A few notes to all:
To Ryan Mink and the rest of the PR team: we get it, it's your job to create good press for the team, but you yourself said the team needs a flashy defensive star to reinvigorate that lost swagger.
To the "only-time-will-tell" set: I get this, too. The Ravens drafted lots of players unknown to the rest of us. Players that will need a season or two to develop. The problem with this is that this was expected when the Ravens were in the playoffs every year and drafting at the end of each round. It's not easy to accept this mantra when they have the 6th overall pick and for months (and especially after the Titans and Browns traded down), we kept reading about how the Ravens were guaranteed to get a defensive playmaker and how they essentially had two first round picks this year. The Ravens failed to trade up to get Ramsey and then drafted an LT, who was ranked the second-best at his position by MOST draftniks. It's hard to accept that with the #6 (effectively #4) overall pick, the Ravens get a non-stat producing offensive lineman. Then, with the 5th pick of the second round (36th overall and therefore effectively the 4th pick of the 2nd round thanks to the Patriots shenanigans), they pass on a highly-ranked, big-name, albeit injured (yet doctors said earlier that day that he would NOT need microsurgery), defensive playmaker who would have been a day-1 starter. He was gold falling from the sky and Ozzie passed. Then, we're like "well, Spence is on the board still, I've heard of him," but they trade down again, and lose out on him. He did ecstasy, so what? He cleaned up. What followed was the drafting of tons of players most of us had never heard of. Yes, I get that they're the ones studying college players year-round, but more often than not, 4th and later round draftees don't become starters in the first two seasons, and this team needed more than just one day-one starter from this draft.
To all the overly critical, angry fans: it's just a damn game.
The Ravens (for their purposes) now have pick #4 in the draft.
I know the Ravens go "best player available" (usually), but here's my logic to the pick:
Positions of need:
OL (LT and LG): If Ravens draft Tunsil, where does he play? Do they work him onto the field at LG first? LT? If LT, where does Monroe play?
RUSH/OLB: Yes, Sizzle and Doom are in their 30s. But do you actually sit/cut either of them in 2016? Do you spend pick #6 on someone who won't be an every-down OLB while Suggs and Dumervil are still on the roster?
DL (interior): With Canty gone, there's a spot to fill. Is there someone on the roster who is ready to start in 2016? K L-M?
ILB: Daryl Smith was cut. Zach Orr might not be a big name, but he showed talent playing ILB last year. He might be an immediate replacement.
DB/CB: Weddle is going to start. Do the Ravens trust Webb enough to start him next to Weddle? Is he trade bait? Post-June 1-cut? What about Brooks? Beuhler? Beuhler? I don't really trust Webb any more. Who starts opposite Jimmy Smith?
So, I see the Ravens' highest need(s) as (in order):
DB
LT
DL
ILB
OLB
The best players in the draft (as ranked by NFL.com):
Tunsil (LT)
Jack (ILB) [injury question]
Buckner (DL) (had more sacks than Ramsey)
Elliot (RB)
Ramsey (DB)
Bosa (OLB/RUSH)
My 3-5 Predictions
Chargers: Ramsey (They cut Weddle and need a new franchise safety)
Cowboys: Bosa or Elliot
Jaguars: Jack
Which leaves the Ravens choosing from:
Tunsil
Buckner
Elliot or Bosa
Matching best player available to need, I predict the Ravens select Laremy Tunsil.
If they consider need a little more, I predict they take BucknerI agree and a LT seems the likely choice. I see Cowboys selecting Bosa. I would be shocked otherwise.
I wouldn't be shocked if they took Elliot. I'm sure Jerry is hearing a lot about how he might be the next Adrian Peterson.
But then again, he's probably also heard Bosa referred to as the next JJ Watt.
if jalen ramsey is there at 4 we need to make a trade with dallas and move up to get him.
If only we had another 2nd round pick than l would trade with San Diego to get Ramsey because if San Diego wanted Tunsil they could still get him at 6. Dallas and Jacksonville are not interested in Tunsil. If the Ravens would've trade up the Chargers would've been the perfect trade partner because they would probably end up with Tunsil any way at number 6. But by not having a extra second round pick, l see this very unlikely.
I don't think any player is worth trading up for this year. Neither Wentz nor Goff are considered #1 or #2 picks and teams just mortgaged their near futures for them. I think the Ravens are in great shape at #6, which is, as I stated before, essentially pick #4. They're going to get an excellent player that will, to varying degrees depending on who it is, will fill a need on the roster. I think I'd much rather see the Ravens try to get rid of 2 4th rounders and their 6th for another 2nd round pick.
I'm sorry but am I the only one that doesn't understand how the Browns-Eagles trade impacts the Ravens? The Browns were going to draft a QB anyway, just like the Eagles most likely will now. What changed? I would add that if anything there's a slight chance the second pick won't be a QB because it is a little suspicious that the Eagles traded so much and they weren't even sure which QB they would be getting. There exists an outside possibility that they are interested in drafting another position (LT perhaps now that the Titans have traded out or maybe even Jalen Ramsey) and that is why they traded up.
The Browns weren't a lock at taking a QB. They still might take Lynch if they can. With new leadership, they might be making smarter decisions. They need a lot of upgrades across their roster and it appears that it is worth more to them to have more draft picks to build the team than to draft a QB at #2.

