He was potentially more than that. He was a 5th round pick who ran a 4.35 40...
well to be fair, what round he was originally drafted (actually the 6th) in is pretty much irrelevant 3.5 years in. And we aren't lacking in speed at WR so his 40 time is nice and all but how fast he can run in a straight line isn't much of an indicator of ability at all
I have no doubt in my mind that SSS fully intends to play out his contract before retiring. Considering there's only two years on the contract there's no real reason to hang it up with only a year left.
Pretty amazing that he has yet to make even a pro bowl. Considering just how great he's been over the years this is a shining example of how much of a popularity contest the pro bowl is nowadays and why fans should get no vote whatsoever, but i digress. At least he's been a PFF all pro twice...
Tally is looking good, he looks like he wants that backup job. And if you ask me I believe he will be the #2 if only for this year. He showed flashes last year and looking at him right now it looks like he wants to take that next step. Actually it sorta looks like everyone wants that, just the other day we got an article about Jernigan shedding some lbs and putting in the work. It would seem this team is destined for great things this year.
Interesting that Joe is a Ninja Warrior fan. Pro football players have tried it with varying degrees success. Mostly, football players have too much mass to last the course without their arms giving out. Great athleticism of contestants, a different type of athlete worth admiring. Glad Joe is a fan. You can see some amazing feats. Even world class athletes like Joe can't do the courses as well, mostly due to body type. If you haven't watched the show, you may not want to start....cuz you will find yourself tuning in each week, addicted
I believe a few years back a Broncos WR actually made it through the qualifying course only to get knocked out by his time. It was hilarious, he was so much more massive than any of the other guys there and just brute forced his way through lots of the obstacles
Is it just me, or is Flacco looking leaner and meaner than usual in the article photo?
Wasn't there an article earlier this offseason about him doing American Ninja Warrior training or something like that?
Nice to finally get some recognition but I feel myself really missing the underdog role...seems we thrive in it. We'll see if Vaughn will make the final 53, looks like he's competing with Asa for a spot, it's a toss up between the two in my opinion, it'll be a tough battle to watch for the rest of the offseason.
There is not enough history on guys like Aiken and Camp to sugguest they will just be better the next season. I as much as anyone else am excite about the potential talent of guys like Brown, Aiken and Camp, but lets be real here. None of those guys did anything particularly special that makes you say "ok we know exactly what to expect from that guy going forward". As much as i think Marlon Brown will have a large impact this year, he can suffer the same fate as Tandon Doss who just couldn't put it together and got cut.
Speaking of Doss he basically had the same type of production in 2013 as Aiken last year and far more success as a WR and returner then Camp and he was cut. So for people thinking that a guy like Aiken is safe, he's not. Now i'm not saying Worthy will push Aiken off the roster, what I'm saying is there is room for 3-6 and maybe even 7 because nobody has those spots locked
Don't know why you keep bringing up Camp, I don't think Camp will make the roster either, but if he does indeed get cut/IRed/PSed then I'll bet the FO will look to keep a slot guy in his place, i.e. Carter. "Let's be real" Aiken and Brown aren't going anywhere, both are proven targets, the FO won't throw them under the bus for an extra UDFA. Nobodies acting like Aiken is a legend, you're acting like he's a bum and is seriously in danger of being cut....he's not, don't know what you have against him but he's got everything you want out of a receiver and actually produces when on the field.
Sure Brown had roughly the same stats as Doss last year, but how about before that? Brown's first year was far better than anything Doss ever did, not to mention Doss started two games his last year and Brown "started" only one last year. Doss is such a terrible comparison to both of them. Not enough history on Aiken to show he'll improve? are you serious? his career arc so far shows exponential growth going from a practice squader to competing for playing time
I want to see Striker play next year. I was watching some of his tape and to be completely honest I wasn't too impressed, maybe a mid rounder to me.
My pick to surprise as the udfa WR to make the team.
I don't know if there's room for him unfortunately. Reminds me of Aiken, much like Aiken i think he'll have to spend year 1 on the PS and give it another go next year.
I think this is the potentially best WR corps on paper we've ever had.
