  1. Don't get it twisted. Sunday is a must-win game. Leaving Pitt 0-4 Thursday night would be nearly impossible to overcome. Get 1 W on the board Sunday, then we can talk about getting to 3-4.
  2. If we start 2-3, and pull out a W on the west coast, then I think this team will be in an ok spot to rattle off some home wins. 3-4 isn't the worst place to be with a strong home schedule in the second half. The problem is that--all those teams late in the season will be good teams, looking for the same playoff berths we are. Sunday is a must win game.
  3. While this is true, we've seen the same exact play-calling for four seasons now. He is extremely vanilla, and his 1-2 brilliant games per season does not outweigh the obvious problems we see with his scheme. That's what bothers me the most, that I can sit there and watch the D be out of place, barely get any pressure, and play 10 yards off the recievers. Everyone sees it, and that's a big problem.
  4. Yes, they'll still post a solid 24 points a game, maybe slightly higher on average, but they will continue to struggle at times through out the season. It's hard to think they'll make a deep playoff run, but that defense could help them. The league will find ways to break them down eventually though.
  5. Congratulations. You read an article from last spring. This has been covered numerous times, and has been stated that his PCL injury has nothing to do with his adolescent condition. I just don't understand why our fanbase is so negative about everything.
  6. Really? A "bust" before he even plays a down. Give the guy a season or before you start putting him down. We haven't even seen him play a down in the NFL. That's not right. He's a first round draft pick with plenty of natural talent, and a high ceiling. Let's see how he does in a game (or ten) before putting a label on him.
  7. Choices are pretty limited. Can anyone name a younger, proven vet we should have taken instead?
  8. I get the frustration, but to say that Joe Flacco is one of the problems is just being petty. Boldin didn't top 1k yards, true. But he did win a SB, and last I checked that meant something. It's a team sport. I've lurked these boards for years, and I'm not sure I've ever seen you post something positive.
  9. Yes, that's correct. I edited it. Regardless, it hasn't been 8 weeks.
  10. He has a sprained PCL, which takes 6-8 weeks to heal. I don't know what people were expecting.
  11. So, basically a free draft pick. Nice.
  12. I think the Browns game is a good assumption. At the earliest, we might see him for the Bengals or Steelers, but the 10 day break after the Steelers game would be a logical assumption right now.
  13. Also in Denver... Do you get the feeling there's a lot less hype this year than there has been since Manning came along? Funny how that blind optimism was wrecked in both 2012 and 2013.
  14. A PCL sprain takes 6-8 weeks to fully heal. Perriman will likely take the entire eight weeks since he absolutely must be his speedy self before returning to the field. I wouldn't expect him back on the field until week 3 or 4. I know people are frustrated, but you cannot rush this dude back. You just can't. He'll be fine once he's back on the field. We're lucky the situation isn't as dire as some others around the NFL.
  15. Let's see it. Back it up. Anyone can call themselves a scientist, but you need to have verifiable data to back up a hypothesis.
  16. Couldn't agree more with this. Preseason is not a very good measuring stick in the NFL, and by all accounts it seems that more people are tuning in much earlier now, and coming away disappointed. Make no doubts about it, preseason has ALWAYS been this way. At times it can be atrostrious to even watch. But, it just doesn't matter all that much for the first teams. Preseason is all about the 2nd/3rd teams vying for a spot, and sometimes it makes for pretty terrible football. We have a solid, well-rounded team, and the rest of the NFL is well aware of the Ravens capabilities. I hate to say it, but week 1 might be a sloppy, and frustrating week of football for us. But, it might be that way for any team. As the season progresses, a healthy Ravens team will be a force in the NFL. And to be fair, there are not many (any?) great teams in the NFL right now. Just a solid amount of good teams. Let's save the concern for five weeks in—and even then—if 2012 taught us anything, it's that you should never give up on your team. Go Ravens.
  17. Sorry, but I don't see the justification for this. Boldin would have cost way more than this team was willing to pay, and would have done almost nothing to secure another championship. This is not MLB, where players can be signed for whatever price, and in turn teams can build contenders year-in, year-out. In fact, the only teams in the NFL who have perrenial contenders are those with great GMs, who understand the value of the 80/20 rule, and know when a players costs too much for their production. The 2013 season was the low point of the last eight seasons, and let's be honest, 8-8 after a SB win is not bad. In the NFL you get 1-3 year windows for each competitive team. To have a team which has competed for the last eight seasons is a rare gem in this league. There are very few teams who can hang in there year-after-year, and the Ravens are one of those teams. That reason? Ozzie Newsome, building through the draft, and understanding how the salary cap works.
  18. Maybe after next season, but I think they'll let him play out the rookie contract. There's no reason not to.
  19. Wasn't aware we had so many orthopedic doctors on this site.
  20. Or ya know, week 1.
  21. There's just no way Webb is going to be replaced when when healthy. Melvin might replace him when injured. But, Webb is going to start if he can go.
  22. TURRON DAVENPORT ‏@TDavenport_NFL 41m41 minutes agoSteve Smith just gave his gloves to an Eagles fan. Told the kid, "I know it's not the right colors."
  23. Yup, pretty strange news to be making the rounds two weeks after the fact. It's on today's LFW, and PFT was the first to report it last night.
  24. We might have one of the best OLs in the NFL, but we're certainly not the healthiest. I would love Urschel to become the next great lineman in Bmore, but like you state... His brain is his biggest asset, and he won't stick around for long if it becomes an issue, or he obtains multiple concussions. I hope we stay healthy.
