  1. The numbers were released this week and the NFL pins them between $147-154 Million. These numbers typically run a bit low, so expectations are seemingly based around the $154 million number. According to Brian McFarland (does he post here?) this is where we stand before any cuts or restructures happen. So, where do we go from here? Thoughts? @RavensSalaryCap With ERFA/RFA tenders in place (but still prior to cuts), Ravens would be estimated to be ~$364K under Cap.
  2. Mallet is no Flacco. He'll be a great backup and could easily start for a QB-needy team. That it, that's all. Unless we're all watching a different NFL in bizzaro world... Flacco has been, and will be the core of the Ravens. Joe has been money since his rookie season, and Mallet's sample-size is smaller than Clausen's head.
  3. Draft picks might last for a couple years. Knocking the Steelers out of the playoffs will be remembered forever.
  4. It's simple. Win all 8 home games, and steal 2-3 on the road. Do this and chances are good.
  5. Screw draft picks. We completely handicapped the Steeler's chances at the playoffs.
  6. Comparing Mallet to Flacco is pretty silly. Especially based on the sample size for Mallet. Mallet is good trade bait and could start for an NFL team. Either that or he's Joe's back-up. End of story.
  7. As far as Pees goes, I think the FO is just waiting for the season to end. They'll move on, and start looking for someone who build the next great D. That's one thing I've grown to respect about the franchise... Outside of the Cam firing, they don't knee-jerk and there's no need to in a lost season. Pees will find work elsewhere. Rightfully so, as he could be competent with the right players. The offense was still working under Kubiak's playbook, and Trestman will get a chance to use his own next year. I don't think the O is a problem when healthy... But, the D can't give up leads. Biscotti and Harbs have acknowledged this, and we may see a surprising hire for the DC.
  8. Someone email this to the front office.
  9. I don't disagree at all, I just feel like that's going to be the outcome lol. Like you said... We broke. Even freeing up 10 mil, I'm not sure enough will be there to get someone like Garcon. I would love that though.
  10. I have a feeling we're going into next season with SSS, BP, Aiken, Butler, Camp and a draft pick. They might go after a budget WR, but I think they're going to put FA money into the D. Could be wrong, but if those guys are healthy it might not be so bad. BIG IF.
  11. The self-victimization is coming on a little strong here. Right or wrong, it doesn't mean much in the end. The people running this team have way more knowledge and information to make critical decisions than anyone posting here.
  12. Not disagreeing that the situation hasn't been ideal, but something does need to change. The willingness to settle for average is not something this team should be setting itself up for. Injuries, or not.
  13. I've never been a fan of Pees. The drop-off was noticeable as soon as he took over. Let's not forget that he did have Suggs, Ray, Ed in 2012, and still had trouble closing out games. While he's had some bright spots (2013 partially, 2014 before injuries) he has been very inconsistent. That said, this team is still lacking talent at key positions, and injuries have derailed back-to-back seasons now. I think change is on the horizon with this defense. Many of us grew up with one of the most dominant Ds in NFL history, and are now watching one of the worst. Refs/rule changes, etc all go into this too, but I think it's time for a change. If I had to pick another ... It would be a really punishing run game. I miss that too.
  14. Yeah, agreed. Aiken has developed on a level previously unseen by Raven WRs. He's a keeper. Didn't see much of Walker but I'm not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Za'Darius had a decent game, Daniel Brown had an ugly game. Buck fumbled away all momentum and immediately went into the doghouse. Butler had a decent game. Not many bright spots otherwise.
  15. Just one step closer to ending this abysmal seaon. 20th anniversary house-cleaning should be coming.
  16. Mallet is a good, forward-thinking move by the FO. Just look at the options out there. It keeps Mallet away from the Bengals, and gives the Ravens a back-up who has proven to be able to play at an NFL level. Also, he was Brady's backup for three years. Hopefully, he never sees the field in 2016.
  17. This move makes sense to the FO, likely because Mallet has proven he can play in the NFL. They see Renner every day, they know what he is capable of. I might be one of the few, but I like this move for 2016.
  18. Part of the problem is that we've rewarded good play with lengthy contracts. We paid for past performances. Webb, Monroe were both highly praised at the time of signing, but injuries wrecked them. Pitta was a big risk, imo and I hope we have learned from that. Rice... Well, oops.
  19. Is it possible that we did this just to troll the Bengals?
  20. In the modern era, ACL injuries do not impact contracts. Joe will take what makes him the most gtd money, but I think it'll be team friendly. You're right about Monroe's and pretty much everything else. The Pats are rolling with scrubs on the line. We have some pretty glaring coaching issues on both sides, but I think the offense is much closer to being competent. I don't think anyone is saying we should resign KO for sure, but it's obvious that they are testing the waters with the LT position. Keeping KO at either LG or LT will be near impossible with our cap next season, however, they must have something in mind other than driving up his cost? Or maybe that's just it.
  21. They still played bend don't break, and broke eight times. I take back solid. It was average at best.
  22. We've seen the same out of Pees since the day he came in the door. Bend don't break, which always breaks. It almost cost us a Super Bowl. It doesn't seem to matter the caliber of talent. He's had one solid year, 2013, and while injuries certainly don't help, and have caused a lot of problems... This defense needs identity. It has none. That is a coaching problem.
  23. Jimmy is not healthy, Webb plays better at S, but then keeps being moved to the outside. Arrington and Lewis just can't seem to keep up. Half the secondary is out of position. Hill is still good. Pees needs to be removed the day after the final whistle.
