  1. I really hope this offense can come together. I am not sure how much SSSr has left in the tank, but figuring he is coming out of retirement for one more year because "he ain't goin' out like that, he ain't goin' out like that," leads me to believe you're going to get 150% of whatever he's got. Who knows what's going on with Perriman. After him you got Wallace and Aiken...maybe they're enough if the others go down with injuries along with Ben Watson and a mix of Gillmore and Williams. I'd love to see Campanaro on the field too, but he's always getting hurt. Ravens will draft a WR at some point, even if it is just a return specialist. The O-Line as it is currently constructed does leave room for worry. Health will be a huge factor to the overall success of the team in 2016, but really, that's not any great revelation.
  2. There is always a chance because at least one of the top two picks needs a QB of the future and then another team who maybe values the leftover guy more than the one that just got picked pulls the trigger and trades up to get their guy. RGIII is not even close to being a sure thing and with how fragile he is you better have a good back up plan. Most definitely the Browns go QB with their pick. Another poster asks why you would take a QB so high if you already have RGIII? There are several reasons for this and you can look at the Packers as to one reason. Even if RGIII does manage to work a miracle and look like the sensational rookie version of himself, who knows how long he can do it? You need a very talented guy that will have time to learn the system from one of the best QB coaches in all of football right now in Hue Jackson and becomes the foundation of your franchise in years to come. And that is the key word, talent. Generally speaking you expect a guy drafted in the first round to have a lot more talent than a guy drafter in the second or third. The only scenario when you don't do this is if for some reason you grade one of the other guys slotted to go lower in the draft close to or nearly the same as one of the top guys. In this draft there seems to be a pretty clear cut 1-2, everyone else is a tier below that.
  3. Clady has been a full time starter and 4 time pro bowler. He missed most of 2013 with a torn Lisfranc, played all of 2014, and then tore his ACL and missed all of 2015. Monroe played 11 games in 2014 and 6 in 2015 and at the time it seemed like the injuries might be bad enough to cost him his career. He's only played all 16 games of a season once. I wouldn't touch Clady as a trade candidate for his bloated contract. If some other team is stupid enough to trade for him then so be it. If he indeed does get cut then it wouldn't hurt for the Ravens to see what the market is for his services at that time. If you get him for the right price perhaps Clady becomes your LT and Monroe can slot over to LG or RT. Wagner becomes the back up tackle at that point. Of course if you know you are going to sign Clady you cut Monroe at that point if that is the move you want to make. You don't cut Monroe before you have Clady, that would just be stupid. There are bound to be more cap casualties and cuts during the off season so who knows who might be out there.
  4. Good news about Gillmore potentially. The labrum is such an odd part of the body and one of the worst injuries you can have to that part of the body is called a SLAP tear. Those are the ones that almost always require surgery. The other kinds are kind of like a 50/50 situation or less where surgery doesn't really guarantee an improvement. I just hope Gillmore is okay because he is a Raven to the core and I love seeing him on the field. I know Watson was brought in to start and if Williams develops he's probably the starter of the future, but you need a guy that can block. Waller, he's intriguing and I would love to see what he can do. If we really want another tight end I would love for the Ravens to take a guy named LaQuan McGowan as an UDFA. The guy is a 6'6'' 405lbs TE who used to be an offensive lineman. He makes one handed catches almost all the time and while he's not exactly fast, he can move rather well for a man his size and actually has moves..a juke and a dead leg type move. I doubt very seriously anyone will take him as a pick in the 7th round. The guy did 30 reps of the 225lbs. bench press which already makes him a lot stronger than "Mount" Cody. What really do you have to lose? Have him start working out to drop some of his weight, try him out at TE and give him a look at offensive line and he could even be a goal line full back.
  5. Seems to be two schools of thought on this potential move by the Ravens as far as Trent Richardson goes. This isn't the first time the Ravens have been mentioned as being interested in him so clearly they think his lack of production stems from something other than Trent Richardson. This also makes me think that perhaps their "deep" stable of running backs isn't exactly healthy yet. Forsett is coming off of a brutal broken arm, Taliafero was out all season with a foot injury and some suspect it might have been a Lisfranc like Jimmy Smith suffered. If that is the case even if he has recovered there might be another year before Taliafero is back up to speed like we saw with Jimmy. Buck Allen didn't really run all that well either and only scored 1TD on the ground, but was an amazing receiver out of the backfield. Terrence West was a late season pick up and didn't really wow anyone with his totals. So you kick the tires on Richardson who has a better resume than anyone currently on the roster other than Forsett. You can get him relatively cheap and at worst he might beat out West for the third RB slot and be the goal line pounder. You might even be able to use him in a split back set and he can act more like a full back. Remember the mantra people: Right player, right price. You really got nothing to lose and a lot to potentially gain here.
