FO will regret this when Webb gets injured.... AGAIN
Was there some "smoke" over the Hill? I am a bit surprised that Hill was the cut here, but in a lot of ways it makes sense. He had the biggest contract the Ravens could cut, Hill is more of an old school hitter, and the Ravens clearly want to get faster and create more turnovers. The Ravens in the past have let sledgehammers go that seemed to turn in pretty good performances; Landry, Pollard, Ihedigbo, and now Hill. There is still a crowd at safety from my count behind Webb and Weddle you still have: Matt Elam, Terrence Brooks, Kendrick Lewis, and Anthony Levine. They aren't keeping 6 safeties on the roster, maybe 5 at most. Levine is versatile and can play corner and special teams. Brooks has been banged up every year he's been here. Elam I think gets one last crack before the Ravens give up on him....bye bye Kendrick?
So was this just odd man out, or is there there a little more behind it given Hill's checkered past. I was hoping he got sorted out so I hope that's not the case. He will not be out of work for very long as long as he's clean.
Hill was fast and he does get interceptions. I don't get this move at all
For the first time I passionately disagree with this move. Saving 3 mill is not worth letting such a good safety go. He was a hard hitter who is also a ballhawk and just 26!? How on earth does the FO think Webb is better than Hill? Before we got weddle I would say Hill was the best safety on our roster. Cut Lewis or anybody but hill. Very disappointing.
If you want some super-optimism here you go; maybe Joe and Oz have finalized a restructured contract on the precondition of Osemele re-signing with the Ravens giving Joe a solid O-line with K.O and Yanda for years to come.
The flock is strong all over. I can attest to ravens in Canada.
And now he watches over our team from Valhalla.
we wont
I think Clarence Brooks and Juan Castillo are the 2 most loved coaches on the team.
West and Allen the future of the run game. Jernigan, Davis, Z. Smith, Williams future of the D-line. Mosley and possibly Brown got LB covered. Our TE future is best in NFL (going forward not right now) We have lots of good young players our first round pick next draft should be a DB to help Will Hill and Jimmy and sure up a position with injury prone players (Smith, Webb, Brooks)
Like I said before rest ALL injured players that will be ravens next year until 100% healthy, play all the young up and comers you can, lose out, draft high and deep, and make this season a write-off. Teams that try to fix it all in the middle of the season continue to be losers season after season. Lets get back to proper RAVEN status aka Super bowl contenders every year.
Give the season up rest all injured players until fully healthy give as many young players as many reps as possible and shoot the lights out of next years drafts with many and high draft picks. We all know we don't stand a chance of beating teams like Patriots so even if we make playoff's we gain nothing but possibly injuring our players. I'd rather have one really bad season then come back than constantly trying to do it that one year.
Simple solution, get Steve Smith to scare the ghost away.
Maybe we can convince the ghost to scare the team into giving a [profanity removed]
I still have faith in Elam. He lost a brother and a sister to gang violence and held his brother as he died in his arms. He is motivated and has a great attitude and superb athleticism. We were playing him in all the wrong positions last year, I still believe he is the future SS for Ravens.
I've always defended Joe but he's making it tough. Can we have a comparison stat of game winning TD's to game losing INT's? I don't think that would be a stat ravens would post.
We all know our defense is bad and this season is over but Williams, Davis and Jernigan are 1 great and 2 average or slightly above average pieces on d-line to build around. Mosley is injured while playing in the middle of a bad defense but he is a solid piece as are Will Hill and Jimmy Smith when the latter is on top of his game. With high draft picks, and most likely a lot of them as ozzie works his magic, and getting rid of Rice, Ngata etc dead money we will return to form. Just not this season or maybe even next, but playoffs in 2 seasons for sure.
I think brandon could become at least equal to the best run stoppers of all time
@purpledown I agree. I said the exact same thing yesterday.
Brandon Williams NEEDS to be a Raven for life!
I will be the first to point out the poetic irony of SSS putting the team on his back and his back breaking. Without SSS I dont think we could beat anybody this season.
to sum it up nothing but Osemele
With so many Browns out and them coming to M&T I would rather SSS suited up and only plays if we ABSOLUTELY need him to win. Despite evidence to the contrary Steve is human and we need him more than any one player save Joe.
i feel for breshad he clearly wanted to contribute and play. a silver lining is he is going to know the playbook when he eventually does get back on the field. with his age and athleticism i'm bummed he wont play but hes certainly not a bust
But now Gillmore is being regarded as a reliable, borderline unstoppable, TE by defensive CO when not double teamed and even then a chance. It should help ease some pressure off smith until Breshad is back

cutting canty certainly does he is more interested in being a reporter analyst tv personality than a football player, daryl smith I agree we took him off a bad team he played stellar got his first playoff game then just as we are about to assume final form and get that lombardi we cut him