Crazy part is we're working with a 36 year old, 2 UDFAs, 2 rookies, and a competition involving a 7th rounder and a couple UDFA rookies. Ozzie may not have a shining record with drafting receivers but somehow he's given us a great corps with a bunch of nobodies + a 36 yo Steve Smith. If anyone still doesn't trust Ozzie then they need their head examined quickly...
Referring to him as a "bum" is a little off base as well then. Seeing that he isn't a number 2 corner... he has made the most of his playing time getting 2 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 7 interceptions and two pick sixes over 5 years.
How do you consider someone who has produced in the NFL as depth? Chuck Pagano was comfortable enough using him as his #2 corner back when they made the playoffs.
I love Melvin because he is the prototypical size as a starter... this guy is a slot sub package dude.
Which was my whole point.
I said IT SEEMS he is an amazing sub package player from his stats... so dissect what you want, his numbers tell a different story. He's gotten 7 picks over the last 4 years coming off the bench.
Being a part of a good secondary does mean something... It promotes a winning attitude and I'm sure the "bums" you're referring to landed in Oakland or Tampa Bay or another "bum" team.
I said he has good taste.. Broncos, Indianapolis, Detriot with Caldwell and now the Ravens. He was on the Broncos team that carried Tim Tebow to the playoffs. Top 5 defense. But hey what does any of that mean...
I at no point referred to him as a bum, i said plenty of bums have played with great CB talent, i never said he was. Don't rely on numbers, stats lie big time, go actually watch him play and you'll see, guy's ok, nothing more. He'll grab you a pick then turn around and give up a big play. It's good that he picks to play with contenders but the fact that he's played for 3 separate teams over 5 years isn't because he's a priority FA. And take second look at the three teams he's been on, all 3 are known for sub par secondaries...
I'm not saying the guy is bad or a "bum," I'm not saying he can't make the roster or won't be any good, all I'm saying is that acting like he's some sort of god send and is "amazing" is naive
not even close. He's good depth and that is it.
I'd say he is #6 behind, Smith, Webb, Arrington (Slot), Jackson, Melvin, and then Vaughn
and, unfortunately for him, you have to push him down another spot because it's unlikely we'll let Walker go
As far as coaching staffs go its hard to say, we've got a new offensive coordinator, steelers have a new defensive coordinator, Browns have a new offensive coordinator, and i don't have faith in the Bengals defensive coordinator at all. I think its a race between us and (surprisingly) the Browns, but i think pretty much making Shanahan go was a mistake (guy is directly responsible for making Hoyer a serviceable QB and the Browns a [brief] contender before their collapse). Since their new OC is an unknown I'm going to give it to us for now
Here's a better question...who has the best coaching in the division? We've got a damn fine coaching staff but so do other teams as well. It's not easily decided. I would say we have the best, but I can't say that without possible bias.
I have to say Harbaugh by quite a large margin. Marvin Lewis is good and all but those playoff appearances hurt him considering how long he's been there and plenty of times he's had really good teams overall. Its too early to even consider Pettine as better but he's doing a really good job so far, give him a QB and that Browns team is pretty scary. Tomlin has to be the closest but even Steelers fans are getting fed up with him and say most of his success comes from Cowher's left overs. That paired with the Steelers' past few years - lost in the first playoff game last year and 2 8-8 seasons before that - i think shows Harbaugh is the best in the division. And I'm still not over him stepping on the field (clearly on purpose - he's been a coach in the NFL since 2001 and somehow he doesn't know where to stand, and how convenient he forgot during a clear touchdown return...).
How about Josh Gordon? I think he could easily be the best wideout in the division if he ever played but we're talking pure playing ability here not playing time so i think Gordon should be on these lists
He's already our 4th best option at corner.. He has played next to great corners and has been on winning teams. It seems he is an amazing sub-package player that can step up when needed.
Something we desperately needed last year!