  6. I think Upshaw is much better than what we would more than likely get from a 5th round or later pick. He did a lot of the Dirty work. And there are guys that do the dirty work a lot better than Upshaw did. Namely the guy he replace in Jarrett Johnson. The Ravens got Pernell McPhee with a late pick like you bring up for some reason. You do know that Upshaw was a second round pick, not a late pick gem? I'd take my chances on a 3rd or 4th round pick to replace Upshaw in a heartbeat.
  7. You must not watch film. Upshaw has done a real good job for us. He is a very underrated player. We can only hope he comes back this year. You musn't watch film either. There are plenty of times when Upshaw fails to set the edge and it was actually exposed by the Browns of all teams who kept running counter plays. Instead of setting the edge and not allowing the play to come to him, Upshaw decided to rush the QB and completely missed the plays as the RB ran right by him. He's okay as a one dimensional player. He had his chance to be a full time starter this year and prove he's not a one trick pony. He failed to shine. You can find another player like him in the draft and you know, find one that might also be able to rush the QB a bit more without being late to the party all the time. Let some other team give him a raise. I'm not hoping he comes back. Remember this guy was a second round pick. He should be better than just okay.
  8. There is a slight problem to your theory and that is the fact that Marijuana is still illegal as a national crime under federal law, despite what individual states have ruled. So the NFL saying it is okay really doesn't matter when it is a federal crime.
  9. There is some talent in this draft for sure, but it doesn't really seem to be that deep. Even Tunsil the top choice at Tackle rates out as a 7.7 out of 10. While he has great feet it seems he lacks the punch of a Jon Ogden and he can get bull rushed. Of course he can fix that by hitting the weight room and maybe with better technique. There is a clear cut second in Staley, but he's got a few more knocks on him. After that everyone else is pretty much a project. I think it is really going to depend on how the top part of the draft shakes out, if the Ravens are willing to trade up, and/or which Tackle is left when the Ravens pick at 6. I don't know if the second best left tackle in the draft is worth the #6 pick overall. There are plenty of defensive players to choose from, but I am not sold on Jack because of his knee. Looks like he's getting a lot of his speed and athleticism back, but my main focus will be on his agility. That has to be a major concern for a guy who has "flying around the field" as the main part of his arsenal. It has to be a question based on the type of injury to his knee. I am not sure the issues will be addressed with the first and second pick of the draft, but I am sure they will get addressed in the draft or via a crafty Ozzie under the radar FA signing.
  10. Learning curve to the site? Are you meaning this to say that the users (people like me) have to learn how to use this site? Because if so I take some umbrage to that comment. I've been using the net for quite some time and I think I know how to use it fairly well. This has more to do with a design that is flawed and an overall visual aesthetic that is not very pleasing to the eye. The interface is less user friendly than before and as others have said, sorting options are more limited now. If you meant this from a design side, well, that's what you hire programmers and engineers to do. There should be no learning curve unless you hired three guys in their basement to do your project for you instead of an established company that has done this sort of thing many times over.
  11. Are the Ravens gettin' snaggy with it?
  12. It is absolutely clear from how he is facing a 10 game suspension that this infraction was for weed. His previous two infractions were for weed. His first one was for Adderall. I'd support you notion a bit more if this was a once and "whoops, I didn't know..." kinda thing. Even then I am dubious of players that make that claim. The NFl gives everyone the list of what is banned. Team doctors should be held accountable for knowing this list. If you are a pro athlete and you have no idea what you are putting into your body would you not then go to your team doctor to find out? At any rate, in Hill's case we're talking about 4 times he messed up. They weren't four dumb mistakes. He's got a problem with the chronic and it may just have cost him a very lucrative job in the NFL.
  13. I don't wish ill on anyone, but I honestly think Will Hill wrote his ticket out of the NFL. This isn't the first time he's been in trouble. It is the fourth. He was suspended 3 times before he got to Baltimore. In fact, we got him on the heels of a suspension. At least one of those suspensions; the first one in fact, was for Adderral which is considered a PED. Because this is his 4th offense and a 10 game suspension instead of a 1 year one we can deduce that the substance in question was pot thanks to the clever way the NFLPA has outlined its substance abuse policy. If you are in stage three of the program; which we know Hill was, and your first offense while in stage three is for Marijuana...you get a 10 game suspension instead of a 1 year one. He probably won't sign on with any team in 2016. He's still young enough and potentially good enough to latch on with another team after he keeps himself clean in 2016, but he's gonna be on a real short leash. Teams might not be willing to risk the prospect of losing him for a year if he slips up again. If that does happen he is surely done in the NFL at least.
