  1. As far as immediate impact, I think Wallace, Watson & Weddle will be huge this season. Watson is a good RZ target, but Wallace gives back that speed which Torrey took to SF. If Perriman ever gets on the field, the combo of having to cover both Wallace and Perriman would be pretty daunting. However, just having Wallace is a big step up, if only for speed reasons. Weddle will change everything for this D. He's smart, quick, but maybe most importantly, he's showing that leadership gap we've been missing since 52/20 left. I think Young and Moore also see time and make an impact as the season progresses. I'm a big fan of the KC pick, love that he's being a menace already.
  2. Could just be a bruise. We're so hyper-sensitive to injuries now.
  3. –Victor Ochi is a rare sculpted rookie and the most likely UDFA to make the team. His high motor has drawn retaliation from some offensive lineman, including a brief scuffle with Anthony Fabiano today. He jumped offsides once, and lost the edge to Maxx Williams on a run left, but his size and leverage make him an intriguing pass rush option who could be effective against taller offensive tackles. The top end of low-center, high-motor, muscular edge rushers is James Harrison. We can always dream. http://russellstreetreport.com/2016/08/05/camp-notes/shady-day-football/ Sounds good.
  4. I'm split on this. Part of me agrees entirely, because that's what we do best. Fill the gaps of these positions with young, high upside players, while taking in a sweet comp pick. Part of me thinks we'll re-sign him because he's solid homegrown talent, and it's been a while since we've had that. A top tier contract probably fits easily in our plans for the future, but by letting him walk we could gain quite a bit more in the long-term.
  5. Just making it through TC relatively healthy is step 1. Pre-season, step 2. Then it's just a matter of staying healthy and getting back to the dance. Can't wait.
  6. Wait, so you're telling me that no one has pounced on an oft-injured LT, who commands more than his worth, and seems to be putting more time into his foundation rather than his ability to stay healthy? Color me surprised.
  7. I'll take Kubaik, Gruden, and Collinsworth's opinions on Flacco anyday over Carr's. Anyone still talking about Flacco being over-rated is just trying to drum up to same old garbage we've been hearing for years now. It's their job to create controversy, especially this time of year. Great work, if you can find it.
  8. Oz and Steve have noted that they saw what the Broncos did last year, and they are still big on defensive play. That said, I think we needed some depth on both sides. We'll always be looking for a deep and balanced team. It's how we won in 2012. I can't imagine Steve/Oz/Harbs are sitting there watching our defense blow games (for the better part of 3 seasons now), and thinking to themselves "if only we had more offensive power to keep up."
  9. For sure. I'm betting that they had a few closed door meetings with Stanley to let him know what is expected, and instill the confidence he needs to be the guy at LT. He's gonna do fine. Dude is a great pass protector, he's humble, and I'm sure he has exuded enough confidence for Oz/Harbs to put Monroe on the street.
  10. Yeah, this is how I've always seen it too, and it makes sense that Perriman would start more as a decoy rather than trying to be a legit #1/2. He's going to need to time with Joe to build up those reps and chemistry. That said, he's pretty valuable in that role alone, while it also allows him to start building up his own game for the future.
  11. Again, while cautious optimism is warranted, I am really pulling for this dude to make people eat their words.
  12. It's a shame really. I feel bad for the kid. Depressing to see him have this happen again, and worse to see "fans" pile on him and everyone else over an injury.
  13. Do you think they'll cut Monroe? I don't, personally... But a lot of people seem to think that he's gone as soon as his injury status is cleared. Not sure how comfortable I'd be with it, but if that's the case, then yeah we should be looking at Leary.
  14. I actually think I prefer Webb back there over Hill at this point. I'll probably eat those words soon enough, but Hill seemed to be really falling off and losing playtime as the defense progressed late last year. Agreed though that Weddle should be a big help, everyone staying healthy is key too. I'm cautiously optimistic about the secondary this season, but if Wright can play where he was at the end of last year, Powers/Young/Davis or Arrington steps up, and Jimmy regains his confidence... Yeah, we're gonna be in good shape. I would love to see Jimmy really play a full season at his potential.
  15. Agree with this almost word-for-word. Correa is our next Doom. While I expect him to make some impact right away, I think he'll be groomed right now for a similar role to Doom's. I think Correa's 'make it / break it' comes down to how much he can learn from Suggs/Doom this year and potentially next. I'm not oversold on many rookies, but he's a great pick if he can give us 70-80% of Doom's production entering his third year.
  16. Heh, isn't that the truth. Some are even haunted by decisions the front office makes.
  17. And here's the thing, the Ravens are slightly ahead of the curve on this right now. Public image can sway in an instant during the age of social media. While that carries some weight, the fact that a guy may be suspended carries even more weight. If you draft guys with a history like Tunsil, you're taking a risk and opening yourself up to heavy criticism. Sure, maybe he never gets in trouble... But if he does? Harbaugh has stated that you draft guys based on their play, their passion for the game, and how they they carry themselves off the field. If the Ravens take guys who are slightly more developmental, but have the desire and skill to be 110% better over the long run, while limiting the risk of both off-field issues and injuries, they have a really good chance at continuing a stable, winning franchise.
  18. If we took Ramsey and gave up our third, then we don't have Stanley or Kaufusi, both of whom play more critical positions right now. Ramsey means nothing without a good pass rush.
  19. Ahhh, that makes a lot of sense now. I would have been fine with Tunsil too, but yeah, the injuries, the video, the family drama... Just seems we made the better choice right now. We'll see how it pans out, but from what I've seen of Stanley, he's really good right now with plenty of room to grow.
  20. Yeah, it definitely was. Wouldn't surprise me if the Titans had Conkiln a number of spots below Tunsil on their board. But, they made whatever choice was best for them. Overall, I'm happy we didn't take Tunsil in hindsight.
  21. "Football Insider" Cecil Lammey in Denver had Conklin ahead of Stanley, and on par with Tunsil, but graded them all out pretty similarly. Only one person's opinion, but it was definitely out there.
  22. Yeah, for sure. This team when healthy had a floor of probably 7-8 wins LAST year. I'd say 8-8 to 11-5 is reasonable, but 9-7 is probable. This team is on its way back up though, I think the youth movement will serve us well post-2016.
  23. Benefits us no matter how you look at it. Tunsil could slide all the way to us, or we get one of the top D talents in this draft. The later was already likely, but this certainly solidifies that, and perhaps provides more options.
  24. Hmmm. I could see this happening. While probably not a popular choice, it makes a lot of sense for an offense with no true identity right now. People keep saying RB is now devalued, but if your RB is the focal point of your offense, that's certainly not the case. Run-first w/Flacco has already proven to be a winning formula. I miss those days of taking a solid lead and pounding the opposing defense into the ground and out of the game late in the second half.
  25. What's up with Elliot? I see Kiper now has him going as high as 6. I don't know enough about him to know if that's legit or not.