That's debatable. He's ok, saying he's "amazing in sub packages" is a stretch. I'd easily put Melvin above him in the pecking order so he'll be competing with Asa for a spot and between the two its a toss up. And saying he's played with some good corners doesn't say much about him, there's lots of bums that have played with great corners. He's got a decent shot of making the roster but his spot is far from guaranteed, Asa will be tough competition if he can stay healthy
Glad to see Terrence brooks is healthy!! Hope he grabs a starting role in the future and. Hopefully will kill keeps his head clean!
he's not healthy yet, he's still got quite a ways to go and is flirting with missing next season if he gets IRed
Well......considering the players weren't supposed to be even hitting, I wouldn't put much credence in that. Maybe later on, when they are going at it in pads. Otherwise, it means nothing. And, I have a feeling if you asked Brandon if that's how it actually happened, he'd have a different take on it.
I agree, i think Williams was just taking a play off because, well, he couldn't do much and Urschel just took advantage. We shouldn't look too much into that.
For those saying that Camp should be cut, you need to remember that Kapron Lewis Moore was drafted in 2013 and he's yet to play a down for the Ravens. If they see Camp is worth keeping around, they'll do so especially since he hasn't suffered any season ending injuries.
But there is a difference here between Camp and KLM. Camp's spot, regardless of the injury, was never guaranteed to begin with considering how loaded with young talent our receiving corps is. The big difference here is that, yes KLM has yet to play a snap outside preseason but the "good" thing about that is we haven't had to sacrifice a roster spot to keep him yet so we have been able to stash him and get a good look at his skill the following year. In that regard having a season ending injury is "better" from a team point of view, Camp hasn't had a season ending injury yet but he has had constant nagging injuries that cause him to miss time but not enough to place him on IR, thus we are sacrificing a roster spot to keep him.
This injury doesn't bode well for him making the final 53, The WR battle is already shaping up to be one for the ages and many are very high on DeAndre Carter which also puts Camp's slot role in jeopardy. Plus many have been clamoring for KLM to be cut as well, which i think would be a mistake because we are not as deep at DE as at WR.
When was the last time the coaching staff, the front office cut an Alabama player who played on a team that won two national championships? Maybe, it's because he only had two sacks during his college career.
I seriously doubt it had anything to do with sacks, he's an ILB. It has more to do with the fact that he was never particularly good in the first place, sure he could do a little against the run (as long as the runner was going between the tackles) but he's not an athlete and was beyond terrible in coverage.
Out of the two it seems Bose has the better special teams potential, probably why he's being brought back.
I guess Jernigan is the obvious choice with B. Williams as the #2, but i chose KLM to mix things up because why not?
What a joke of a website.
Ravens get +4 for a joke Flacco made
Patriots get +3 for Deflategate and +2 for Spygate
seems about right

How was I "trying way too hard with the Doss and Brown part?" please, I invite you to teach me, I stated nothing but facts in my brief address between the two of them. Browns first year far exceeded anything Doss ever did, thats just a fact.
I can't find a single post where you said Aiken was a bum, you wanna know why? because you never said that and I never said that you did, I said you are acting as if he is. Theres a big difference between acting like he's a bum and explicitly stating it.
When i said "acting as if he is in serious danger of being cut" I wasn't saying "you are acting like it is highly probable that he'll be cut" I was saying "you are acting as if its a realistic probability." And its just plain not. If you want to be technical about it, obviously nobody is safe, SSS could be cut, Perriman could be cut, whether it "could" happen is beside the point, its a matter of whether the scenario in which it would happen is even worth considering and in the case of SSS, Perriman, Brown, and Aiken its not.
You keep saying Aiken only has 24 catches, Aiken only has 24 catches, Aiken only has 24 catches....In a vacuum in which all WRs in the NFL are only equal ground, sure thats not very impressive, but lets take a step back into reality in which Aiken started the season as the #5 WR, maybe even #6 depending on how you felt about Camp, its gets much more impressive. Nobody ever said Aiken is a legend or HOFer, even for hyperbole that a bit much. Theres a vast difference between being considered a lock to make the roster and being a "legend."
Considering Aiken has everything you want out of a receiver and when called upon and given more snaps he produced (not at "legend" levels, nobody is saying that), i.e. the Chargers and Dolphins games, he definitely should be considered a lock. He easily proved last season that he is a dependable target when on the field.
Could he have a rough camp? yeah, could anyone? yeah. But how "rough" of a camp would he need ot not make the roster is the question. And that bad of a camp simply isn't a realistic possibility.
