with rare tools on the cheap that has yet to break out!! Can't fault a gm for swinging for the fences!! Quick was having breakout games with terrible QBs and he does have raw physical tools and is a very hard worker. He could very well break out like Sanders did. And he played already with a franchise QB with ben. As for jacks I read in 2010 he was 28 hitting the market. If correct that puts him at going on 35 next year. In any sense the next vet legit WR brought in should be younger than 30 to build chemistry with Joe cool before the WR begins his decline. I really believe Alshon makes sense. He wins on every level of the field. He snatches in traffic over the middle, he is elusive and tough after the catch. He has some deep speed. If covered deep it is where he is at his best. The return for the money helps the team. It utilizes Joe cools skills. It helps the other Receivers get open and more effective. He is a taller younger faster Boldin at 6'3. If Perriman does become even a top level #2 with elite speed then it makes the ravens offense as formidable as any in the NFL thus competing for a championship.
  24. I do not want vjax. He will be 35!! Garcon played great just one year but could be a solid option. Marvin Jones I do not see as a definite go to guy. He benefits playing with AJ Green. It could be very different if he is expected to be the guy defenses game plan agsinst as the #1 WR. I really like Sanu. However he looks slower this season. He did not run a fast 40 but he was always football field fast. This year however his game speed looks uninspiring. Garcon or Sanu could be that go to WR but they could disappoint and waste another year of flaccos career. Ravens need to find a way to fix the position for sure. Through trade or a splash signing like Alshon. If he is injury free I really like Brian Quick. A big athletic hard working playmaker that was having his coming out party before his injury even with bad qb play. As for defense I like Nick Perry and Zach Brown. Perry has raw tools to have a big breakout and Brown is fast and athletic. Somebody mentioned Mike Neal. However the ravens are already well invested in 3 young DTs that look to be solid. Better use that $$ to fill needs.