I'm still betting one of those defensive picks are around at #6. Don't forget the Brownies & jerry Jones pick ahead of us, so who knows what either will do, but one if not both will do something unpredictable and probably foolish.
Hopefully both will pick at a position the Ravens aren't targeting. Maybe the Browns will be the Browns and select a QB with pick #2. Maybe Jerry will pick Elliott with pick #4. That would make #6 better.
Oz is the best at keeping fa and draft picks close to the vest....We all know his draft board has at least 10-15 players that he would pick at #6....Can't wait for the draft....
I don't think there are 10-15 players he'd spend the 6th pick on. I think he's thinking that he needs to get a prow-bowl-calibre, immediate difference-maker, top-at-his-position player.
I think almost every player picked in the top 10 have been starters, so i wouldn't be so sure of that.....
Have been starters in college isn't the same as being a starter in the NFL. My point being that, if there's 10-15 players that can be immediate difference makers and start in the NFL for the Ravens, those that Ozzy grade as being less than the 6th (or 7th or 8th) pick would likely make him trade down and get a player at the spot he values them at. The Ravens got CJ Moseley (immediate starter and impact maker, Pro Bowl in rookie season) for pick #17. Had they been at pick #6 in 2014, I don't think they would have spent it on him. They would have either used it on someone they graded higher or traded down to get him at a lower spot.
didn't say starters in college, they have started in the N.FL when drafted top 10.....
I misunderstood you. I don't know stats, but players taken in draft spots 1-15 have had a lot of busts, too, and not the kind in Canton.
Dear Ozzie and Eric: Trade pick #6, Lardarius Webb, and Matt Elam to the Titans for pick #1 and draft Jalen Ramsey, your next Hall-of-Fame DB (safety).
No way. No how. Really don't think that would work out. We have never done anything like that before (if memory serves me correctly) and I don't think that would happen now.
Just wishful thinking. I think Ramsey is going to be a great DB in the NFL. The signing of Weddle and how high draftniks predict Ramsey to be picked tells me they certainly aren't planing to get him or be able to get him anyway.

It's the Browns. It's RG3. He was signed to be QB1. I will be shocked if they use pick #2 on a QB to challenge a recently signed QB who likely wasn't interested in signing to a team that was going to make him sincerely compete for the starting job. QB Jesus was signed to save the Browns from their misery.
Note its a 2 year contract, and when the details come out, I'd bet it'll be a smaller deal with very little guaranteed money.
Basically... not the kind of deal you sign a player to that is expected to save the franchise.
Good point.

One step closer to Ravens likely trading down: RG3 to sign with Browns. The only team in the top-5 who would possibly draft a QB is now the Cowboys. 4-5 non-QBs will go and the Ravens will likely be unable to draft a player who not only plays a position of need, but is the top prospect at their position.
Just because the Browns are signing RG3 does not mean they are not drafting a QB at 2. With RG3's injury history and inconsistent play, you can't think he is the answer to your problems. They will probably release McCown and I believe Jackson will want to get in a young talent that he can mold to his liking.
And if the Browns don't take a QB, I still believe there will be at least 2-3 teams that will be wanting to jump above the #7 pick a snatch the QB of their liking before SF.

Based on the four most recent mock drafts on nfl.com and taking into account the Browns signing RG3, the Ravens are likely to see Ramsey, Tunsil, Buckner, Jack, and possibly Bosa off the board. They represent the top-graded players at DB, OT, DE, OLB, and DE (2nd highest) respectively--the Ravens top needs.

Why is it hard to be excited about a draft, in which the highlight was the 4th round?
"The Ravens have had mixed success in the fourth round over the years. The last full-time starter they picked in the fourth round was center Jason Brown (2005). The only fourth-round pick since Jarret Johnson (2003) to get a second contract in Baltimore has been tight end Dennis Pitta (2010).
Baltimore is hoping this class breaks that trend." - Ryan Mink
