  1. The defense obviously lost this game... but I'd steer clear of singing praises to the offense just yet. Steve Smith caught 10 of his 16 targets against 6 different corners... a.k.a. they simply didn't have a healthy body who could cover him... and Justin Forsett gained 49 of his 68 yards after contact... a.k.a. Our o-line still can't block [profanity deleted].

  2. Since this organization refuses to get a vet WR(Hakeem Nicks,Donnie Avery,Santana Moss,Brandon Loyyd all available)... Ravens better start using more double and Triple TEs EARLY and OFTEN in games in the passing game. Gilmore,Mad Maxx, Boyle our best receiving options outside Smith Sr... Last game Trestman and Harbs didnt get them involved until too late. Our TEs should have every game somewhere in the neighborhood 10 to15 catches, 100 to 150 yards and a couple TDs.

Use what good to great weapons we do have instead of waiting until the game is on the line or its over.

The offense looked so much better when our TE'S where actually a read for Flacco on the play. I don't understand people and their fascinations about us having multiple wr's over 1000 yds. Our tight ends are absolutely better options than our wide receivers.

  3. Yes... because no other qb in the NFL gets hurried or has receivers let them down. NOBODY is exonerating the o-line or receivers! But as an NFL qb you never get a PASS for having a 38.2 qb rating. And if it offends you that people say your qb played horribly on a game RECAP page... when he had a 38.2 qb rating.. Then I pray Joe Flacco is giving you a cut of that 120 million for going out of your way to make excuses for him. I'm not calling for his job... just acknowledging that he had the worst qb rating in the NFL this week.. by far.

  4. Upshaw is good at one thing and one thing only.. Stopping the run. He's damn good at it but it's all he's good for.

Well we still have Zadarius to bring in on pass rush situations. Or bringing in a FA would be options first before switching your base defense this early in. I would keep the base but switch the sub defense to a 3-3 using similar lineup to the one you mentioned.

  5. People are looking at this all wrong. we don't need another pass rushing 3-4 olb. we need another run stuffing olb. We have zadarius and Doom. Neither are really committed run stoppers. So unless you want to drain Doom you need Upshaw and add another player to play 1st and 2nd down to keep the pass rushers fresh.

  6. The Good: Dean Pees actually making an adjustment after getting beat a little in the first quarter. Allen ran the ball well after a disappointing preseason. Brandon William was a MONSTER. Secondary was on point most of the game. Koch punted some good balls. CJ Mosley had moments.

The Bad: Entire Offense... Coaching staff included. Marc Trestman handcuffed him the entire first half with his awful play calling. Yet another year where we will not pass for over 200 yards against ANY team with an above secondary that plays press man coverage. Not ONE screen... not ONE shot deep down the field... no rub routes... nothing that other NFL offenses use to counter press. We just gave up as soon as they didn't play the soft zone coverage Joe sees 75% of the time in practice.

The Ugly: Offense Line was just HORRIBLE. Wide Receivers played like the worst in the NFL.

The Heartbreaking: Suggs out.. just ouch.

  7. 1. First of all these games happen stuff happens, we have seen this before. They show up lay an egg come back and do better the next week. These are professionals on a good team that knows how to come back from this. We lacked in discipline and communication, like most losses this team has put together they lacked in those two things. Its that simple burn the tape nothing to see here. Plus its preseason who gives a hoot. 2.This is a superbowl ready squad. Yep I said it we have one of the deepest rosters in the league and the most talented. We are going to hoist the trophy at the end of the year mark my words. We have a superbowl QB at the peak of his prime. We got the best o line best d line, one of the best line backing corps, best running game. Believe it or not we have a solid receiving corps. The secondary will be very solid this year. Despite injuries which I will get to. We have one of the top three rosters in the league and I stick by that despite that performance as explained in point # 1. 3. Injuries aren't that concerning really, every game like this has people go down and we think its the end of the world. In reality most will be back and kicking by week 1 in time for the season that counts. About half will be back next week to play in preseason week 3 which has the starters playing the longest. Even perriman's injury isn't that big a deal, yeah it might take a little while longer to get him into the system but the second he steps on the field opposing defenses have to respect him. We are fine.

Please elaborate on best d line?!.... Not arguing with anything else you said, but i'd love to hear your defense of that statement. lol

  8. My short story after watching the first half 3 times...

On Defense...I don't understand many things from this game.

First and foremost the 2-4 is not a good base nickel defense with the DL we currently have on the roster(no dominant 3-4 DE Ngata, Mcphee). I would personally run 3-3 and move D. Smith outside on third downs. Daryl Smith played like a rookie mlb, jumping the first route  to come across the middle only to leavehe middle WIDE open for any other receiver crossing into the middle of the field. Playing in the same gap as the dl a couple of times.  Then there is Dean Pees... I was completely lost at what his planning or thought process was for most of the game. He kept overloading to the weak side in their shotgun formations, only to have them run to the strong side where there was no one there to impede the ol from getting to our mlb's.

Daryl Smith played like a rookie mlb, jumping the first route  to come across the middle only to leave the middle WIDE open for any other receiver crossing into the middle of the field. Playing in the same gap as the dl a couple of times. Timmy Jernigan looks utterly disinterested in anything that does not involve rushing the passer... Brandon Williams is a NT and nothing else, so why does Pees keep trying him at 3-4 DE. CJ Mosley is going to have be the savior of this front 7 run defense against most option offenses. Lawrence Guy is probably our best overall DL at this point. Our secondary can be really good if our lb's show at least a little interest in helping out across the middle. Will Hill played horrible but it's only one game. Carl Davis and Zadarius look decent... it'll take at least another year before they are impact players. Rashaan Melvin is Cary Williams 2.0... Tray Walker is my favorite rookie because he's the only other big strong corner besides jimmy smith. Arrington is hot and cold, but an upgrade nonetheless! Without Mcphee, Suggs is going to bring his A game on a much more consistent basis in the pass rush department. Doom...is still Doom. Upshaw does a good job setting the edge, but rarely does anything else. I don't see a competition at mlb that everyone else does... Arthur Brown is by far and away better than Orr and Mcllelan, maybe not at special teams which is important as a backup, but at actually playing Mlb... go watch the film and i'll leave it at that.

On Offense... I would put no stock into this film because 1.) Trestman was trying to test his running potential against a very underrated eagles front 7 2.) They never got the tight ends involved in the first half, which i'd like to think won't be the case in real games 3.) The flats were open all game and flacco almost seemingly intentionally ignored it (after lighting up the saints in the flats on the first drive last week) 4.) Osemele, Zuttah, and Wagner were out (Zuttah played later...idk if he got benched or what?!)

Otherwise Joe Flacco learned nothing from the Patriots loss a year ago. He continues to take unnecessary chances downfield on EARLY downs into tight coverage. Steve smith was wide open on the first interception on 1st down btw... but he decides to chuck it 50 yards into tight coverage to kamar aiken who cannot be considered a deep threat at this point. Which leads to my next point... Where are our deep threats at wr? We have a logjam of possession wr's... like 8 or 9 to be exact. This would be fine, except for the fact that Joe Flacco is never going to stop throwing the deep ball because of his amazing arm strength. So if Perriman isn't ready to go it could be a really bad first half of season with all the road games they have.

Overall, a bad game for the offense, mainly Joe Flacco. I expect them (him) to be better next game. Defense is worrisome, against runs out of shotgun we looked especially clueless and helpless. San Fransico, Seattle, Cincy, Denver (week 1), KC all love to run out of shotgun. I have no doubt in their ability to stop traditional offenses, with FB's going extinct Pees has to learn how to stop the modern running game.