  14. Charles Woodson is listed as 6'1'' 200lbs. Webb is 5'10'' if his cleats are on a hard floor and 179lbs. He might add a bit more bulk since he's moving. I could see him playing around 185 or 190. There was another Woodson who actually used to play for the Ravens who was one of the most dynamic corners in the league and return man in the NFL. He then reached his 30's and when he lost a step he became one of the best free safeties to play the game....and that would be former Steeler, 49er, Raven, and Raider Rod Woodson. All he did was lead the league in interceptions at his new position of safety twice in his mid to late 30's and go on to the Hall of Fame. I am not saying Webb is Woodson, very few players are. But there is a tradition of corners reaching a certain stage of their career and dropping back to safety. Webb's age isn't the issue, but he was clearly ailing from his knee surgeries and a back issue that's sprung up the last couple of years. If he has lost some quickness or agility it is due to injuries and not his age. He does have ball hawking instincts because at one time I thought he was our best corner and when Jimmy Smith finally came into his own I thought we had an amazing tandem in waiting. He's always been a good, fundamentally sound tackler. He doesn't try to blow up people, he instead does his job and tries to tackle them.
  15. I hear you. Losing Osemele was a big blow to our O-line that is already looking suspect on the left side thanks to the health questions surrounding Monroe. The Ravens haven't been linked to anyone on the market other than Vlad Ducasse (guard) coming in for a visit. Either they must know Monroe is relatively healthy and they are alright with the depth we have a guard, or they are planning some draft moves that might see them moving around to get Tunsil who is the consensus can't miss franchise LT. We also need to hope Wagner returns more to his 2014 form than his 2015 form. My concern about the linebackers is the age. We're old at OLB and the depth just hasn't shown much so far. ILB looked decent while Mosley and Orr were out there, Ravens will be snooping the FA market for a bargain+upside guy I am sure. Smith may be back on a cheaper deal for another year. We have to remember Mosley was coming off of a hand injury. Though he won't make excuses for himself, I have to imagine it is hard to tackle with one hand.
  16. I've got to say that I don't like how I have to essentially log in three times to actually see the reply, quote, and thumbs up and down options. Looks like they tried too hard to get this to look like Twitter and work on tablets and phones, but it looks like a hot mess on my PC.
  17. Um.....what? Will Hill, is that you? We brought Will Hill in on the heels of a drug suspension to give him his second second chance. He straightened up and flew right until he got himself a pay day. The guy was 17th in all of football safeties last year. Not top 10, not top 5. Even then he was a flawed player. Ain't no other team scooping him up now. He's got to wait 10 weeks before he can even play for a team. One more suspension and he's gone for good. The ship has sailed for a marginal player. If he was elite, then perhaps he gets a third second chance.
  18. Did you miss the whole "WILL HILL WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR 10 GAMES NEXT SEASON" part? That means he can't play until week 11 and at best he'd be playing 6 games the whole season. I think you need to watch some more tape of Weddle before you decide if he's a big hitter or not, but even without that Weddle caused as many forced fumbles in 2014 as Will Hill has his entire career. Despite being rated the best safety on the team, he was still rated 17th overall. How many teams are there in the NFL? So if your best guy is 17th and then benched because he's letting up too many plays...I think that tells you where your defense is. Webb is a better tackler than people give him credit for. If he's the one that has to tackle the RB all the time, then something's wrong up front and that ain't his fault.
  19. Will "Hippy Lettuce" Hill doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?
  20. Been pondering that possibility too, all the guy does is pick off passes all day long. Has to be some reason why teams are shying away from him when guys like Raheem Moore get big deals after completely tanking last year. Yeah, the Raheem Moore that got completely toasted by Jacoby Jones on the Joe Flacco miracle pass in the playoffs. But with all the safeties we have still on the roster, making a move for Nelson doesn't make sense unless he falls through the cracks and comes on a real cheap deal...in which case...goodbye Kendrick Lewis and Terrence Brooks. c'mon man it wasnt a miracle pass 70 yards down the field to win the game...yeah, I would say that was a miracle pass alright.
  21. I besmirch nothing.......people were calling Hill that here. No big deal. Because people can't be original. Given his track record it could be Will "The Pill" Hill. My comment before was made a bit in jest, but Will Clark was one heck of a baseball player. Even when he was totally over the hill with Baltimore he was putting up impressive numbers.
  22. If they trade up it will be to get Tunsil, the best LT in the draft and perhaps one of the best players in the draft.
  23. Looks like the only chance he'd get legitimately to play LT is in Pittsburgh or possibly Denver if they move Clady over. Every other team that is interested in him would probably move him to RT. Okung has played in more games the last two seasons than Monroe. 14 in 2014 and 13 in 2015. There already seems to be about 4-5 teams in the mix so the market is probably too hot for the Ravens.
  24. According to the last estimate I saw prior to this cut, this means the Ravens now have about $10 million under the cap. Does this now give them a chance to make a run at Russel Okung for LT? I know the dots haven't been made but it is expected that after coming off of an injury and as he's representing himself that he might come as a relative bargain for a starting LT. I guess it really depends on the health of Monroe, what Okung's offers look like, and if the Ravens can do something with Monroe's contract other than eat it and have huge dead money.
  25. Been pondering that possibility too, all the guy does is pick off passes all day long. Has to be some reason why teams are shying away from him when guys like Raheem Moore get big deals after completely tanking last year.
